Chapter 1509: Chapter 1173 What Use Do I Have for You_2

With two examples before them, the remaining old scientists stood up one by one, expressing their displeasure with Henki.

Henki, on the other hand, remained silent, simply listening to the accusations of the others. In reality, these old scientists were the ones at fault, having spoken passionately and at length, to which the other party hadn’t responded with even a single word. Gradually, their voices also diminished.

"Are you done?" Henki spoke up, his tone light and cheerful, showing no signs of any displeasure.

"..." The old scientists didn’t reply because anything they said would seem to lose momentum.

"Since you’ve finished, then I guess it’s my turn," Henki said, his tone even filled with laughter.

"You speak!" an old scientist said.

"I agree to your withdrawal," Henki stated.

"You agree? Who do you think you are? Do we need your agreement?" Immediately, the group of old scientists bristled again.

"I am Henki, the person personally appointed by the Emperor to lead the new type of alloy development group. And you are merely assistants assigned by the Emperor to aid me. Aside from being older, you have no expertise to boast of in my presence. You don’t even possess a shred of knowledge about improving the Energy Alloy, nor the drive to learn anything new. So in my opinion, instead of having you around, I might as well employ a dozen servants to clean and tidy up for me so I would be in a better mood," Henki said, clearly provoking them. But faced with such a lack of cooperation for three days, anyone would be hard-pressed to maintain a good mood.

"So, Henki, are you serious? You no longer need their help?" the Emperor inquired.

"Yes, Your Majesty, I have been observing them for these three days. Although these elders have been critical of my research, not one of them has come to ask me what my research actually entails. They have shown no curiosity about this vastly improved Energy Alloy. All I have seen in their eyes is disdain, which baffles me. How could such a group of unremarkable individuals look down on my epoch-making achievements? I’ve concluded that they are unsuitable for conducting research with me. Perhaps I should seek ordinary scientists instead of these individuals who appear to utterly lack ambition."

Henki’s rebuttal left the old scientists speechless, but they were certainly not going to acquiesce. In their view, they were the true scientists, and Henki’s background made his research insignificant.

"Your Majesty! I think it’s quite the opposite!" an old scientist suddenly stood up.

"Oh?" The Emperor had thought that these old scientists would reflect on their own actions and join the group to expedite the development of the new Energy Alloy, but unexpectedly, they still had something to say!

"Yes! Your Majesty, I believe that such high-end research ultimately comes down to the direction of research. And we have more experience in improving the new Energy Alloy. As long as our research direction is correct, we can achieve results much faster!" an old scientist declared.

"So, what do you mean?" The Emperor seemed to have understood but didn’t spell it out.

"What I mean is, this young man should hand over his technology to us, who are more mature and experienced. Despite his significant contribution to discovering the advanced Energy Alloy technique, monopolizing the technology is detrimental to the Empire! He may deserve a reward, but to us, this impetuous young man is simply not cut out for research work!"

Long Yi was dumbfounded; this was his first encounter with such shameless individuals, adept at twisting the truth!

The Emperor laughed. Indeed, as a Worm, he didn’t care who conducted the research; it was the commitment to research that mattered.

"You really are shameless," Long Yi remarked.

"What did you say!" an old scientist, taken aback by Long Yi’s direct insult, bellowed in protest.

"I said, you’re utterly shameless, spouting such nonsense. At your age, it’s a real shame how you’ve all turned into beasts," Long Yi honestly exclaimed. To steal while spinning such twisted logic was indeed rare.

"Bastard! The Emperor is right here, and you dare spout such insolence?" the old scientist yelled, as he hadn’t heard any reprimand from the Emperor, confident that the Emperor was only interested in results, not the process.

"Since you’ve become so brazen, I have nothing more to say." Long Yi brought out a thick stack of documents from his personal space, "All my research is here. Take a look. But remember, it’s easy for me to walk away today. But if you mess up and want me to come back? Well, that will be difficult!"

With those words, Long Yi didn’t wait for the Emperor’s response and simply walked away!

The Emperor didn’t stop Henki either; in fact, he was indifferent to Henki’s departure since he only wanted the new alloy to be mass-produced. The old scientists, who thought today might spell disaster for them, were unexpectedly jubilant at this turn of events, having turned defeat into victory.
