Chapter 148: Chapter 128: Mavericks and Academics!【Seeking Subscription!】_3

"Moreover, their Dragon Knights went to support in battle, while ours are stationed here? These Dragon Knights are the top fighters in war, and should not be wasted in such a manner!"

Upon realizing this, Alec broke out in a cold sweat.

This wasn’t a complicated matter. Even though it was a bit convoluted, it wasn’t hard to comprehend. He had been shouting like an idiot just a while ago, utterly embarrassing himself even in front of his grandma’s house!

Feeling thoroughly mortified, the young man blushed deeply and bowed to General Kai Long, "I apologize, General. I understand now. I... I am truly sorry!"

"Ahh, always the scholar," Long Yi shook his head and laughed.

Alec’s bowed head revealed a fleeting moment of resentment, which quickly vanished.

Given his seniority and status, Kai Long could not be petty with the younger generation. He consoled Alec for a bit, then turned his attention to Long Yi.

"Long Yi, your tactics are quite good, but it seems irrespective of whether you are the Dragon Knight or not," Kai Long remembered what Long Yi had said earlier; as long as he was the leading Dragon Knight, they would win for sure.

"Of course, it doesn’t matter, because didn’t you all disbelieve my assertion that if I were the head Dragon Knight, I would surely win? So, I had to adopt a different approach," Long Yi replied.

"So, if I do believe in you, what method would you use to win?" Kai Long grew even more curious. Did Long Yi have an even more clever approach?

Despite trying to ignore Long Yi, Alec couldn’t help but prick up his ears to listen intently.

"It’s very simple, I will take down all those Dragon Knights by myself and then we will win," Long Yi said with a smile.

"Young man, your dragon is still a baby!" Unable to hold back, Alec retorted. Wasn’t it so? There was a chubby Earth Dragon and a Black Flying Dragon accompanying Long Yi. Both dragons appeared young; how could they possibly defeat ten fully grown dragons?

"Heh heh, always the scholar." Long Yi smirked, clearly not in the mood to explain. If it weren’t for the fact that they were in the General’s Mansion, Alec would have punched him. That face was just too infuriating!

When Long Yi spoke about "taking down" the dragons, he was, of course, referring to a time when Bajie evolved into an adult dragon. After all, Bajie couldn’t even fly at this stage, so how could he possibly fight? However, seeing Alec so infuriated made Long Yi extremely happy.

"Grandpa! Brother Long! I’ve changed my clothes!"

The study door was pushed open, and Ai Lin ran in cheerfully.

Alec’s eyes widened in surprise, while Long Yi couldn’t help but admire her. This little girl was a real clothes horse; she looked good in everything.

This time, Ailin had shed her silver Dragon Scales and left her crystal weaponry in her room, switching to a white dress adorned with small flowers at the edges. Her delicate shoulders were exposed, and her slender collarbones played peek-a-boo as she moved.

Wait, something doesn’t seem right.

It’s winter now, right? How could she wear a dress and seemingly not feel cold? The stark incongruity was glaring! The semi-transparent silver light squatted on Ai Lin’s shoulder, and Little Zi floated behind her, adjusting the bow knot at the back of Ai Lin’s dress.

"A female demon?" General Kai Long was quick to recognise Little Zi. Because Little Zi didn’t want to cause a stir, she had hidden outside all this time. In the excitement of the moment, Ai Lin had forgotten to knock and had run in, causing Little Zi to be also brought in by the bow.

"A female demon?" Alec couldn’t help but divert his gaze from Ai Lin. Because he had been ignoring Long Yi all this while, he hadn’t noticed Little Zi. But now, he finally saw her.

A female demon! And an evolved one at that!

"Hello, General! I am the maid of Master Long Yi. My name is Little Zi." Little Zi, finally realizing that everyone was looking at her, immediately stepped aside and curtseyed to General Kai Long with utmost sincerity.

"Nice to meet you. I appreciate your care for my granddaughter. Thank you," General Kai Long understood well enough not to take her lightly. She was a fully evolved female demon and an invaluable ally. Looking at the third-place performance, it seemed that her contribution was significant. As Ai Lin’s grandfather, it was only proper for him to offer his thanks. Besides, facing such a well-mannered little girl, he really couldn’t find fault with her.

"Sir, you’re being too kind. I’ve been simply performing my duties. Miss Ai Lin has been taking good care of me too," Little Zi replied very politely, serving up a sweet smile in the process.

"Grandpa, I’ll show Brother Long around. We won’t be disturbing you anymore!" Ai Lin said, her face red.

"Alec, you should go with them and have a look. Stay for dinner later," General Kai Long suggested.

After the group left, Ai Lin became immensely excited. She grabbed Long Yi’s hand and began exploring the General’s Mansion, chattering non-stop. She was eager to introduce Long Yi to every single stone in the place.

Alec tagging along was incredibly awkward because Long Yi and Ai Lin were very close and barely gave him any chance to chime in. Even when Alec managed to get a word in, Ai Lin would respond with such serious focus, which greatly irked him.

Suddenly, the group heard a whooshing sound in the distance.

"That must be my second brother practicing!"

Second brother?

Ais?

Long Yi remembered Ai Lin’s bizarrely disciplined second brother. The word ’bizarre’ here doesn’t mean that Ais has the habit of exposing himself in the middle of the night or wearing a trench coat and flashing passersby. Rather, Ais had a near ’bizarre’ level of discipline. In fact, Ais seemed more like a robot; everything he did was precise like a cogwheel and he wouldn’t tolerate any mistake.

After bypassing a building, they came upon a spacious field. There were hard, flat stones on the ground, and Dragon-slaying Swords were placed on nearby racks.

Ais, bare-chested, was mechanically swinging a Dragon-slaying Sword over and over. The sword he was using this time seemed much heavier than the one Long Yi had seen him use before. Now in the coldest part of winter, Ais was sweating profusely, the steam enveloping him. Each swing of the Dragon-slaying Sword neatly cut through the steam, turning it into two tornadoes that veered off to either side.

Generally, no one was allowed to disturb Ais while he was training, not even General Kai Long, who would wait for Ais to finish his session. However, Ai Lin was an exception. Ais utterly adored his little sister. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to qidian(.)com to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my biggest motivation.
