Chapter 1431: Chapter 1145: Idiot’s Counterattack_3

A major victory immediately made Long Yi’s squad a subtly different place. Long Yi had first battled one of their top warriors and had won in an almost brutishly unreasonable manner. Facing Long Yi’s style of combat, the other warriors admitted to themselves they lacked such strength. Therefore, right from the start, they lost half their morale. With already inferior skills, and now lacking in spirit, victory almost became a matter of course.

So, when the entire promotion tournament concluded, Long Yi astonishingly advanced to the next level as number one once again!

Seeing Long Yi walk towards his squad, the instructor’s heart skipped a beat. He had watched Henki’s battle almost from start to finish. Honestly, the fight wasn’t spectacular, but that Alloy Greatsword left a deep impression on him. It could be said that it was this Alloy Greatsword that had allowed Henki to come this far. And if one wanted to defeat him, the question of that Alloy Greatsword was inevitably something that could not be ignored.

Unless, one could figure out exactly what was the deal with his Alloy Greatsword!

"Cough cough, Henki, could I take a look at your Alloy Greatsword?" the instructor asked.

"Of course not," Long Yi replied as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "This greatsword is my only hope for victory. What if you damaged it?"

Damaged it?

The instructor, sitting in his armored cockpit, suddenly widened his already enormous eyes.

Your greatsword hasn’t been damaged from clashing with countless energy swords! Nor from battling against numerous warriors’ alloy armors! And you’re saying that just letting me have a look could damage it?

The instructor was immensely dissatisfied, but he did agree with Long Yi’s point—that it was this greatsword that had allowed Henki to keep winning.

"In that case, you should take good care of your greatsword! Make sure you don’t lose it!" The instructor said with great dissatisfaction.

This time, Henki’s arrival did not provoke any resentment within the team. In a sense, Henki had proven his strength. No matter what had happened before, now that he had demonstrated his power, he naturally deserved to be treated in accordance with it.

And so, Henki made friends for the first time.

Only, these friends in their brief exchanges inevitably brought up the Alloy Greatsword question, yet Henki’s lips were sealed tight, not revealing a single word.

This time, the team members and instructors learned from their mistakes. Instead of hastily holding another promotion match, they began to use their Family connections to investigate exactly who Henki was. Some people even approached Henki’s parents in hopes of finding some news. Unfortunately, Henki’s parents seemed utterly indifferent to whatever happened to their child; they didn’t even have the patience to listen to the visitors finish their sentences.

However, everything changed during one break.

Because someone saw Henki secretly meeting with La Sang, the instructor from Squad Six.

There were a total of ten squads in the rookie camp, and Squad Six naturally ranked sixth. Not long before, their squad had seen a female warrior advance to Squad Five with a record of all victories—earned through genuine strength. And now, Henki, once considered a fool, now with two consecutive victories, was also seen walking alongside him. If there was no secret to this, no one would believe it.

La Sang’s Family had initially supported the Prophet incorrectly, although they later read the shifts in power dynamics and began to support the Emperor, the initial mistake still led to them being ostracized within the new Empire, despite their many attempts and compromises to regain their former glory. So when some people found out that this matter involved La Sang, they actually became less worried.

"Relax, this is just another struggle from a declining Family!" people said one after another.

And so, amid such conversations, Long Yi, playing the role of Henki, faced the advancement match of the eighth squad.

The instructor of the eighth squad had given this promotion match a lot of thought and had also secretly communicated with all the members, except for Henki, to develop a perfect combat strategy sequence. Their goal was simple: to send Henki back to the ninth squad. Long Yi had already heard about the instructor and his comrades’ secret plans. However, any conspiracy ultimately had to be implemented through action, and at this moment, Long Yi was somewhat curious about how these people planned to overcome his Alloy Greatsword.

Then, the battle began.

As a latecomer, Long Yi still had no opponents; he patiently waited. Soon, a pair of warriors determined the winner. Then, his opponent appeared.

In the last ranking fight, he had placed third, and since the top two had already advanced, he was now the strongest warrior of the eighth squad.

"I’ll be your opponent, draw your weapon," the other said.

Long Yi didn’t waste words either, pulling out his Alloy Greatsword from his personal space and striking directly at the opponent. The opponent dodged Long Yi’s slash, and in a swift motion, a burst of sparks flew as his energy sword grazed Long Yi’s leg.

"Good!"

The surrounding warriors immediately cheered.

But Long Yi found it somewhat amusing. Initially, Henki had been deemed a fool, and everyone was even too lazy to fight him. Was it now that any casual hit on him could draw applause?

The warrior felt a hint of pride in his heart; after all, he was the first person to injure Henki in so many battles!

Where there’s a first time, there’s a second! The subsequent fight, under Long Yi’s deliberate restraint, saw the warrior landing multiple hits on Long Yi. Even though the damage wasn’t severe, it proved the viability of his tactics—defensive counter-attacking in the most conservative manner. This was a tactic only chosen when facing strong opponents, and clearly, Henki was now seen as a powerful adversary in everyone’s eyes.

At this point, the warrior was brimming with confidence, believing he had grasped Henki’s combat rhythm.

"Heh, I thought he was something special, but it turns out he’s just this," the warrior who thought he had the victory in the bag started to mock, while the eighth squad members, originally pretending to fight, cheered him on even more.

Actually, Long Yi had intended to drag the fight out a bit longer, but now it seemed that this opportunity for a face-to-face slap couldn’t be missed—that wasn’t in his nature!

"I see, I understand now," Long Yi said in a still dull tone, while raising his Greatsword horizontally.

"Hahaha, this again? You think you can hit me?" the opponent charged forward!

Long Yi suddenly twisted his waist and turned, his Alloy Greatsword cleaving through the air horizontally, but the warrior had already stooped to dodge! Just as he confidently prepared to slice at Long Yi’s waist with his energy sword, Long Yi had already spun a full circle, his Greatsword heading straight for the warrior’s waist!
