Chapter 1428: 1144-3

"Emergency ejection!"

Boom!

The damaged Alloy Armor ejected the White-skinned combatant, hitting Long Yi square in the chest. Given the frail physique of the White-skinned, he was knocked unconscious from the impact.

"It’s not my fault; he passed out on his own," said Long Yi, putting down his Greatsword with an innocent look.

But at this moment, nobody cared whether Long Yi did it on purpose or not because they were all puzzled by what had just happened. How could a metal Greatsword defeat an energy weapon? And how could it slice open Alloy Armor?

In fact, the instructor had been about to forcibly end the combat. In his view, anyone fighting Henki was just plain bullying. But now he realized that things were not as simple as he had thought. This guy, who usually looked so dull, even now appearing clueless, might still be hiding some special potential.

"What are you looking at? Get back to fighting! Henki here has already scored a victory! Do you all want to be tied for last?" the instructor roared.

Immediately, the distracted warriors resumed their fighting. In reality, though, each was somewhat preoccupied. Finally, one bout ended, and the victor approached Long Yi. He raised his energy Greatsword, pointed at Long Yi from afar, and said, "Henki, I don’t know what trick you just pulled, but don’t expect to get away with any antics in front of me. I win! You lose!"

Long Yi also raised his metal Greatsword and shouted, "I win! You lose!"

The warrior, face contorted with disgust, yelled, "Don’t copy me!"

Boom! The energy Greatsword in his hand transformed into a Light Spear, shooting straight towards Long Yi. And Long Yi, crossing his sword, actually prepared to block the Light Spear with its broad blade!

"This is bad!" The instructor realized something terrible was about to happen because that Light Spear was aiming straight for Henki’s chest and abdomen. If Henki failed to block this strike, the Light Spear could very likely penetrate Henki’s Alloy Armor, leading to his immediate death! Based on what the instructor knew of Henki, the guy had incredibly poor strength, and his control over the armor was embarrassingly clumsy—he wouldn’t be able to withstand this hit!

But it was already too late to stop it!

"Get out of the way, you idiot!" the instructor shouted.

"Huh?" Long Yi turned to glance at the instructor; this instructor usually seemed so fierce, but who would have thought he’d actually show concern?

This glance gave the Light Spear just enough time to reach him!

"Idiot, why are you looking at me?"

Clang!

The sound of metal collision rang out. Although the instructor’s face was hidden behind the armor, he had closed his eyes within the cockpit. There had never before been an actual fatality in the recruits’ training, for they fought using energy armor, which was the same in terms of hardware for everyone. And even if some were really too dim-witted, they at least had basic survival skills. But who could have anticipated a fool among fools like Henki, who didn’t even know how to save himself? What could he do now? How would he explain this to the higher-ups?

However, the sudden exclamations of surprise around him made the instructor refocus his attention on the battlefield. There, Henki was still holding his defensive stance, the Light Spear was gone, and his metal Greatsword was emitting a bright light!

"It’s my turn!" bellowed Long Yi, charging straight ahead. His opponent still stood there stunned, for that was to be an assured victory. He never imagined that Long Yi could block his surefire strike! How on earth did he manage it?

But now it was too late for second guesses, because Long Yi’s Greatsword was already upon him!

"In your dreams!" sneered the warrior. Energy surged as he lifted an arm to block the incoming Greatsword. The energy reformed on the outer layer of his armor, making it denser to ensure that no matter how sharp Long Yi’s metal Greatsword was, it couldn’t possibly cut through his armor.

But in the next moment, the metal Greatsword cleaved right through his arm!

"No! This can’t be happening!" The warrior couldn’t believe his own eyes. How could a mere metal Greatsword penetrate his energy armor?

With a successful slash, Long Yi used his momentum to sweep sideways from below, cutting off the still-stunned warrior’s legs.

"Eject!"

Knowing his Alloy Armor was severely damaged and a forceful ejection was imminent, the warrior hurriedly ejected from the armor, this time landing steadily on the ground. But the look in his one eye showed that this was a grudge set in stone.

The Forgotten Ones viewed this kind of energy armor as their everyth ing. Being forced to eject from one’s armor was almost like being stripped naked in public—a profound humiliation. If the opponent’s strength far surpassed one’s own, perhaps the shame could be slightly lessened. Obviously, in everyone’s eyes, Henki was not one of those with overwhelming strength. To be compelled to eject by a powerless individual—this was a downright insult, an indignity to remember for a lifetime!

And now, the instructor stood frozen. If something happened once, we could call it a coincidence. But twice, was it just luck? And would there be a third time? A fourth? 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

There just might be!

For some reason, that’s the feeling the instructor had.

And then, this fool named Henki began his performance indeed. His movements might have been clumsy and ungraceful, but he fought with an insane vigor. His metal Greatsword possessed an eerie power—whenever it touched any energy weapon, that weapon would instantly collapse. And upon contact with the enemy’s energy alloy armor, it too would immediately fail. This virtually allowed Henki to go undefeated in the subsequent duels! In the end, he unbelievably secured first place in the ranking matches with his perfect record!

But how could this be possible! (To be continued. If you enjoyed this work, you are welcome to give it your recommendation votes and monthly votes on qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
