Chapter 1383: Chapter 1127: Giant’s Bad Habit
As the golems appeared, the Crystal Demon warriors immediately sensed the immense threat emanating from them and started to attack full force. However, the Light Cannons fired by the Crystal Demons could not penetrate the golems’ defenses. Worse still, the deadly Light Cannons shot from the golems’ eyes could shatter several Crystal Demon warriors on the spot with just one strike!
Even though the Crystal Demon warriors fought by loading their consciousness, shattering did not mean casualties. Yet, the instant victory still deeply alarmed Belle, the Empress of the Crystal Demons, who was behind the battleships.
What on earth were these golems? Why were they so powerful?
At that moment, the two Prophets burst into laughter.
"Indeed, they are worthy of being the only weapons made by the Giant. We can’t even replicate half of their power, and yet they’re already this formidable!" said the old Prophet.
It turned out that the old Prophet had accidentally acquired a damaged golem. Although it was broken, its internal structure had not been extensively damaged. So, using the technology and Power Core he possessed, he replicated a golem. To his surprise, the golem’s power greatly exceeded his expectations. Hence, he had been secretly manufacturing golems, hoping to utilize them one day to counterattack the Home Star and take complete control. He did not expect, however, to resort to them now.
Still, it might as well be a test of the golems’ power.
Unlike the Giant’s autonomous golems, these golems also required the control of warriors. Moreover, three warriors had to control one together, one responsible for defense, one for offense, and one specially in charge of maneuvering. To achieve seamless control, the three had their thoughts connected by magic. Judging by the results, the performance of these golems was perfect.
"Prepare the battleship for firing. Shoot those bastards down!"
Boom!
The Light Cannons from the crystal battleships fired simultaneously, but upon hitting a golem, the beam of the Light Cannon was deflected away!
"A deflection field? Isn’t that Giant technology?" Belle was incredibly surprised.
"Does that mean these fellows are a bunch of thieves?" came Elsa’s voice. At that time, a small spacecraft hovered above the massive crystal battleships; that was Elsa’s ship, where she and the Ghost Spirit girls were on board.
"It’s hard to say whether they’re thieves or not, but this Giant technology is certainly authentic. I think it’s highly likely that these golems are replicas of the Giants’ later models," Belle said.
"Leave those golems to us. You all focus on the other warriors," Elsa said.
"Understood," replied Belle.
The Crystal Demon warriors, who had been clustering around the golems, immediately retreated rapidly, charging toward the ordinary white-skinned warriors. Meanwhile, Elsa and the Ghost Spirit girls had already rushed out of the spacecraft.
"Alright, my sisters. After so much training, today has finally come the time for battle. And to start with, I’ve chosen for you the strongest enemy! In light of this, I’ve specially agreed for you to fight today in full Ghost Spirit form!"
All the Ghost Spirit girls, already in battle form, first froze at her words, then erupted into cheers and excitement.
With a roar of energy, grey Light Wings burst forth from the backs of all the Ghost Spirit girls. Since all Ghost Spirits had once parasitized inside members of the Celestial Clan, their original form now included Light Wings on their backs. Before this, Elsa had always instructed the newly born Ghost Spirits to suppress their power, as bearing Light Wings might have caused discontent among other Celestial Clan members. But now that it was time for battle, there was no need to keep suppressing their power.
The Light Wings triggered a Resonance of the Ghost Spirit power, so intense that the two distant Prophets could feel it!
"What is that?" the two Prophets wondered.
"To answer the Prophets, those are Ghost Spirits, transformed by Princess Elsa of the Celestial Clan," Gulu explained. These insights were permitted by Elsa for him to share, and frankly, even if he hadn’t, the two Prophets would have found out soon enough. So it was better that he said it and hopefully gained a slight increase in esteem from the Prophets.
"Ghost Spirits? Are those the ones who defeated the warriors led by Sajia?" asked the new Prophet.
"Yes, the very same," Gulu confirmed.
"Heh, interesting. Are they planning to fight our golems?" the old Prophet scoffed.
As they spoke, the Ghost Spirit girls began flashing in succession, and in the blink of an eye, they had surrounded the golems!
Buzz!
Their Armguards blasted out intense energy streams as the Ghost Spirit girls unleashed a fierce attack on the golems.
"Such speed!" exclaimed the new Prophet, astonished.
Blinking, as a semi-spatial magic, was very difficult to use consecutively, which means they didn’t use Blinking but actually reached here through acceleration! Because of their extreme speed, all the Light Cannons fired from the Golem’s eyes missed their targets, and the Ghost Spirit girls were already up close!
"So what if they are? As long as they can’t break through the shield, even the fastest speed is useless!" the Old Prophet said with a sneer.
Indeed, the group of Ghost Spirit girls used their speed and agility to move to the Golems’ blind spots and slashed out with energy streams from their hands as if they were the edges of swords. However, Runes around the Golem flickered, and layers of energy shields managed to completely neutralize the energy streams!
"See! This is Giant technology! Hahaha, but now it’s become Worm technology hahaha!" The Old Prophet laughed heartily; it was he who had found that Golem and also he who had replicated new Golems, so naturally, he had reasons to be excited.
After several unsuccessful attacks, the Runes on the surface of the Golem flickered, followed by an astounding burst of energy!
"Defensive form!"
The energy alloy on the Ghost Spirit girls’ bodies flashed, and the Light Wings on their backs instantly shielded their entire bodies.
Boom!
Energy spread like a massive bubble, roaring as it swept over every Ghost Spirit girl. Yet, the energy shock didn’t manage to push any of the Ghost Spirit girls back; those gray-glowing spheres stayed firmly suspended in the air, unmoving!
As the bubble passed, the spheres formed by the Light Wings shattered. The Ghost Spirit girls charged out again. And this time, the shields around the Golems had disappeared!
"Damn!" exclaimed the New Prophet.
"No, it doesn’t matter," the Old Prophet remained unconcerned.
The Ghost Spirit girls’ energy streams pierced into the armor of the Golems, and although the energy alloy had formed a defense, the Ghost Spirit girls’ energy streams were a bit too weak, and the Golems were simply too massive. Such a level of damage was merely an itch!
"Hahahaha, feel the despair! You are simply no match for me, never will be!" The Old Prophet laughed even more wildly.
However, Elsa, who had been vigilantly observing the battle, showed no signs of distress, for everything was proceeding according to plan.
Every time a Ghost Spirit girl stabbed her sword-like energy stream into the Golem’s armor, a vast amount of Ghost Spirit power was injected, flowing automatically along the Golem’s energy channels into the Power Core. Although these Power Cores weren’t original Giant products but instead imitations made using the White-skinned’s technology—which, in turn, was stolen from the Giants—there wasn’t much difference in some of their structures.
The Ghost Spirit girls attacked in turns, but soon, the force field shields around the Golems were regenerated. Then came another bombardment, followed by another fierce assault.
"Could there be a problem?" The New Prophet began to feel uneasy, although it seemed that the Ghost Spirit girls hadn’t inflicted any substantial damage to the Golems. Nevertheless, the Golems appeared to be helpless against the overly agile Ghost Spirit girls.
"Really? With their pitiful combat power, even if they had a year’s time, they couldn’t do anything to my Golem!" The Old Prophet was brimming with confidence.
At this moment, after the Golem had generated a shield for the fifth time, Elsa felt that the energy within the Golem’s shield had started to carry some of the Ghost Spirit power!
"It’s time! Everyone retreat!" Elsa commanded.
Immediately, the Ghost Spirit girls, who were originally surrounding the battlefield, drew arcs of light in the air and retreated to the distance.
"Hahaha, fools! Retreating so far, you’re just sitting ducks waiting for my attack!" exclaimed the White-skinned from within the Golem, who was responsible for the offensive. The consecutive attacks from the Ghost Spirit girls had irritated them to no end; regardless of the lack of pain, such close-quarters attacks were unbearable for their proud hearts. But at last, there was an opportunity!
"Fire!"
Roars rang out successively. But these roars were not from the Light Cannon; they were from the exploding Golems!
Just at the moment the Light Cannon was fired, the Power Cores of the Golems exploded catastrophically!
Despite the strict external defenses of the Golem, how could they defend against an explosion from within? The intense blast instantly shredded dozens of Golems. Debris flew all over the sky!
Both the Old and New Prophets were stunned, the turn of events was sudden and completely unexpected. Who could have thought that after the seemingly harmless attacks from the Ghost Spirit girls, the Golems would actually self-destruct?
Clearly, Elsa had thought of this.
Elsa had learned much about the Giant’s Golem technology from the External Storage Device of the Giant, some of which involved seemingly absurd designs by Giant standards. These designs appeared nonsensical to modern views, such as the many contradictory points in the Giant’s energy systems. Because the energy used by the Giants was a non-interfering, mild energy, these contradictions posed no threat, and the Giants couldn’t be bothered to change them. But if the energy was casually replaced, these points could become highly dangerous. What Elsa had instructed the Ghost Spirit girls to do was to inject Ghost Spirit power during their attacks, directly igniting those points.
The explosion of the Golems tremendously boosted the morale of the Crystal Demon warriors; they were already gaining the upper hand in the battle. Now, seeing the Golems explode, they charged without hesitation!
On the contrary, both Prophets panicked at this point, not even understanding what had happened. All they knew was that their strongest combat power had been inexplicably crushed!
