Chapter 1356: Chapter 1101 Why?

After the Divine Worm split along with the god, the memories within each fragment differed, and Long Yi had not obtained any truly useful memories previously. But when he entered Yahola’s memories, he saw something he had never seen before.

It was the Divine Worm adhering to the consciousness of the god, influencing the god to create a certain form of life.

"Yes, I will create a singular life form that can survive under various conditions, they will devour the entire filthy and diverse universe I created!" At that moment, an androgynous voice murmured. And within a pair of hands emitting a golden glow, a prototype of the Crystal Poison was slowly taking shape!

In the next moment, the memory shifted, and the god was watching a group of weak, one-eyed creatures worshipping her. Yet she raised her hand and scattered the Crystal Poison’s powder. As soon as the powder touched the god’s body, in the blink of an eye, the god was devoured, but what was devoured was merely an avatar of hers.

In another memory, the god muttered to herself, "I know, Worm, you’re there, you’ve always been influencing me. Every time I was punished by the divine decrees, I could even hear your mocking laughter. You infiltrated the universe I created, trying to use my hand to destroy everything I crafted. But the pity is, you’re just a foolish Worm, and you don’t realize that even though I can’t peel you from my consciousness, I have a way to stop all this! All I need to do is commit an enormous error that the divine decrees won’t permit, just once!"

The memory ended there, and Long Yi didn’t know what mistake the god had made. But it was clear that mistake had directly led to her being split into more than ninety thousand fragments.

"Perhaps you won’t believe it, but whenever I see these, a strong sense of shame invades my thoughts. It’s unbearable, and that’s why I chose to merge with this human to become one. I cannot stand my identity as the Divine Worm, I’m even disgusted by myself. At first, I found many Tetrahedrons, devoured some of my kind, but later, I stopped doing so because I couldn’t bear it anymore. Then I began to collect all the Tetrahedrons I found together, trying to imprison them forever."

Long Yi remembered that when he was pursuing Yahola, he had encountered a very strong Divine Worm, which was likely the one.

"I’ve dealt with many Divine Worms, but I’ve never seen one like you. You’re the first," Long Yi said.

"Maybe because I inherited these memories, and coincidentally the life I’ve parasitized has some conscience," Yahola said somewhat wistfully.

Although he hadn’t obtained any useful secrets, Long Yi still learned some information about the god, making him quite happy.

Most of the information Yahola revealed about the alliance of the Divine Worms had been verified by Ika, and what he said was true.

"So, what do you want from me?" Long Yi asked.

"Safety. Until you’ve completely eradicated all of the Divine Worms, I hope to receive protection from you. And after you wipe out all the Divine Worms, I would like to have a sum of wealth to squander, that’s all."

"Your request is not excessive," Long Yi said. "I promise you."

Yahola’s surrender caught all the Divine Worms somewhat off guard, and they were also incredibly shocked. It was well-known that Long Yi did not trust any Divine Worm. Yahola’s advantage was that he was no longer a Divine Worm! And when he surrendered, he immediately disappeared from the senses of all the Divine Worms! This meant that he had become a Human. What made the Divine Worms angry was not only that he chose to surrender, but he also took a group of warriors away from the alliance of the Divine Worms!

Among all the Divine Worms, Turun and Simu were the most furious. As the direct victims of this affair, they had no idea Yahola would take such action.

Especially Turun, those Golems were the crystallization of his effort, he handed them to Yahola originally just to test their combat prowess. He had not expected that before a single battle occurred, Yahola had given them all to Long Yi!

At that moment, within the secret chamber of the Golden Warship, Turun was raging. And encased in the crystalline Eternal body, Little Zi watched Turun with schadenfreude.

"What are you laughing at!" Turun shouted at Little Zi.

"Of course, I’m laughing at your misfortune," Little Zi said, still smiling.

"Misfortune? Could it be worse than your misfortune? Being trapped here by me, unable to go anywhere!" Turun roared.

"Clearly, you can do nothing about me either, can you?" Little Zi said nonchalantly, the Eternal body was incredibly sturdy, so sturdy that even she couldn’t open it. And Turun didn’t have the guts to open it either.

"Humph humph, don’t be in such a hurry; sooner or later, I will find a way to deal with you! The pure energy form of Trinity, you will be my strongest trump card!" Turun said.

"Then you better speed up, because if you’re too slow, I might just escape," Little Zi said with a playful laugh, completely unfazed.

"Humph!" Turun snorted coldly and turned to leave the secret chamber. It did not want its loss of composure to be witnessed by others.

Watching Turun leave, Little Zi continued to press her hand inside the Eternal construct, and then, a fine glimmer of light emerged from her fingertips. It was the Gluttonous Snake, but in its second form. Although Little Zi did not know exactly what had happened, the evolution of the Gluttonous Snake into its second form indicated Long Yi’s contribution, and also meant that the snake could deconstruct the Eternal construct more quickly.

The Eternal construct certainly could not achieve the purpose of being everlasting by deconstructing itself; instead, it was the energy attached to the deconstruction. This energy had a very strong self-sealing nature, and that’s why the Giants called it the "Eternal construct," but Little Zi was looking to make a hole with the Gluttonous Snake in this energy.

Just a tiny gap would be enough for Little Zi to escape from here!

During her imprisonment here, the Gluttonous Snake had already made considerable progress. Now that it had evolved into its second stage, its devouring abilities had advanced further, and visible cracks had started to appear in the energy of the Eternal construct.

Only one last step was left!

Right at that moment, Little Zi suddenly felt a fresh surge of energy flowing in from the outside world; it was the Gluttonous Snake! It had bored a hole through the Eternal construct!

But at this time, Little Zi did not rush to leave. Being a supreme master of advanced magic herself, she had, during her time here, fully deciphered the magic structure of the Eternal construct. She immediately set to work using her own magic to patch up the hole so that no one would be able to detect any flaws, and whenever she wished to leave, she could escape instantly!

However, she chose not to leave but immediately cast an Avatar out instead. She had to ascertain exactly what had happened here. Now Little Zi was a god, and all her Avatars were gods as well. With Divine Power, it was a piece of cake to dodge every Divine Worm and find out about recent events. After Little Zi learned about recent developments, she couldn’t help but laugh heartily, especially over Yahola’s sudden surrender, which amused her in secret for quite a while. Now Little Zi was faced with two options. The first was to leave right away and look for Long Yi, but doing so would certainly alert the Divine Worms. The second option was to continue staying here, taking advantage of the fact that she could already move freely, to serve as Long Yi’s insider.

However, when a Female Demon Avatar encountered Ika, Little Zi felt Long Yi’s contract mark!

This Ika, although one of the Divine Worms, was one of their own? Little Zi was very puzzled but did not rush to confirm this. Caution above all, these Divine Worms were mysterious, and no one knew what was really going on with them. Until she could be certain that it was really one of their own, Little Zi definitely wouldn’t court trouble for herself.

But at this moment, the Divine Worms had fallen into a state of tension and confusion. They assumed that Yahola’s surrender meant that their location must have been exposed and that Long Yi could appear here at any time! Should they leave?

No! They must leave! The majority of the Divine Worms gathered here believed that continuing to stay was highly risky.

However, while they were still discussing, a massive fleet suddenly appeared in the nearby star field along with the energy fluctuations.

Naturally, it was Long Yi and his team.

The fleet was comprised entirely of large Nightmare Knights. These large Nightmare Knights immediately dispersed, transforming into individual combat entities, and charged toward the distant gold warship and the black planet. Most of the Divine Worms were on these two inherently spaceship-like planets, surrounded by all manner of other vessels, which were almost instantaneously destroyed by the Nightmare Knights upon contact.

Everyone expected Long Yi to come, but his arrival was so swift that it surprised everyone. These Nightmare Knights were mechanical artificial intelligences; the Divine Worms’ control abilities were useless against them, and Long Yi was not afraid at all.

This time Long Yi didn’t bring others with him, only the Nightmare Knights, because he knew that this battle wouldn’t last long.

However, upon approaching the golden warship, Long Yi received an unexpected surprise; he sensed Little Zi’s presence!

A Female Demon Avatar immediately appeared beside Long Yi. Through the contract, the two quickly exchanged their thoughts of longing and important information. Although Long Yi did not support Little Zi’s continued presence here, it was clear that Little Zi wanted to stay and be an insider. Long Yi told Little Zi that among all Divine Worms, Ika was one of their own and could be trusted. From the information exchanged earlier, Long Yi had informed Little Zi of the entire process, and she understood that she could probably rely on Ika for some operations in the future.

Leviathan Worm-controlled Golems were dispatched from the golden warship to confront the Knight Order, programmed with instructions to avoid Long Yi at all costs. If they came into contact with Long Yi, then the Leviathan Worms responsible for controlling the Golems would be taken by Long Yi, which was not permissible. Of course, in reality, Long Yi didn’t head to the golden warship but charged directly for Black Star. (To be continued.
