Chapter 1326: Chapter 1073: The Curious Ones

Contracts are subordinate to the rules of faith!

Long Yi knew that Elsa had always deeply trusted him; though this trust could not elevate to the height of faith, in a sense, it could be considered a form of faith, right?

Thus, Long Yi began to meticulously search among the countless connections of faith linked to him. This search was extremely taxing on his spirit, but Long Yi was tireless. And indeed, the results astonishingly rewarded his efforts!

Just as Long Yi had expected, Elsa’s trust in him was indeed deeper than faith itself!

Almost immediately, Long Yi transmitted the segment about the gluttonous snake through this connection. This segment would lie dormant within Elsa’s body, and once any Divine Worm attempted to parasitize Elsa, it would awaken instantly and completely obliterate it!

Actually, Long Yi hoped this protection would never have to take effect, because that would mean Elsa would never encounter any danger. But the moment he sent the gluttonous snake, he sensed Elsa’s gratitude through the contract!

Logically, Elsa shouldn’t have been aware of the gluttonous snake’s arrival.

Unless... Unless at this very moment Elsa was battling a Divine Worm! The second the gluttonous snake was transmitted, it achieved a kill!

It was a divine assist! Long Yi instantly completed self-praise and flattery.

Now, aboard this pirate ship, a group of pirates was staring blankly at the big fellow in front of them with an intoxicated expression.

Just now, the pirate ship had docked with another ship. And the moment the connecting passage opened, what the pirates saw was a blissful Long Yi.

"Excuse me, are you all pirates?" Long Yi’s smile hadn’t even faded yet.

The pirates in charge of boarding were completely baffled by his question. They were obviously pirates—what else could explain the show of force from the cannon attacks they had just initiated, to the aggressive communication threats, to the forceful boarding now, if not for piracy? To help increase the merchant ship’s supplies, perhaps?

"Nonsense, we are pirates! Get out of the way, you idiotic lump!" yelled the pirate at the forefront. The pirates behind were still wondering what was going on with this big fellow. Had he been scared silly? According to pirate logic, once a ship has been forcibly docked, the crew aboard should all be looking miserable. Where would you find such openly excited expressions?

"So it’s true, you’re really pirate chiefs! This is my first time meeting a pirate chief! Let’s have a chat, pirate chief! Don’t do tasteless things like robbery anymore!"

As he spoke, Long Yi approached the pirate at the front, placed his hand on the pirate’s chest, and pushed him backward. The pirate felt a terrifying force, as though a spaceship was taking off against his chest! Trying to struggle, he found he couldn’t move at all or even utter a sound! And the pirates behind him were even more puzzled. Did their leader know this foolish big fellow? Why else would he keep moving backward without stopping?

But when the frontmost pirate bumped into the one behind him, that pirate felt the same terrifying force. It was an immense brute strength that couldn’t be resisted, continuously applied from the front. Some instinctively tried to resist, but it was utterly futile.

Aboard the pirate ship, pirates were queuing to enter the merchant ship. Strangely, those who had entered the connecting corridor stopped, and after a while, they began to retreat en masse! Confused pirates moved aside only to find that one big fellow was pushing a whole group out by himself!

By now, the pirate at the front had fainted. He had faced Long Yi’s brute strength alone with his chest, pushing out the rest of the pirates behind him. Under Long Yi’s hold, his own Fighting Aura couldn’t rise. So under that great force, whenever he exhaled, his chest was compressed under the pressure, and thus, he was suffocated into unconsciousness.

Once Long Yi stepped out of the passage and released his hand, the compressed pirates instantly collapsed to the ground in a heap, some fainting just like the front pirate, while others gasped for air. As the Vanguard who forcibly boarded first, they had limited strength; their main goal was to intimidate the crew of the merchant ship with their presence. Thus, it was incredibly easy for Long Yi to bully them.

"So that makes you all pirate chiefs, does it?" Long Yi still wore a smile. However, the surrounding pirates had already regained their senses. They didn’t know who Long Yi was, but seeing the recent scene, anyone but a fool should understand he was definitely not one of their own!

A few pirates immediately roared and charged at him with weapons drawn, their Fighting Aura bursting forth. But only the sounds of ringing steel were heard as Long Yi caught two scimitars in his hands.

"Hey, hey, my pirate chiefs, can we not be so impulsive, okay? I didn’t say I was an enemy. You attack right away—what if you accidentally injure an innocent person?"

With two crisp snaps, Long Yi broke both scimitars, throwing aside the broken blades, and the two attacking pirates looked at each other in dismay.

"So, you’re not an enemy?" One of the pirates felt his hand trembling.

"Of course, I’m your enemy! Alright, now you’re free to attack!" Long Yi said, still beaming with pleasure.

The current commander of this pirate ship was named Jessica, who was also the newly appointed Group Leader. The former group leader, Mahal, had been dismissed due to incompetence, and he replaced him to become the new Group Leader, handpicking a new team. The backbone of the previous team was now mostly relegated to doing logistical chores... In the pirate world, this essentially meant losing all the lucrative opportunities.

This was Jessica’s first robbery mission since taking command, and in order to carry it out successfully, he was cautious and scouted the target beforehand, even paying off some informants to ensure nothing went wrong. Ever since monsters roamed freely, the military strength of both the Azure Sky Empire and the Hong En Empire had greatly diminished, not to mention the smaller nations. The decline in military power meant that they, as pirates, would be even more unbridled than before. That’s why this time, Jessica chose a large merchant ship as their target, guaranteeing that he would earn the Group Leader’s recognition!

However, the two ships had been docked together for a while now, so why hadn’t there been any report back yet?

Just as Jessica was puzzled, a sudden emergency communication came from the docking bay, "Group Leader! We’ve run into trouble! The enemy is strong, and we have countless dead and injured!"

"What! How many people are there on their side?" Jessica was shocked because the information received from the informants suggested that this merchant ship, in an attempt to save money, didn’t even hire an escort, let alone have warriors on board to protect the cargo. According to the informants, the ship’s owner believed that it was simply impossible to run into pirates just by coincidence and that if he managed to transport these valuable goods successfully, the money saved from not hiring escorts and bodyguards would make him laugh all the way to the bank!

"There’s only! Just one person! Ah—" The voice suddenly let out a scream, then there was silence.

"Are you alright! What happened!" Jessica urgently asked. At that moment, another voice came through, "Cough cough, hello Group Leader Jessica, I am a very friendly boarder. Actually, this time I came mainly to see what legendary pirates are like, so please don’t run off, I’ll be there shortly!"

Jessica couldn’t believe his ears; how could a mission that was supposed to be flawless turn out like this?

"All reserve teams, be alert, the Vanguard has been heavily hit, reserve teams enter emergency status immediately," Jessica ordered hastily.

"This is the reserve team! We’ve engaged the enemy! They are strong! But they are no match for us, Group Leader, please rest assured!" the reserve team responded.

Jessica immediately laughed. Yes, those vanguard troops were just cannon fodder. Many of them were rookies who had recently joined the Pirate Group; since this mission was deemed to pose no risk, letting them get a taste of the action first would certainly make them grateful to him, wouldn’t it? However, since they were unlucky enough to encounter a hidden powerhouse, it couldn’t be helped. After all, being a pirate was a blood-stained profession; if they died, they could only blame their bad luck.

But Jessica also had some doubts in his mind. He always felt the way the intruder spoke sounded familiar. However, he combed through his memory and couldn’t think of any such expert speaking in that manner.

A delusion, perhaps?

Thud—

The spaceship pulsed with vibrations, likely the result of skills clashing. Jessica grew less worried. Those reserve teams were all veterans; they knew best how to fight inside a spaceship, with experience, fearlessness, and most importantly, numbers.

"Reserve team, how’s the situation now?" Jessica asked again.

"Rest assured, Group Leader Jessica! Everything is under my control!" a voice came through.

"Haha, good! Very good..." Jessica instinctively laughed, but he quickly realized something was wrong with that voice! It wasn’t the voice of the pirate he had been in contact with before; it was the voice of the intruder!

Could it mean that the reserve team... was finished?

Boom!

As he thought this, the command bridge’s door was blasted open with force, and with a fierce Fighting Aura, Long Yi stepped out from behind it, holding a small device in his hand— the communication device.

"Now, Group Leader Jessica, let’s all sit down and have a friendly chat," Long Yi still spoke into the device, but his voice spread throughout the entire command bridge.

At this moment, the pirates on the command bridge were dumbfounded. This was the first time since they became pirates that they had encountered someone launching a counterattack. Should they fight? Clearly, that would be self-deception, for if the reserve team couldn’t defeat him, what could this group of civil crew members do?

So they all looked at Jessica, waiting for his response.

And it was only now that Jessica truly realized the gravity of the situation, for he recognized this person! (To be continued.
