Chapter 1256: 104

"You’re attacking me directly with Demon Power; such a naive thought," Belle lamented.

Since Solis was created based on Crazy Demons, as a true Crazy Demon, he possessed not the Mana of the man-made Crazy Demons but Demon Power, the strongest force of the Ancient Demon Tribe. Now that Belle had become the Crystal Demon Empress, her understanding of Demon Power far exceeded anyone else’s. If Solis’s straightforward attack using Demon Power had been aimed at Long Yi, perhaps it could have been remarkably effective. But for Belle, it was just delivering energy.

"How can this be... how can this be... wait, Demon Power? You are from the Demon Tribe!" Solis suddenly realized.

"Eh, who would have thought you’re pretty knowledgeable?" Belle chuckled.

"Impossible! The Demon Tribe clearly all turned into Crazy Demons!" Solis roared loudly.

"Clearly, you’re overthinking it," Long Yi said with a smile.

"Giants? That’s right! It must be the Giants! It has to be the Giants! Always the Giants! Every single time, it’s you damn Giants! The gods should never have created you in the first place! Every single thing your dangerous lives do is against the will of the gods! And I will destroy you in place of the gods!" Solis seemed to have gone mad.

"Quit the dumb act, you fool. To think that I would get fooled by you once or twice is enough," Long Yi scratched his head. To think he, so clever, had been duped by Solis twice—did that indirectly imply he was an idiot?

"No! The Giants must die! Ahahaha, hahahaha! You will never know what I have done!" Solis fell into an inexplicable state of insanity, and the massive Crystal Stone slowly began to rise and then suddenly exploded in the air!

But a red gleam took advantage of the explosion and flew towards a spatial rift!

Solis wasn’t mad; his speech was meant to draw Long Yi’s attention. As long as he could distract Long Yi even by a sliver, his plan would succeed.

But he hadn’t flown far when an incomprehensible force suddenly pulled him back!

"No! You can’t control me!"

Solis tried to control the Core to fly away, but that force was clearly more powerful, more irresistible. He could only watch helplessly as he flew backwards. He dared not break the crystal because he was a parasite; he couldn’t survive out of thin air. And obviously, all the crystals here were dangerous.

Soon the Crystal Core was floating in front of Belle.

A dazzling red fluctuation meandered within the Crystal Core.

Suddenly, the Crystal Core shattered, and the red fluctuation charged toward Belle’s forehead! But upon impact, it was repelled back!

"Sorry, my mind is not for violating," Belle said with a smile.

"My target was never you!" The red fluctuation, like lightning, charged directly at Long Yi!

But a true bolt of lightning was faster!

It was the serpent!

After a blinding thunder, the dark golden serpent entangled with the red fluctuation of the Divine Worm. This time, however, the worm did not patiently await its fate of being crushed but resisted desperately. False Divine Power kept being unleashed, driving the serpent away time after time, frantically trying to make contact with Long Yi. But the serpent’s speed was much faster than it, no matter how many times it was driven away, the serpent would always catch up and then tightly bind it.

After failing to break free from the serpent’s grasp numerous times, Solis couldn’t help but feel despair. The fluctuation of the False Divine Power shook the air as he yelled, "Hypocritical Giants! Vicious Giants! Don’t think you can kill the gods! Don’t think you can replace the gods! The gods will exist forever! You’ll never escape the control of the gods! Hahahahaha!"

"If you give me a proper explanation, maybe I can make it quick for you. But if you don’t plan to explain, then I can only crush you slowly and analyze little by little what’s inside your memory," Long Yi said.

"Go ahead and try, Giant. Everything that you did to break free from the control of the gods, the gods saw it all. And now, do you really want to kill the gods with your own hands?" Solis shouted.

Long Yi, however, laughed, "What the Giants did back then, I don’t know. All I know is that right now, in front of me, is a dying worm that still thinks it’s a god!"

The red fluctuation bound by the serpent shone even brighter, "I am the god! I am the god! I am the only god! The three Planes all belong to me! You Giants belong to me too! All of you!"

"Unfortunately, you’re overthinking it!"

Long Yi knew that it was no longer possible to get any useful information solely from this worm. Thus, he immediately channeled more Giant’s power into the serpent. Whether it was the God Eater as Solis claimed or the serpent, at least in Long Yi’s view, it was a truly reliable partner.

The extraordinary serpent was overjoyed. It began to frantically decompose the worm’s energy.

"No! My body is disappearing! My consciousness is disappearing! You can’t do this! You can’t destroy your god! I am your creator!" the worm began to panic.

"Despicable Giant! Vile Giant! Please let me go! I promise I won’t appear before you again!" The worm seemed to become mentally unstable.

Long Yi didn’t care much and continued to inject the Giant’s power. Finally, the protective shield of the False Divine Power was drained. Without this layer of protection, the worm’s true form was completely exposed.

And seeing the true form of the worm, Long Yi was shocked.

Because the worm turned out to be a red double helix structure! That double helix was folded together in a strange way.

In the past, Long Yi had only seen fragments of the worm, just a singular energy fluctuation. But now, the worm before him was clearly made up of countless worms’ energy, stacked together, forming a double helix structure.

The situation seemed much more complex than Long Yi had thought.

"Gluttonous Snake, stop."

Though the Gluttonous Snake very much wished to crush and swallow all of the worms, it still obeyed Long Yi’s command and stopped.

"That’s right, just like that! Poor Giant, are you scared? Are you beginning to fear me..."

The worm was still speaking, while Long Yi approached it for a closer look.

The Giants had already solved the puzzle of genetic inheritance, naming the double helix of genes the "Life Chain." These nucleic acid molecules arranged in a particular way provided a blueprint-like function for the continuous extension of life.

But what was this before him?

This Divine Worm—after losing the protective shell of its False Divine Power—its true nature was actually a Life Chain made of energy?

This was sheer nonsense; what was the point of a Life Chain made purely of energy? Understand that the Life Chain existed for the purpose of continuing lineage, for transmitting information. But did these Divine Worms need to reproduce? They were born from the consciousness of gods and consumed Divine Power. This, by no means, was a normal life process.

"What are you looking at, pathetic Giant!" the worm roared.

"Worm... no, I’d rather call you Solis; I’m more used to that name. I have a little question for you, dare you answer it?" Long Yi asked.

"Hehehe, pitiable Giant, beg me, and maybe I’ll show you mercy... Ahhh—ahh—"

Solis’s words were not yet finished when the electrical arcs of the Gluttonous Snake erupted. This time, the Gluttonous Snake did not attempt to crush it, it was simply torturing it. Long Yi didn’t know the full extent of the Gluttonous Snake’s power; after all, when he first encountered the Gluttonous Snake, the sensation was unpleasant, but not very painful. However, since Solis once said that the Gluttonous Snake, originally known as the God Eater, could even consume gods, its power must be considerable.

Well, at least from the painful fluctuations of Solis, one could sense that.

The torture of the Gluttonous Snake stopped, and the red fluctuations of Solis became noticeably weak and listless.

"Look, it’s just answering a question of mine, why put yourself through this?" Long Yi said.

"What exactly... do you want to know?" Solis asked this time without any extra words.

"What exactly are you as a life form?" Long Yi’s question was very direct, akin to asking a human about their species, which would probably prompt any person to pause for a moment and then tell you, "I am Human."

But Solis didn’t respond that way, instead, his weak voice came, "I am a God Chaser, a Divine Worm, born from the deep consciousness of a god, I shall become a god..."

Despite his weakness, Solis still sustained the belief that he would become a god.

If at the beginning Solis held this belief as mere nonsense, now that he still maintained it, there was a problem. Either he was insane, or... it might be the truth.

"Give me some of your False Divine Power," Long Yi extended his hand, and the Gluttonous Snake slightly relaxed its hold.

"You are mine..."

Boom!

Seeing an opportunity, Solis attempted to burst through the gap and attack Long Yi, but the thunder of the Gluttonous Snake was always a step faster than him, and torture was offered once again.

After a round of torture, Solis became feeble and released a faint False Divine Power.

Long Yi channelled that False Divine Power into his hand and then took out the Giant Tablet.

Long Yi knew that Divine Power was not a force, but a vast collection of rules, through which many objectives could be directly achieved. And this False Divine Power in his hand... was also a set of rules!

But it was evidently a pure rule, endowing it with tremendous destructive potential. And because it was too simple, it resembled but did not possess the other characteristics of Divine Power. Yet this False Divine Power was not immutable. By restoring that single rule to its original form, reverting back to the essence of Divine Power, he could immediately find its corresponding part within the true Divine Power.

That so-called False Divine Power was, in reality, no different from Divine Power, except it was not whole. Then things became intriguing; Divine Power stemmed from Divine Status, and only those qualified as gods could generate Divine Power. But this worm obviously did not possess Divine Status, yet it still had incomplete Divine Power.

"How much do you remember about the god from the beginning?" Long Yi asked.

"Giant, what exactly are you trying to do, why all these questions?" Solis weakly countered.

"Curiosity is the nature of every Giant, and as a Pioneer, I lack the memories from the beginning, so I have to ask you," Long Yi said with a smile.

"My memory is also incomplete, my body shattered, and I have always been desperately growing," Solis said.

"No matter, tell me whatever you know," Long Yi said.

"What do I know?" Solis chuckled coldly, "I know gods loathe you, despise you, but she couldn’t eradicate you herself. Because you created the God Eater, this evil life that can even consume gods!"
