Chapter 1172: Chapter 922: A Good Show
Disguised as Hayden, Long Yi edged closer to observe for a while. By now, almost no one in the Ancient Mage Tower was unaware of this Ascender’s host, and everyone had received orders. They were absolutely prohibited from clashing with him, allowing him to look at whatever he wanted and do as he pleased. That’s why it was almost entirely unimpeded here.
After observing a series of Arrays, Long Yi obtained some relevant data about the Teleportation Array. Then, the true body of Long Yi, hidden in Solis’s secret chamber, cast Magic, teleporting directly into that Teleportation Array!
The scientists conducting the teleportation experiments were immediately dumbfounded. How could it be that after just a few random trials, Long Yi suddenly popped up from the Teleportation Array?
When Long Yi appeared from within the Teleportation Array, he was first stunned, then burst into laughter, "Hahahaha! I was just conducting a teleportation experiment and didn’t expect that it would coincide with your trial? How could such good fortune exist in this world! Elma you old bastard! Today is your unlucky day!"
A group of researchers watched Long Yi leave with raucous laughter, and it took a while for someone to remember, "Quickly notify Master Zulal!"
At that moment, Zulal was pondering how to target the Ascender’s weaknesses, so as to find a way out for himself in the future, in case they truly turned against the Ascender. But just then, a researcher, clearly in a state of panic, suddenly contacted him. From the researcher’s irrational description, Zulal grasped the meaning—they were working on the Teleportation Gate research, but for some unknown reason, Long Yi had jumped out from the Teleportation Gate and was now heading toward the top of the Ancient Mage Tower, seeking out Master Elma!
The conclusion that was drawn frightened Zulal: the fact was that within the Ancient Mage Tower, no one was a match for Long Yi. Not the Black Crystal Mages, not the Crazy Demons, not himself, not even Master Elma! The past few times they had dealt with Long Yi, it was Master Elma who had controlled the tower’s internal traps to teleport Long Yi out.
But the problem was, control of those traps was in the hands of Master Elma! And Elma had no idea when he would wake up!
This was terrible! Moreover, Long Yi was charging toward the top, and as Long Yi had once had a close relationship with Master Elma, he knew the locations of most spaces on the top floor. If Long Yi barged in, Elma might not lose his life, as Long Yi still needed secrets from Master Elma, but Long Yi was capable of capturing him... alive!
"Stop him at all costs! Mobilize everyone who can fight! Stop him immediately!" Zulal directly issued the ultimate mobilization order. It was a command that could only be activated in an extreme crisis situation of the Ancient Mage Tower, a privilege specifically granted to him by Elma, for the purpose of marshaling the tower’s powers for battle, should Elma be temporarily absent or unable to issue orders.
The order was issued, and every warrior summoned, every idle Crazy Demon and Black Crystal Mage, began to converge towards the Ancient Mage Tower’s summit. Along the way, they happened to encounter Long Yi.
"Haha! Today is my lucky day! No one can stop me! I’m going to twist off Elma’s head and kick it like a ball!" Long Yi bellowed, knocking down everyone around him. His Cosmic Stone Greatsword glinted with light, and most who were struck by it would be cleaved in two!
Yet despite this, whether it was the Crazy Demons, the Black Crystal Mages, or even some regular Mages, they kept rushing forward one after another as if their lives were of no concern, their faces reflecting a strange fervor. But Long Yi didn’t care what they were thinking; he just fought his way through.
Zulal, at the top level, kept monitoring the progression of the situation. He wanted to wake Elma, but he felt that even awakening Elma would be of no help to the entire situation; no one here was a match for him!
As he watched Long Yi progressively nearing the top, and the number of interceptors dwindling,
suddenly, there was a noise outside the door, and it opened—it was Hayden who walked in.
"Hayden? Why are you here?" Zulal asked.
"My ancestors sent me to inform you that Master Elma is about to wake up, and he will be very hungry, but he must not eat anything. He must wait for three hours," Hayden said.
"Ah! No time for that now! Long Yi is coming!" Zulal said urgently, and then, his eyes suddenly lit up.
Yes! There was another person within the Ancient Mage Tower who was capable of defeating Long Yi—the Ascender!
"Long Yi is coming! Where?" Before Zulal could speak out, the gemstone atop Hayden’s head was already glowing.
"Lord Ascender! Due to an accident, Long Yi has suddenly appeared here, and he is now advancing toward the top floor! He is trying to take Master Elma captive!" Zulal said.
"Long Yi, oh Long Yi, you dare to show off in front of me with just this kind of ability?" Long Yi murmured his own name, tossing out the line.
"Please help us, Lord Ascender!" Zulal begged.
"Don’t worry, leave this matter to me!"
As he watched Hayden leave, Zulal felt as if he saw a glimmer of dawn amidst the darkness.
"What a mess, what happened?" came a hoarse voice. Zulal looked back and saw that Elma had woken up.
"Master Elma! You’ve awakened at just the right moment! Long Yi is here!"
Zulal hurriedly recounted what had transpired.
Upon hearing the story, Elma immediately cursed, "Those fools! They manage to attract Long Yi with a mere Teleportation Gate experiment!?"
Zulal hurriedly pointed at the monitoring screen, "Just moments ago, the Lord Ascender came here, and upon hearing about Long Yi’s appearance, he immediately rushed down."
At this moment in the scene, Long Yi, drenched in blood, just happened to meet Hayden, who rushed over in a hurry.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Let’s see who can defeat whom!" Elma said, and just then, his stomach growled.
"Zulal, give me some food," Elma said.
"I’m afraid that won’t do, Master Elma. The Ascender has instructed that upon awakening, you would feel hungry, but you absolutely must not eat anything within the next three hours," Zulal said.
Elma was left speechless, for his stomach was indeed very empty, desperately yearning for food.
"If the Ascender can defeat Long Yi, I believe that would bring more joy than any delicacy, don’t you think?" Elma consoled himself with these words.
At this point, Long Yi finally faced himself.
Essentially, both sides were Long Yi. The key to this reality show was to perform the play authentically.
"Long Yi, long time no see," the Ascender was the first to speak.
"Kid, if you think that embedding a Cosmic Stone in your forehead can defeat me, then I can only tell you, you’re thinking too much," Long Yi said with a smile.
"Is that so, Long Yi? I don’t recall teaching you that when I imparted knowledge to you," the Ascender said coldly.
"Imparting me knowledge? Stop talking nonsense! In this plane, there is only one person who can teach me anything..." Long Yi paused mid-sentence.
Long Yi began to scrutinize the young face before him carefully, or more precisely, the fragment of the Cosmic Stone on the young man’s forehead.
"Really, it’s been a long time, my teacher..." Long Yi said, the corners of his mouth trembling slightly.
"I’m flattered, I never expected to hear you call me ’teacher’ again!" the Ascender said, his voice filled with rage.
"Now that I think of it, I’m a bit perplexed. Instead of seeking out your descendants, Teacher, you stand before me as if you wish to do battle. What is this all about?" Long Yi asked, puzzled.
"Don’t you understand? This man, Hayden, he is my only descendant!" the Ascender declared loudly.
"Alright, alright, alright! Even so, I haven’t done anything to Hayden. Given that we have at least shared the bond of fellow Apostles, could you step aside?" Long Yi asked.
"No, Hayden values the Ancient Mage Tower deeply; he does not wish for you to destroy it," the Ascender said.
"Rest assured, I have no intention of doing so. My sole purpose in coming here is to find Elma and settle a personal grudge," Long Yi said.
"What I refer to as the Ancient Mage Tower encompasses everything within it, including Elma!" the Ascender said.
"Hey hey, despite you being my teacher, this is asking too much of me. I think you are unaware of what happened between me and Elma, right?" Long Yi said.
"Indeed, I do not know exactly, but all I am aware of is that Hayden wishes for Elma’s safety," the Ascender replied.
"Well, but Teacher, you must be very clear that your disciple is not one to give up so easily, right?" Long Yi took a couple of steps back, gripping the Cosmic Stone Greatsword in his hand even tighter.
"Yes, and it is for that reason that I decided to confront you personally," the Ascender said.
"Teacher, I think you’re not quite aware of what has transpired during the years you’ve been gone... and, I am no longer the same person I was before! If you truly won’t step aside, then I can only offer my apologies in advance!" Long Yi said, his eyebrows knitted tightly.
"Even so, what can you do?" the Ascender revealed a scornful smile.
"Please be assured, my teacher, Hayden will definitely not suffer a fatal injury!"
With that, Long Yi had already charged out.
And in Hayden’s hands, a greatsword of crystal emerged as well!
"Long Yi oh Long Yi! You’ve forgotten, it was I who gave you your Cosmic Stone Greatsword!" (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to recommend and vote on Qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
