Chapter 1163: Chapter 913: Fabricating a Story

The space barrier is almost the most powerful among all barrier-type magics, capable of directly severing space to block all enemy attacks, as well as preventing anyone from leaving.

At this moment, the only way to leave was to be able to cast space teleportation magic. But most of these people were magic researchers; how many of them were truly formidable mages? It was absolutely impossible to perform space teleportation magic in such a short time! Just then, one person took out a scroll from his personal space—a teleportation scroll meant to save his life, which he had extorted from an emperor when he first entered the surface world. He had never told anyone about it, thinking to keep it as his lifesaving tool. Now, it proved how wise his decision had been.

But the moment he took out the scroll, a mage behind him launched a Thunderstrike at him, paralyzing his whole body. He could only watch helplessly as his scroll was snatched away! And the person who took his scroll was actually his friend!

"It’s actually a teleportation scroll! Hahaha! I’m getting out of here first! You bunch of fools!"

As he said this, the man started to open the scroll, but when it was halfway open, a puff of smoke sprayed out from inside. The moment he smelled the smoke, he felt dizzy and his consciousness began to scatter. He fell to the ground, and the scroll dropped beside him.

"I knew there would be a struggle for it, but I never expected it would be you! My most trusted friend!" As the paralysis slightly subsided, he started to struggle toward the scroll. He hadn’t gone far when his legs started to twitch, and he fell to the ground. Yet, his will to survive wouldn’t let him stop; he continued to crawl forward.

The person whose consciousness was dissipating also forced himself to crawl towards the scroll. Even though he was closer to the scroll, because he couldn’t exert any strength, he was crawling even slower!

In the end, both hands grabbed the scroll at the same time, and both tried desperately to pull it toward themselves. The originally intact scroll was torn in half!

"Damn it! You bastard! I trusted you so much, I even showed you my most perfect research results, and this is how you repay me!" the person who had made a move for the scroll roared.

"To stealthily attack a friend who trusts you, and then shamelessly spout nonsense here—how can there be such an idiot as you in this world?" The person who was gradually recovering from the paralysis came to his former friend’s side, stepped heavily on his arm, and forced him to let go of the scroll. But even so, the now-damaged scroll had already lost its intended function. And at that moment, the red light enveloping Hayden had already started to cover him.

"Forget it, it doesn’t matter anymore."

The red light exploded in a roar, engulfing both of them.

It was then that everyone realized that neither begging for mercy nor escaping was possible anymore. Suddenly, one person shouted, "We can’t leave! Let’s fight him with all we’ve got!"

Fight with all we’ve got!

Driven by the instinct to survive, everyone was filled with fighting spirit in an instant. They gathered together, causing a mana resonance, and activated all the magics they could think of, bombarding Hayden with all their might.

However, this mighty assault only managed to delay things slightly.

Not a single magic caused any harm to Hayden, no shield could withstand the pounding of the red light, and no one was able to delay their death.

Nothing changed.

Under the envelopment of the red light, absolutely no one in the entire restaurant was spared, and certainly, no one could escape. It didn’t take long before there were no more living beings in the restaurant.

Long Yi lifted the space barrier, floating in mid-air as he left the restaurant, where many people had already gathered outside.

"Those who covet my power, small fry!" Long Yi bellowed, and began to attack the onlookers indiscriminately. Those who were originally just curious about what had happened here immediately faced a catastrophe!

This incident was almost immediately reported to Elma. In fact, Elma had always ordered some people to secretly monitor Hayden; on one hand, he didn’t know what kind of background that so-called ancestor of Hayden really had. On the other hand, he was also worried that someone would provoke him and cause unnecessary trouble.

But he never imagined that in just a blink of an eye, such a large group of people could create such a huge mess.

When Elma arrived at the scene, Hayden really had already carved a bloody path out.

And at that moment, the red light had already enveloped Elma!

"Please don’t attack! I come with goodwill!" Elma shouted loudly, taking a gamble that this powerful consciousness should remember him.

"Is it you?" Hayden really stopped the attack, slowly floating closer to Elma, looking down at him from above.

"Yes, I am Elma, the master of this place. I am very sorry for what just happened. I promise you that such an incident will never happen again. So, may I ask you to extinguish your anger?" Elma tried his best to lower his stance.

"This child’s memory tells me you are a trustworthy person, so I accept your request," Long Yi said, feeling very majestic.

"Thank you for your magnanimity." Elma had no heart at the moment, but since becoming one of the Crazy Demons, he had seldom been so nervous.

"All those who coveted my power have been given fair punishment, yet this feeble body is not enough to sustain my presence, thus I must continue to slumber," Long Yi said.

"May I ask you to wait a moment? I have many questions to consult you about... Of course, they are just questions, no need to waste your power, nor will it take too much of your time," Elma tentatively asked.

Long Yi furrowed his brow, "I can sense you are pushing your luck, mortal."

Elma kept his smile, saying, "It is not pushing luck, great powerhouse, for we are the weak, and while we maintain our reverence for the strong, we also harbor a bit of curious fascination."

Long Yi fell silent for a while, then spoke, "I just inquired with this child, and he told me you are a trustworthy elder, and he has asked me to assist you, so be it, I can waste some of my precious time on you."

Elma felt speechless. What does he mean by wasting some precious time on me? How he put it! Of course, speechless was all he was; he dared not show it. The power this powerhouse showed was overwhelmingly strong, something that ordinary people could not achieve. He wanted to understand what was actually happening.

Long Yi followed Elma to an elegant reception room at the top of the Ancient Mage Tower, where one could see the cosmic stars.

"Please, have a seat," Elma said.

Long Yi retracted his mana, no longer levitating, and the mana stopped radiating from his eyes, with only the gem on his forehead still shining brightly.

"I need some liquids and food," Long Yi said.

Elma immediately gestured to Zulal, who quickly gave orders, and soon exquisite beverages and pastries were served before Long Yi.

Long Yi picked up a pastry, stuffed it into his mouth, and then savored it carefully. After a long while, he let out a breath, his face nostalgic, "I can’t even remember the last time I ate something myself."

Elma nodded; he had turned into a Crazy Demon not too long ago. Even though he didn’t need food now, he occasionally reminisced about that sensation.

"Can you tell me about your matters?" Elma asked.

"I... am an Ascender, an existence even Giants do not permit!" Long Yi fabricated an incomparable background story for himself.

The story went somewhat like this.

Long ago, Giants began to create life and aid it. Then they saw a life form that seemed to display extraordinary talent, so they continually did their utmost to assist him. One day, that life form suddenly erupted with a might so powerful, it nearly killed all life on the planet.

He proclaimed himself an Ascender, meaning he was a great existence far surpassing ordinary people.

This revelation surprised the Giants, who also decided it shouldn’t be left unchecked, so a Giant completely sealed the Ascender’s power. By that time, though, the Ascender had already passed all his knowledge to his people, and they had scattered to various planes. Subsequently, Ascenders were born one after another, dominating vast regions. Feeling duped, the Giants grew furious. They captured all the Ascenders and utterly destroyed their power. Yet one person managed to avoid this fate through a special method.

"I stole a shard of the Cosmic Stone," Long Yi said with a mysterious smile. "A Cosmic Stone shard can become everything and contain everything. I hid here with all my knowledge, but unfortunately, I could only retain a small part of my tremendous power. Even so, I am still the most powerful being in this Plane!"

Long Yi did not craft this story to be too perfect; it was even lacking in detail, but Elma chose to believe him, because it sounded all the more genuine.

"So, how did you come to be here?" Elma continued to inquire.

"I have been in slumber all along, keeping myself hidden for fear of being discovered by the Giants. Not long ago, I was awakened by an immense force. I spent days after waking trying to sense the presence of Giants. When I realized they were no longer in this Plane, I knew my opportunity had come. I have retained all my memories and consciousness in the Cosmic Stone, but I still need a real body to unleash my power. And my direct descendant will be able to wield my power unimpeded. In this long search, I have inhabited the bodies of some, using their power to help me find my descendant. I turned them into unparalleled powerhouses, but I never found one. So later, I abandoned them and began to search alone throughout the Plane. Finally, I found him—Hayden!"

Long Yi’s ability to concoct stories was quite strong, and he was attempting to steer the conversation in a particular direction. And evidently, Elma picked up on a certain detail in it.

"Are you saying that you have helped some people become powerhouses?"

Elma inquired.

"Yes, that’s easy," Long Yi said.

"May I know their names?" Elma asked.

"Certainly, they were Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers, and Long Yi," Long Yi said. (To be continued.
