Chapter 1152: Chapter 902 Pirate Tactics
"This... you are making it very difficult for me, Long Yi said with a smile still on his face. "What if one day I lose my senses, and without a second thought, decide to just get rid of the key, my memories, and just wipe you and your broken spaceship out of existence? What then?"
"But at least you’re not planning to do that now," Elma said.
"Fine, you win. I’m indeed in a hurry. I think you should start praying now because I’m also researching how to enter the middle planes with magic. And once I succeed, trust me, Mr. Elma, no matter where in the universe you hide, I can find you in three minutes. Then I’ll turn you, your Ancient Mage Tower, and all the Crystal Poison creatures on that broken spaceship of yours to dust," Long Yi said.
Elma believed that this wasn’t a mere threat. From past examples, it was clear that Long Yi was indeed a man who held grudges. And once he set his mind on something, it would never end easily.
"I believe you, and luckily for now you don’t have that technology. Plus, I doubt you’ll last long enough to get it," Elma retorted.
"Then let’s wait and see, oh, and by the way, I heard that Giant’s legacy is about to appear again. Could there be data about a plane transmission device inside? How exciting," Long Yi said, then suddenly accelerated straight toward the Ancient Mage Tower!
"Activate the barrier!"
Boom!
Long Yi’s entire Crystal Stone armor was shattered by the spaceship’s barrier, and Long Yi himself, lying on the barrier, with one hand sliced through it and charged straight for the top of the Ancient Mage Tower!
Elma had not anticipated that Long Yi would suddenly charge at him. In a rush, just as he was about to activate the defense system, a loud bang sounded, and Long Yi, engulfed in flames, burst in.
Looking at that transparent head beneath the robe, Long Yi spread a ferocious grin across his face.
"Hello there, Master Elma, I’ve missed you a lot!"
Little Zi immediately summoned by the contract conjured full-powered spiritual shackles upon Elma. But almost simultaneously, Little Zi shook her head: "No good, his consciousness is no longer here."
"Damn it!"
A twitch ran through the corners of Long Yi’s mouth as he drew his Cosmic Stone Greatsword.
"Since we’re here, we can’t let this time go to waste, can we?"
He cleaved multiple Destruction Ripples in a row, and the intricately decorated room was instantly demolished. Little Zi even summoned thirteen avatars, whose mental powers scanned continuously, ready to pull out anyone hiding nearby. Long Yi started a complete rampage, leaving only piles of rubble wherever he went.
The range of the Ancient Mage Tower was extremely vast. If it was Elma’s former body, Long Yi would have been able to find him immediately, but since he had turned into a Crazy Demon, Long Yi could no longer sense him, as there were simply too many Crazy Demons here.
However, Long Yi suddenly remembered something.
He covertly told Little Zi to immediately rush to the power chamber at the lower level of the Ancient Mage Tower, where there was a core and Array for spatial transmission. He instructed Little Zi to tamper with it to ensure that every transmission from the Ancient Mage Tower would leave a specific trace. Normally imperceptible to most, this trace could be captured by a Cosmic Accelerator. This tracking magic was also a product of recent explorations of the Cosmic Accelerator by Ai Lin and Little Zi.
"Elma, you old bastard, come out!" Long Yi yelled, while simultaneously shattering a few assaults from Crazy Demons. The Cosmic Stone Greatsword could mimic the frequency of a Crazy Demon’s Crystal Core. The Destruction Ripples destroyed the crystal surface, and the subsequent vibrations shattered the Crystal Core.
Another reason Long Yi was causing such destruction was to find the Black Dragon. After all, that was a promise he had made.
However, such matters would be extremely covert for Elma. Long Yi demolished many places but found neither Elma nor the Black Dragon.
And the moment Long Yi stepped into a particular room, a huge Array suddenly materialized around him!
"Damn it! This shit again? Xiaodie!" Long Yi instantly summoned Xiaodie by the power of the contract.
"Master? What happened? Eh?"
Boom!
A spatial tremor hit, and Long Yi, along with Xiaodie, was transported into a small escape pod. The escape pod experienced another spatial tremor, and when they reappeared, they found themselves amidst two stars entwined with each other!
The high temperature radiated from the stars instantly melted the escape pod. Xiaodie, however, was drooling.
"Wow! Food!"
The moment the escape pod turned to gas, Xiaodie had already unfurled her massive butterfly wings. The stellar material from the twisting stars, about to fuse together, was now being drawn into Xiaodie’s wings by another massive gravitational force. The massive shift in mass caused instability in the surrounding gravity, but the space around Xiaodie remained incredibly stable!
Long Yi took cover behind Xiaodie, watching as several asteroids were smashed by the gravitational turbulence, then turned to dust and were sucked into the stars, and subsequently into Xiaodie’s wings.
Xiaodie’s originally black hair had turned fiery red at the tips after she last devoured a star, and now the red portion was slowly growing longer.
From the original energy-devouring insect to the current Xiaodie, this mysterious race truly made Long Yi feel somewhat perplexed. Could they possibly have been born from within a black hole? Where exactly did the material and energy they absorbed go?
No, no, no, best not to think about these things for now. It was more pressing to consider the battle far beyond his control—how was it going?
After landing, Lyd Jon immediately contacted the other five with whom he had a tacit understanding. The six didn’t rush into battle but instead quickly gathered at the prearranged location. Once assembled, the group of six led a force of six thousand and concealed themselves in the wild.
In any battle, one should never be at the forefront—this is a basic survival skill. It’s known that in any war, it’s not about who can kill more enemies, but about who can ultimately stay alive.
So, these six did not take action but instead patiently waited for the battle to commence.
This time they were attacking a small nation, so minor that ten Semi-Crazy Demon Mages could completely overthrow it. Yet, the goal wasn’t to conquer this nation, but rather to lure out the Divine Armor Mages and ultimately defeat them.
As expected, the battle began swiftly. Some who were eager to make a name for themselves led the Semi-Crazy Demons in a fierce assault. The military of that nation surrendered without even putting up a proper resistance. These small nations’ emperors had already been forewarned by Long Yi, to never resist under any circumstances.
Although a string of victories didn’t immediately fill them with confidence, it at least boosted their spirits.
Just as anticipated, half an hour after they reached the planet, the first spaceship loaded with Divine Armor Mages had already arrived in outer space. In another half hour, the spaceship would reach the planet’s orbit, and then the Divine Armor Mages would descend from the heavens in droves.
Before that happened, they needed to be prepared to meet the enemy.
Half an hour’s time was almost perfect for preparing a strategic spell, and almost every commander thought so unanimously.
So, during the wait, nearly every commander began organizing their forces to prepare for strategic magic. Their plan was to shoot down those Divine Armor Mages in midair.
Meanwhile, Lyd Jon and his companions remained hidden, biding their time in a cave. They patiently awaited the ensuing developments and changes.
Soon, the Divine Armor Mages descended from the sky, and various strategic magics, ready to be unleashed, erupted towards them.
Lyd Jon and Lucas, along with the other four, emerged from their hiding place to witness the massive spells burst open in the distant sky.
"I guess they’re all going to be wiped out," Lucas said.
"Haven’t they learned their lesson from the last defensive counter-attack array? Now they even dare to use strategic magic again?" Lyd Jon shook his head.
"Maybe they think that with more spells and increased power, they’ll succeed this time," another person added.
"I think we don’t even need to show up; let’s just honestly wait here until it’s over. Elma won’t give us the Black Crystal Mages until we have Hei Jing," Lucas remarked.
"No, if we go back empty-handed like this, he’s even less likely to give us the Black Crystal Mages," Lyd Jon countered.
"Then, do you have a plan?" someone asked.
"Don’t forget, we’re all pirates, and since we’re pirates, we have our pirate ways of fighting," Lyd Jon said with a smile.
At that moment, the Divine Armor Mage troops rapidly descending from the sky received an alarm. The fluctuations from the strategic spells were astoundingly strong, and with so many appearing simultaneously, it was hardly surprising they were detected.
"All units immediately disengage Divine Armor and evade!" the Commander bellowed.
The troops, who had been rapidly descending, swiftly stowed away their already deployed Divine Armor back into their personal space. Without the cumbersome armor, the Mages’ movements became much more flexible. A series of group ’Sail with the Wind’ spells were cast, and the initially large cluster immediately scattered in different directions.
Apart from a very few target-locking spells, the majority of those powerful strategic spells were of the non-targeting variety. Due to the great distance between the two sides, even the targeting spells would have a hard time catching up, let alone the non-targeting spells.
This change somewhat surprised the commanders below, as in countless past battles, all Divine Armor Mages behaved the same—they always engaged firmly to the end, never flinching. But now, the Divine Armor Mages, who were supposed to tough it out against the strategic spells according to the plan, fled!
Strategic spells were ready to be unleashed, and it was impossible to hold back at this stage—not casting them was even more unthinkable! The Divine Armor Mages were rapidly approaching, and it would be too late for countermeasures if the spells weren’t cast now!
"Fire!" The order came from a commander who had prepared a fixed position strategic spell. All he wanted to do at this moment was smack himself twice in the face.
"Try to aim at the more crowded areas!" This order was issued by a commander who had prepared non-targeting strategic magic, and all he could hope for now was that his spells would fly over and kill as many as possible.
"Never mind, just lock onto any one person and cast," came the order from another commander who had prepared targeting spells. Alas, locking onto any target wouldn’t affect more people, it was as good as hoping to take out as many as possible with a one-hit kill! (To be continued.
