Chapter 1136: Chapter 886 Awakening
"Just to be clear, I can’t possibly lift the curse from every Dragon Clan member, I will first choose those who were friendly to the Giants in the past," Long Yi said. He didn’t lower his voice because these Dragon Clan members were using magic to sleep deeply; their breathing and heartbeats were extremely slow, sometimes beating only once every few minutes. Reducing the body’s functions to an extreme could greatly prolong life.
"Yes, I understand..." An old dragon nodded and then took Long Yi to the place where the White Dragons were sleeping. If any Dragon Clan member was fond of Giants, the White Dragon was certainly at the top of the list.
Awakening the Dragon Clan required a special spell, and it took some time for the spell to take effect and the Dragon Clan members to wake up. During this time, their breathing and heartbeats would gradually increase, consciousness would slowly return, and metabolism would resume to normal levels.
These details were recorded on Giant tablets.
There were more than two hundred White Dragons here, and Long Yi cast a mass awakening spell directly. Seeing Long Yi use Dragon Power to cast Dragon Clan magic, the old dragon felt somewhat relieved. These Dragon Clan spells were not easy to cast, involving extremely complex changes. Not to mention outsiders, even the Dragon Clan members themselves might not always succeed. Seeing Long Yi effortlessly casting Dragon Clan magic, at least the old dragon felt more confident about Long Yi lifting the curse on the Dragon Clan.
The recovery time of the Dragon Clan was about ten hours, and the old dragon couldn’t wait here for ten hours. He chatted with Long Yi about how he had become Emperor, then returned to the Imperial Palace, after all, it was inappropriate for the Emperor to disappear without a trace.
"It’s quite surprising that a dragon could manage a kingdom so well," Little Zi said.
"An Emperor alone can never manage a kingdom perfectly; rather, this old dragon seems quite good at choosing the right people," Ai Lin said.
"But if we wake these dragons up, will they really join us?" Silver Dragon asked worriedly. After all, these dragons had just come out of a war. They had lost their power and had been forced into sleep; though much time had passed, to the dragons freshly awakened from their dreams, it felt as if it had been only yesterday.
"That’s why, when they wake up, we won’t be here," Long Yi said.
Time passed bit by bit; the bodies of the White Dragons began to produce a series of cracking sounds; these were the noises of the valves within their blood vessels dissolving and shattering. The massive bodies of the Dragon Clan, sleeping in the same position for a long time, led to blood pooling in the lower parts. While they slept, thick blood vessels would form valves to prevent the accumulation of blood. When the dragons awakened, the quickening heartbeat and rising blood pressure would burst these valves, and eventually, the valves would dissolve away.
Now it was night, and the old dragon had also arrived, while Long Yi and the others hid on the side.
Finally, the White Dragons began to wake up one by one. The first White Dragon who woke up thought it was his turn, but when he saw all the White Dragons around him were also awake, he was puzzled.
"What’s going on, my brother?" the White Dragon asked in the Dragon language.
The old dragon showed his Dragon Clan body, glanced at the White Dragons who had not yet woken up, and said, "Be patient, my brother, when they are all awake, I will explain everything."
The White Dragons woke up one after another, gathering together, puzzled. They were very weak right after waking up; even standing was a bit difficult, but their strong bodies would soon adapt to this world, and they became more spirited.
"So, my brothers and sisters, now that you are all awake, welcome to the world ten thousand years later," the old Black Dragon said.
"Ten thousand years?" the dragons marveled collectively, astonished they had slept for so long.
"Yes, ten thousand years. In these ten thousand years, I, like the past five brothers, have guarded our sleeping ground, waiting for the call of the Dragon Star. Waiting for the curse to be lifted, but ten thousand years have passed, and there’s been no sign of the Dragon Star, the curse indestructible," said the old Black Dragon.
"There’s nothing that can be done; after all, it was our fault, and we are still alive," one White Dragon said, his words immediately echoed by the White Dragons around him.
"Thus, I have awakened you today because there is a matter upon which I wish to consult with you. There is someone who hopes to leverage your strength in battle. I dare not decide on my own, so I had to wake you, allowing you to make your own decision," the old Black Dragon said.
"Who is this person? A human? A Human?" some of the Black Dragons asked.
At this point, Silver Dragon showed her true form, an awe-inspiring silver Flying Dragon, soaring from afar and then landing in front of the White Dragons. This Silver Dragon was larger and more slender than any Black or White Dragon present, her sleek lines reflecting the surrounding light, breathtaking even to the Dragon Clan. But she too was without any Dragon Power—was she also cursed?
Ai Lin spread her wings and approached the group of White Dragons, transforming to show her dragon horns to prove her Dragon Clan identity. Her formidable Dragon Power and body surrounded by magical Runes emitted dazzling light.
"Is she also from the Dragon Clan? Why haven’t we seen her before? Why isn’t she affected by the curse?" whispered the White Dragons among themselves.
Long Yi descended last with Little Zi behind him.
"Greetings, everyone," Long Yi said with a smile, looking at each of the White Dragons before him. Having been away from the Human Realm for so long, seeing the White Dragons again was truly heartwarming. Unlike the White Dragons from the Human Realm, the ones before him seemed immensely powerful, even though they were unable to use Fighting Aura or Mana, their sheer Dragon Power was already astonishing.
Indeed, this was the adaptability of the Dragon Clan. In the Human Realm, their powers were suppressed by rules, even their own bodily strength was constrained. But here, without those rules, this was probably their true power.
"Hello, may I ask who you are and why you need our power?" An elder White Dragon approached, lowered its head, and inquired of Long Yi.
"I am Long Yi, and I have recently encountered a rather troublesome enemy. I’m not sure if I can handle him on my own, so I believe that seeking the help of the Dragon Clan is my wisest choice," Long Yi said.
"If it were ten thousand years ago, I could admit that our Dragon Clan was the strongest race in the entire multiverse, aside from the Giants. But now, I can only regretfully tell you that we are no longer the powerful Dragon Clan we once were; we are enduring a punishment for the mistakes we made and no longer possess that invincible power," the White Dragon said.
"Then, do you wish to regain your strength?" Long Yi inquired.
"Of course, we do. For more than a thousand years, we have watched our kin age one after the other without leaving any offspring. But this is a punishment from the Giants. What can you do about it?" the elder White Dragon replied.
"The thing is, I am a Giant," Long Yi said with a smile.
"What?" At this moment, a group of White Dragons all widened their eyes.
Long Yi had always used a Giant’s mask in his private space to conceal his Giant attributes, but now he had removed that disguise, and almost at the same time, every dragon could see Long Yi’s uniqueness!
"Such a tremendous Giant power! You are a Pioneer!" the elder White Dragon exclaimed excitedly.
"Yes!" said Long Yi.
"Could it be that the Giants have decided to forgive us?" the White Dragon became even more agitated.
"That, I don’t know. My mission is not about that," Long Yi said.
"..." Upon hearing this, all the White Dragons fell silent.
"However, I can help lift part of the curse for you," Long Yi offered.
"Really?"
"Of course, it’s real. Do you think I would come here and joke with you for no reason?" Long Yi said laughingly.
"We are truly grateful to you! We never wanted to see a war between the Giants and the Dragon Clan. We have also repeatedly asked the Dragon Emperor to retract his command, but we really do not know what happened that prompted the Dragon Emperor to be so determined to go to war with the Giants," the elder White Dragon said.
"That is actually something I’m very puzzled about too," Long Yi said, "Every dragon I meet is unaware of what exactly happened back then. It seems that only by finding the Dragon Emperor will things become clear."
The elder White Dragon nodded in agreement with Long Yi’s words.
Long Yi then briefly narrated to the group of White Dragons about the events that had taken place in this plane. At first, the White Dragons listened as if they were hearing a story. But when Long Yi mentioned that the children of the Black Dragon had been forcibly taken by the Ancient Mage Tower, and it was to protect those who were still in slumber, the White Dragons immediately became enraged.
"Pioneer, everyone here is our brother. Although we have different personalities, I believe that even the Black Dragons can now understand the wrongs of war. So I request that you also awaken the Black Dragons? If they hear that their sibling’s children have been taken away, they will surely do everything in their power to help you," the elder White Dragon said.
"This matter..." Long Yi thought carefully about the events that had occurred in the Human Realm and eventually shook his head. "Let’s discuss this matter later. From my past interactions with the Black Dragons, I can’t deny that there are some kind-hearted individuals among them, but most of the Black Dragons I know are indeed too unfriendly, which is why I chose to awaken you first."
The elder Black Dragon shook his head reluctantly, admitting that what Long Yi said was true.
The elder White Dragon also knew this, so he could only cast an apologetic glance at the elder Black Dragon.
"I have lived alongside various dragons for eighteen years, and the ones I came into contact with the most were the White Dragons. That’s why I have previously helped some White Dragons alleviate part of their curse, and even completely lifted the curse from a few. However, I’m not sure how you differ from the White Dragons I know, so I need to conduct a simple check on you first. Don’t worry, it’s quick and painless," Long Yi said.
Long Yi took out a syringe and drew blood from some of the White Dragons. He then took those blood samples back to the Great Explorer to run a series of tests. The results proved that these White Dragons were no different from the White Dragons of the Human Realm.
This made things much easier. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to go to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendation tickets and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
