Chapter 1132: Chapter 882: Not Afraid of Making a Big Deal
"Is this what the two children have come up with during this period?"
In the intermediate plane, within the Spatial and Fissure Technology Research Institute, Dean Zuo La took a report from Zemir’s hands—the research results of two little girls, Lily and Sasa, from the recent period.
"Yes, in order to test the true strength of these children, I gave them the subjects that we’ve researched over the past half year but haven’t published yet. And now, as you can see, out of thirty-seven questions, they’ve given correct answers to eleven in less than a month, with six answers wrong but the process correct—probably due to miscalculation or lack of attention. They didn’t understand two of the questions, and the rest are parts they haven’t seen yet," Zemir explained from the side.
A group of experts crowded around, passing the research report of Lily and Sasa between them.
"Are you saying that these two sisters have solved nineteen questions in less than a month, and aside from the two they didn’t understand, they have theoretically solved the other seventeen questions?" Zuo La asked.
"Yes, that’s correct. Among them, the solutions for four of the questions are even simpler and clearer than the agreed-upon answers we already have. I’ve marked them with a pen," Zemir said.
"Do you understand what this means?" Zuo La asked the people around him with a smile.
"We’ve struck gold," a researcher said.
"Exactly! And it also means that our plan to awaken the Star Devourers can be significantly accelerated!" Zuo La handed the report back to Zemir and then said, "Let’s go, let’s go see these two little geniuses!"
Zemir immediately led the way, with Zuo La following close behind. The researchers around them looked at Zemir with envy. Though they had many excellent talents, none had ever been as astonishing as these sisters. If the sisters truly entered the core research level, then as their supervisor, Zemir’s status would surely rise with the tide.
How could this not make people envious!
It was lunchtime, and Ruosha and Isrile were not in the lab but in the dining hall eating. Failing to find them in the lab, Zuo La and Zemir immediately headed to the dining hall, only to see the main door of the dining hall blown open by a tremendous force, and a person flying out amidst the splintered wood directly towards Zuo La. Zuo La raised his hand to erect a shield, blocking the cascading debris and the incoming person, only to see that this person was also one of his researchers. However, at this moment, he had just been bombed with magic, and though he was only lying there, the blood seeping out soon stained the floor red, indicating severe injuries.
Just as Zemir and Zuo La were about to go in to see what exactly had happened, Ruosha and Isrile came out, with Ruosha hiding behind Isrile almost in the role of the timid younger sister, while Isrile was naturally the dominant older sister.
"To dare provoke even my sister! It seems you’re tired of living! Having no strength is one thing, but to still try to show off when you have none? Who gave you the courage? You dare to come and threaten me with such an insignificant level of power? It’s utterly ridiculous!" Isrile said, clearly still not having vented her anger. She simply moved closer and kicked the already unconscious person a few times, then, huffing with irritation, pulled Ruosha away with her.
"What happened here?" Zuo La and Zemir, who had been ignored from the beginning, pulled aside a researcher who was watching the excitement and asked. They then got the story from the researcher.
As it turned out, Lily and Sasa had been busy with the bag full of subjects Zemir had set for them recently. However, with their flamboyant personalities, it was natural they wouldn’t just quietly study. Every time they figured out the answer to a question, they would always celebrate ostentatiously, which seemed somewhat out of place in the atmosphere of the entire research institute. Zemir, of course, knew the personalities of the two sisters; firstly, because Zemir knew that was just the way Lily and Sasa were, and secondly, he thought that was just cute for little girls and nothing serious.
Zemir didn’t realize how much pressure this pair of sisters had brought to everyone around. Everyone in this place was a genius among geniuses, all with an inflated sense of self-importance, looking down on anyone but themselves, and absolutely not believing anyone could be better. So when they found out that these two young sisters had solved in such a short time the problems that had troubled them for long, skepticism naturally followed.
Most people’s doubts would remain unspoken, but not someone today. Today, as Lily and Sasa had just arrived at the dining hall and hadn’t eaten much, this person approached them.
"Admit it, you cheated," the person said.
"What? What are you talking about?" Sasa asked, puzzled.
"You cheated, kids. I don’t know what benefits you’ve given Zemir, but I’m sure that no one could provide such detailed and correct answers to these questions in such a short time!" the person continued.
"Are you an idiot? Oh, right, you must be an idiot, because only an idiot would think everyone in the world is as idiotic as he is," Isrile retorted with scorn.
"Look at this key question! You used a formula here! This is something we’ve just researched! We haven’t even published it yet! If you didn’t bribe Zemir, how could you possibly use this formula? You two shameless little things!" he accused.
Upon hearing this, Sasa immediately hid behind Lily, crying her eyes out, while Lily instantly got furious.
"You scum, you really dare to say such things!"
The circumstances were extremely odd back then, with Lily, who was clearly much younger, calling the other a little bastard.
"You little shit, what did you say?" Being called a little bastard by a little girl, the researcher, who had initially intended to mock her, immediately glared with his eyebrows knitted tightly.
"Little bastard, do you plan to apologize now, or do you want this old lady to beat you half to death before forcing you to apologize?" Despite her short stature, Lily had an imposing aura, as if she had become a different person.
"You little brat..."
Boom!
Before the researcher could finish speaking, he had already been blown into the air by a magic missile. This magic missile contained special spatial fluctuations. Although its power wasn’t too great, the impact force was extremely high. After being launched into the sky, the researcher wasn’t seriously injured, but a series of subsequent magic missiles prevented him from landing! After being bombarded by magic missiles for a full three minutes, Sasa, who had been hiding behind Lily, suddenly cast a magic spell.
Nobody around could recognize what the spell was, but they saw Sasa simply push her hands gently forward, and the researcher was sent flying, crashing through the restaurant’s main door. What happened next was exactly what Zemir and Zuo La had seen.
"Lord Zuo La! I swear to you! I absolutely did not help Lily and Sasa cheat! With your wisdom, you would be able to tell at a glance if they were cheating; how could I dare deceive you?" Zemir said excitedly.
"I believe you, you don’t need to rush to explain to me. On one hand, I trust your character. Although you are always somewhat impetuous and proud, your heart for the great Star Devourers is true. You are well aware that cheating is of no use in aiding the great Star Devourers, so you definitely wouldn’t do such a thing; on the other hand, some of the formulas these children used were indeed recently researched, but there was a portion of the content even you didn’t know, which was clearly written in their research steps. Therefore, I am convinced that in this matter, you are certainly innocent," Zuo La said.
"Thank you, Lord Zuo La!" Zemir was delighted that Zuo La trusted him; it was the greatest praise for his loyalty. But then he had a thought, as if there was more to what Zuo La had said.
"Lord Zuo La, if you don’t suspect me, do you suspect them?" Zemir asked quietly.
"Yes, I think this matter is a bit too abnormal," Zuo La said.
At this point, the two had already left the restaurant, but they didn’t go to find Lily and Sasa, because this unexpected incident had also aroused Zuo La’s suspicions.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, these two geniuses seem too normal. I suspect someone among us is helping them in secret," Zuo La said.
"Who could it be?" Zemir asked, puzzled.
"Who it could be is not important. What’s important is that we need to prove that these two children are truly geniuses useful to the great Star Devourers. Our goal is very clear, as long as we can awaken the great Star Devourers, it doesn’t matter who they are. But if they are just two deceitful impostors, then I won’t mind teaching these two children a lesson, to teach them not to easily deceive adults!"
"What shall we do?" Zemir asked.
"I will personally choose a medium-sized problem, one that none of us have researched before. Then I will select three research groups as a comparison to conduct the research with them. I will give them another month to see the final result!" Zuo La said.
"But Lord Zuo La, isn’t a medium-sized problem a bit too difficult? Especially since we haven’t researched it before, that means there is no correlation with prior research, such out-of-thin-air research..." Zemir said nervously.
"Haha, don’t worry. I’m not actually asking them to come up with the answer to a problem for me; I just want to see their research process and how they go about it!" Zuo La said.
"You are wise, my lord!" Zemir said happily.
When Zuo La and Zemir found Lily and Sasa, Lily, the hot-tempered little girl, had actually smashed the laboratory of the researcher who had provoked them! Looking at the two sisters, Lily and Sasa, standing amidst the ruins, Zemir suddenly said to Zuo La, "I don’t know why, but suddenly, I feel even more confident about these two little girls."
Zuo La also smiled.
Indeed, if they were really impostors, they would have preferred to keep a lower profile. But unexpectedly, they really weren’t afraid of stirring up trouble. (To be continued.
