Chapter 1118: Chapter 871: Misjudgment?
"Sword King, you need to calm down; things haven’t gotten this bad. Can we talk this over?" Long Yi urgently said.
"Prove your strength then, Giant. And that little Female Demon, you can stop hoping to use your psychic powers to ambush me—I’ve been specifically warned to watch out for your sneak psychic attacks."
Little Zi, of course, didn’t believe it, but when her first wave of mental probing sank without a trace, she knew that the other party must have been well prepared.
The pearl at the center of Sword King’s fan-shaped shell emitted a brilliant light. Under the luminance, even Long Yi felt dizzy, and Little Zi was extremely distressed. Long Yi quickly pushed Little Zi behind him, shielding her from the light. Meanwhile, Brick and the Bone King simultaneously lowered their visors to protect their eyes from the brightness.
"Long Yi! What do we do?" Brick asked loudly, as the dark, oppressive creatures surged towards them, overwhelming and terrifying.
"We can’t possibly win," the Bone King said nervously.
"Win, we can, but I cannot," Long Yi said.
"Why?" the Bone King asked perplexedly.
"Because I am in the wrong," Long Yi said.
"In the wrong? He, a created being, dares to challenge his creator; why are you the one in the wrong?"
"As a created being, you have challenged me as well."
"That’s different! Back then, I was simply seeking death!"
"So what do you think it’s doing?"
The Bone King immediately widened his eyes in astonishment.
"Indeed, Giant, if you give up resistance, you will die. And if you fight back, the only way to end this is to kill me. Trust me, you won’t be able to escape," Sword King’s pearl shone even brighter, astonishingly isolating all the surrounding space!
"Sword King! Don’t do this! Anything can be changed!" the Bone King shouted loudly.
"No, nothing can be changed anymore. Either I die, or he dies," Sword King stated resolutely.
Long Yi had been observing the pearl in Sword King’s possession all along; after pondering for a while, he nodded and said, "If this is your will, I will satisfy you!"
Long Yi roared, "Xiaodie!"
Xiaodie, in a black long dress, flew out of Long Yi’s space. Her butterfly wings were completely red with fire, as were the tips of her hair.
"Burn everything around us to the ground!"
"You got it!" Xiaodie, not even a creature of this universe, felt no psychological burden in obeying any of Long Yi’s commands.
Stellar Material was released, at first just a bit. But even that bit was enough to ignite the surrounding air!
"Turn to gas for me!"
Boom!
Stellar Material burst forth in abundance, immediately reducing surrounding entities—whether Sword Ghosts, Sword Stars, Sword Cores, or even Sword Slaves—into gas under its extreme heat. Almost simultaneously, the surrounding Space Barrier dissipated.
The blinding light forced those in the distance to take cover behind the hillside, not wishing to experience the sensation of staring directly into the sun.
"The contract has disappeared?" Landers exclaimed in surprise, discovering that the contract between himself and the Sword King had vanished! Could it be that Long Yi had actually killed the Sword King? Impossible, right? If that were true, it would be terrifyingly formidable.
Landers tried to call out to the Sword King through the contract, but the contract had indeed disappeared and there was no response from the Sword King.
"What’s happened, Landers?" a Mage from the Ancient Mage Tower shouted at him. They all dared not look up, for the heat radiating from that spot could instantly burn them to a crisp.
"I don’t know, but the Sword King’s contract is gone," Landers said.
"What? The contract is gone? So, the Sword King has been killed? Damn! What are we waiting for? Let’s run!" These Mages from the Ancient Mage Tower were well aware of Long Yi’s reputation and dared not provoke him needlessly.
"What? Do you all not plan to watch to the end?"
A girl’s voice came from the sky, and everyone looked up to see that it was Little Zi!
"Female Demon Little Zi!" they exclaimed in surprise.
"Don’t panic! What are you afraid of? We all have headbands that can resist psychic Magic!" the leader bellowed.
"Hmm, indeed, that’s why your mental attacks have little effect on you," Little Zi giggled, then added, "But who told you that’s all I’m capable of?"
The realization dawned on them that aside from her unpredictable psychic powers, which they feared, Little Zi was also a powerful Mage capable of contending with Sanctuary Mages!
Little Zi pointed to the sky, where her Avatars, always invisible in the sky, had already prepared a Magic spell.
"Space Barrier!"
Thirteen Mages, each surpassing the Sanctuary, cast the Space Barrier simultaneously, naturally to prevent them from leaving the area.
Some were caught within the Space Barrier, but others fled quicker, as they had been preparing to escape from the moment they saw Little Zi, and now they simply put their plans into action.
Little Zi did not pursue them, but instead watched with a smile as several people, including Landers, were trapped inside the Space Barrier.
"To be honest, Mr. Landers, you’ve greatly disappointed us," Little Zi said.
"I am very sorry," Landers shook his head.
"You idiot, Landers! You said the Sword King would surely kill Long Yi! Look at us now, we’re all stuck here for a funeral!" a Mage roared.
"Whether you’re here for a funeral or not is still uncertain; that depends on whether you are still of any use to us," Little Zi said.
"Useful! I am definitely useful!" the Mage, who had just been criticizing Landers, immediately said obsequiously.
Those Mages who were not trapped under the Space Barrier felt like they’d narrowly escaped disaster, but what they hadn’t expected was that the ones blocking their pursuers were not Long Yi or Little Zi, but the Sword Slaves!
The Sword Slaves caught up with an incredible speed, their indestructible blades slashing with terrifying Fighting Aura. When had these Mages ever experienced combat against such enemies? Neither dodging nor defending could save them, and in the blink of an eye, they were completely slaughtered.
At this moment, those Mages trapped inside the Space Barrier no longer envied those who had fled, because this had become the safest place to be.
In the distance, the Stellar Material was being reabsorbed. Those inside the Space Barrier could finally look ahead, but saw that aside from the Sword Ghosts, Sword Stars, and Sword Cores burnt en masse into vapor, most of the Sword Slaves and the Sword King seemed unharmed.
There was Long Yi, walking with Brick and the Bone King.
"The Sword King is smarter than I thought," Long Yi said with a loud laugh.
"Indeed, although I’ve always known that the wisdom of the Sword King far surpasses mine, finding a way to free himself in such a short time is truly impressive," the Bone King said.
"What on earth happened just now?" Landers muttered to himself.
Little Zi heard Landers’s question but did not intend to explain.
It turned out that at the most critical moment just before, Little Zi in the sky suddenly noticed that the formations of the Sword Ghosts, Sword Stars, and Sword Cores below were somewhat strange. Among the densely packed attackers, their arrangement was too orderly. Little Zi immediately shared her vision with Long Yi who recognized it at once; it was a script created by Giants, with just two words: "Contract, save me."
Combining this with the emphasis the Sword King had always placed on his words, Long Yi understood at once. The Sword King did not truly wish to be his enemy, but under the status of the contract, it could not defy Landers’s orders. So, it carefully chose its words, revealing no flaws, while its array spelled out these two words.
Unless from a high altitude, these two words would simply be invisible, and Landers, who was at a distance at the time, could not have possibly noticed. Moreover, even if he did notice, he would not have known that this could be a script.
The moment Xiaodie used the Stellar Material, the vast energy radiation blocked all prying, and Long Yi also used his Creator’s Privilege to forcefully terminate the contract on the Sword King.
As for the identity of the creator, Long Yi had mixed feelings about it indeed.
Then, Long Yi naturally acquired Landers’s memories.
It was a tiny pearl, and inside the pearl was a metal container—Landers’ memories were hidden here.
A gap in the Space Barrier opened, and Long Yi walked through.
"Landers, what should I say? Long time no see?" Long Yi said with a smile.
"I don’t know what step the great Master Elma miscalculated, actually allowing you such a narrow escape." Landers said.
"No, that old San Lefubi from Elma didn’t miscalculate anything, he just didn’t expect to be too strong, that’s all," Long Yi replied.
"You are no match for the great Master Elma, never. You simply got lucky, but it won’t be long before his powerful army completely crushes you!" Landers said with a fanatic expression.
"Look at the expressions of those genuine Ancient Mage Tower players, then look at yourself—even if you told me yourself that you weren’t brainwashed, I wouldn’t believe you," Long Yi laughed, glancing behind Landers at the mages who were so frightened they kept backing away.
"That’s because their faith isn’t strong enough," Landers said, before suddenly casting a spell that hit Long Yi.
"Haha, suffer, Long Yi. Do you still remember the potion I had you drink at the beginning? That was specially prepared for you by Master Elma!"
But Long Yi simply shook his head and said, "I secretly spat that out long ago. However, let’s see what your faith is now!"
As he spoke, Long Yi punched Landers in the stomach. Landers instinctively clutched his midsection, but Long Yi grabbed Landers’ head with one hand. Almost immediately, he noticed something odd about the hair at the back of Landers’ head, and with a hard tug, Long Yi pulled out a metal thread long enough to circle around Landers’ head.
"A psychic interference device?" Little Zi took one glance and immediately spotted the trick.
"I think this thing interfered with your judgment at the beginning," Long Yi said.
Little Zi pouted, placing both hands on Landers’ head. Since she obtained such a powerful body, she hadn’t directly laid hands on someone else’s head to cast a spell in a long time.
The powerful psychic shock caused Landers’ eyes to roll back as he lost consciousness.
After a while, Little Zi let go and said, "No, my judgment wasn’t wrong at the beginning, he didn’t betray us from the start, but after we entered here, the device issued him new orders. Everything he said before that was true. And the orders he gave to the Sword King were also issued after we came in."
Little Zi used a spell to wake up Landers, who was immediately confused: "What happened? I remember I was preparing food..."
"Don’t mind those details; we’ve already obtained your memories. Let’s take a look at them first," Long Yi said, handing the metal container to Landers.
"Okay..." Landers, still a bit groggy, took the container and raised it above his head. The container extended a probe and pierced the top of Landers’ head!
"I bet this thing is definitely not Landers’ own," Long Yi whispered.
"I’m thinking the same as you," said Little Zi. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it on Qidian (qidian.com) with recommendation votes or monthly votes. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
