Chapter 1102: Chapter 855 A Flash of Inspiration

"Do you find it strange that I refused you?" Ai Lin asked with a smile as she casually cast a spell.

Dana didn’t speak but just watched Ai Lin.

"The reason is quite simple. In battle, anything the enemy wants to do is bound to be detrimental to us. Just preventing the enemy from getting their way is enough to demoralize them, hahaha!" Ai Lin even explained.

Dana was immediately amused and angered, realizing the other was just a little girl. Did she think this was child’s play?

"But!" Dana hadn’t spoken when Ai Lin began again, "But seeing as you’re about to be driven to desperation, I’ve decided to be merciful and give you this opportunity."

As she spoke, Ai Lin had already left her own battle group and ascended high into the sky, beckoning to Dana.

Dana was secretly furious, yet the corner of her mouth only revealed a cold smile; she couldn’t give her opponent any chance to see through her.

Dana also rose into the air, while inwardly guarding against Ai Lin’s potential surprise attack. But Ai Lin was just smiling at Dana, with no intention of attacking first.

Below them, the battle between their respective five hundred people had already begun, and on the other side, a thousand monsters and five hundred newly promoted Sanctuary Mages were dealing with another five hundred soldiers from The Divine Auffa Empire. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Although it appeared to be an even match, Dana didn’t believe her forces could hold on much longer, especially since she wasn’t there to command them. She knew she had to defeat the opposing commander quickly to leave the enemy leaderless as well.

With this in mind, Dana decided to stop wasting words. She raised her hand and released a "Blazing Impact."

Blazing Impact was a spell that required a long time to prepare, and it was rarely used as an opening move in mage duels because it not only took a long time to prepare but also to cast, and it could be easily dodged. But Dana’s Blazing Impact was different; she used her intelligence to modify the casting pattern, so it didn’t originate from the ground but appeared at a random location she chose. And once the initial array had locked onto the opponent, the flame would follow its target, ensuring the blast would hit.

Ai Lin had never seen such a spell, and she was immediately locked in by the array; despite how she dodged, there was no escape.

This was the first time Dana successfully used this spell to lock onto an enemy! Once hit, the victim would enter a prolonged state of defenselessness! And Dana had already prepared her following spells!

Boom!

The intense flames erupted from the array, and Ai Lin could only conjure a Mana Shield to defend herself. With this defense, she had no chance to counter-attack.

Dana’s subsequent spells came one after another, and the cornered Ai Lin could only protect herself behind the shield, waiting patiently for her opponent to finish the sequence. Meanwhile, she pondered how Dana had altered Blazing Impact into this form.

True, the level of magic research in this plane was far inferior to the Human Realm, but occasionally, there would be these flashes of brilliance. Ai Lin carefully considered for a moment and silently made a series of calculations in her mind, finally concluding that she simply needed to wait for the bombardment to end.

At that moment, Dana was ecstatic because her research was correct, and more so because she could defeat her opponent in one fell swoop. According to her calculations, Ai Lin had no chance of retaliating after such a bombardment. Dana’s spell sequence lasted for an extremely long time. Assuming Ai Lin was a Sanctuary Mage, the Mana Shield would consume enough Mana to leave her without the energy to strike back!

Yes, in the end, I won!

Dana’s calculated spells gradually reached their limit. Continuous spellcasting caused increasing interference, eventually preventing further casting. A period of rest was needed for the body’s chaotic Mana to settle, and the longer the continuous casting and the more complex the spells, the longer the needed rest.

Dana planned to push Ai Lin into a corner, so she cast all the extreme spell combinations she had worked out long ago. After the last spell, she could no longer cast anything other than a Mana Shield. Of course, she didn’t think it necessary to cast anything else, as she was certain of her victory!

The spells roared continuously, and the power of Dana’s spells waned, but there was no sign of her stopping. She kept casting spell after spell until finally, after six consecutive spell missiles, the cooldown period reached an extreme and forced her to stop.

Then she glanced at Ai Lin again, who was still floating there, hiding behind a magic shield, but with no extra expression on her face.

"Huh? Is it over?" Ai Lin glanced around, as if she had just woken up from a distraction.

"Come on, tell me, how much Mana do you have left?" Dana asked Ai Lin confidently.

"Me? Mana?" Ai Lin chuckled and pulled out two crystal clear fragments of Cosmic Stone from her private space, "I can have as much of this stuff as I want."

Dana felt her head buzz instantly, damn it! How did she have fragments of the Cosmic Stone!

"Looks like you’ve entered a not-so-short cooldown. You’ve really gone all out without leaving any way out for yourself," Ai Lin said as she put the Cosmic Stone fragments back into her private space. Dana noticed that Ai Lin seemed not to have absorbed the Mana from the Cosmic Stone fragments!

"When you were bombarding wildly just now, I took a good look at your Blazing Impact. I found it quite interesting. Although its power has been reduced a lot, its flexibility has been greatly increased. Especially that semi-automatic locking ability, which is absolutely brilliant. I guess no one would have thought that someone would start with Blazing Impact, but I don’t understand why you replaced one of the spell charging formulas. Wouldn’t the original formula be better? You see?"

As she spoke, Ai Lin began to demonstrate the differences between the two. Dana found this strange. What was wrong with the enemy Commander? She knew I was in a long cooldown and yet didn’t take the initiative to attack? Instead, she came here to discuss the matter with me? This is simply nonsense! What was her purpose? She couldn’t be that foolish! No, no, no! No matter what your purpose is, once my cooldown ends, I’ll show you the method I’ve specifically developed to counter the Cosmic Stone!

Dana, without responding to Ai Lin’s words, watched her vigilantly, silently counting down her own cooldown time. Ai Lin also seemed completely oblivious to her opponent, merely talking to herself. Time ticked by, and Dana glanced below; the combination of monsters and five hundred new Sanctuary Mages was pressing down the other side’s five hundred. Her own five hundred mages from the Ancient Mage Tower, however, were being pushed back by the Divine Auffa Empire’s five hundred Sanctuary Mages.

Dana just casually glanced a few times, but she noticed that the opposing side’s casting speed and magic strength far exceeded her subordinates’. There was definitely something amiss!

Dana resolved in her heart that as soon as she was free, she would cast a powerful spell to capture the opponent alive and force them to reveal the secret behind their immense Mana. And once successful, not only would her position as Empress be secure! She might even accumulate the capital to contend with the Ancient Mage Tower!

Yes, no one doesn’t want to be the Overlord above tens of thousands! Dana was no exception! In the Ancient Mage Tower, she was just a Nameless pawn, but here she was the Empress! She wanted to remain the Empress forever! Even the Empress who dominated the entire Plane!

Dana’s ambition was no small matter. She had even developed a series of special spells to satisfy her ambition. But within the hierarchal Ancient Mage Tower, she had never had the chance to realize her ambitions. Now, however, was different. When she heard about Master Elma’s plan, she was one of the few who actively volunteered to come here, seizing the opportunity she had long dreamed of!

And she would not let anyone stand in her way!

Nobody would be allowed!

Ai Lin continued to speak to herself, while Dana was waiting for the opportunity. Gradually, she noticed that the Mana in her body was becoming calm, which meant she would soon be able to cast spells again. Her heartbeat quickened as she mentally rehearsed the spell combinations she had prepared countless times. The moment her Mana completely calmed down, she would use her most proud magic to completely capture her opponent. She would show, through her actions, that she was the true powerhouse!

However, just then, Ai Lin suddenly stopped, stared into Dana’s eyes, and said with a smile, "What’s the matter? Has your Mana finally calmed down?"

Dana was shocked. The cooldown time of Mana was different for everyone; except for oneself, no one else knew. But how did the opponent know?

Dana still maintained a stern face, trying her best not to reveal any flaws. However, Ai Lin chuckled, "Look, although you think there’s no expression on your face, you probably haven’t gone through the kind of training to know this, but most people, when they encounter something that makes them happy or tense, will have some subtle changes in expression. Of course, I didn’t know either, until someone taught me all this, and only then did I realize these subtle changes could be so important in battle."

At that point, Ai Lin’s hands began to brew with Mana, the Mana combination being precisely the improved version of Blazing Impact that Dana had just cast!

"What are you going to do?" Dana finally couldn’t help but ask.

"Nothing much," Ai Lin waved her hand casually as Mana gathered further, "I just want to recast the whole series of spells you just used on me back at you."

No sooner had the words fallen, than an Array unfolded around Dana with no difference from her improved Blazing Impact!(To be continued.
