Chapter 1094: Chapter 847: Strategic Magic

Before the battle had even officially begun, the loss of soldiers had already extinguished the small glimmer of courage that everyone had mustered.

The messenger was acutely aware that this was a critical juncture, and he couldn’t afford to worry about anything else. Mora had been staring at him from behind, running was not an option!

"All of you, follow my command!"

The messenger conveyed his order through magic.

"Mana readings are anomalous!" Just as the messenger had used mana to relay his commands, the Divine Armor warriors received readings of the mana fluctuations. However, the messenger was oblivious to this and continued to address the assembly of Divine Armors.

"Prepare... attack!"

No sooner had the messenger’s command been issued than several Thunderstrike spells struck down above their heads. Suddenly, several layers of mana shields appeared above the messenger’s head, directing the Thunderstrikes away.

The messenger’s eyes bulged as he looked at Mora. The shield was cast by Mora for him! Without Mora, he would have been struck down by the Thunderstrike right then and there.

But now he didn’t have to worry, for the orders had been given, and the battle had begun. The Divine Armor warriors wouldn’t pay him any more attention.

In their intense desperation, the mages of the Ancient Mage Tower exerted all their strength, casting nearly every spell they could muster. The Divine Armor warriors were large targets, and they barely moved. Their task was to throw out every spell they knew in a frenzy, praying that one of them might unexpectedly take effect and bring down a Divine Armor warrior. Even one would suffice, as that would mean these Divine Armor warriors weren’t invincible.

At that moment, under Long Yi’s direction, Divine Armor warriors had formed an array. These Divine Armors also possessed the old version of Divine Armor’s ability, Resonance. The more Divine Armors that stood together, the stronger the Resonance of mana became, enhancing their defensive power and magic intensity. Now, the Divine Armor warriors began acting in groups, strengthening the defense of their rune-armored formation and initiating their counterattack.

Fighting Divine Armor warriors was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. When attacked, the Divine Armor warriors never bother to defend. However, when the Divine Armor warriors start attacking, you can only dodge endlessly. While dodging, your spells just can’t be too strong, and spells that aren’t strong don’t threaten the Divine Armor warriors at all. With less threat to them, the Divine Armor warriors launch an even more fierce attack!

This was a vicious cycle!

The messenger shook his head helplessly. The mages from the Ancient Mage Tower couldn’t be called weak. After all, they wouldn’t have been able to take over a planet easily if they were. But faced with such adversaries, he really had no good solution.

"Don’t get entangled! Spread out!" the messenger ordered. He planned to deplete the Divine Armors’ strength by dragging out the time.

All the mages immediately scattered, casting their spells from a distance. Some mages even positioned themselves further away, using tactical magics to assist their comrades.

Long Yi observed the headcount. There were only three hundred people here.

"Three hundred?" He frowned.

"Stay alert. There are only three hundred people here, and over a hundred are unaccounted for! I’ll search for them!" Long Yi shouted.

In the midst of mage combat, if one side has over a hundred mages missing, it usually only means one thing.

Strategic Magic!

Strategic Magic is an extremely powerful magic able to be cast from great distances, even possessing the ability to determine the outcome of a battle in one strike, and thus being termed Strategic Magic. Ai Lin once released a Strategic Magic spell all on her own, the effect of which even scared her.

And now, could it be that over a hundred Sanctuary mages would cast a Strategic Magic spell together?

Long Yi’s brows knitted slightly. Although he had confidence in the Divine Armors, they weren’t omnipotent! What could that Strategic Magic be?

Long Yi immediately left the battlefield and ascended to the higher parts of the Imperial Palace. Finally, he saw in the distant Imperial Garden a group of people gathering an immensely powerful spell. Because of the great distance, the readings on the Divine Armors didn’t even show up!

"Prepare the Light Cannon! Whatever it is! Shoot it down first!"

The Divine Armor’s Light Cannon immediately began to charge, but at that moment, Long Yi’s Divine Armor displayed an alarmingly high mana reading!

"Here it comes! Everyone, withdraw immediately!" the messenger roared.

"Damn it! Strategic Magic! It’s too late to stop it! All units begin power sprinting, those on the outskirts of the battlefield, withdraw immediately, those in the midst, activate full defense mode! Now!" Long Yi yelled.

All soldiers hurried to find their positions, those who could charged out with all their might, and those who couldn’t immediately sought their teammates. Their rune armor disengaged and floated autonomously around them, forming a rune shield wall. At that moment, a giant energy dome descended from the sky, entirely isolating space, followed by countless Spatial Turbulences crashing around!

"Hahaha! Fell for it, didn’t you?" the messenger shouted from a distance.

However, Long Yi couldn’t hear this roar anymore, because he had also jumped into the radius of the spell at the last moment.

Mana forcefully generated a swath of Spatial Turbulence that battered against the exterior of the rune armor. There, the Divine Armor’s own energy had already generated a first layer of energy shield. This layer could reduce the effect of mana, thereby lessening the damage from Spatial Turbulence, or even causing it to disappear upon collision.

However, this energy shield was not without cost, as it rapidly depleted the Divine Armor’s own energy. When the energy shield failed to completely resist the Spatial Turbulence, the inner rune armor would become the second line of defense. Typically, after passing through the energy shield, Spatial Turbulence would not have enough strength left to tear through the rune armor.

But there are always exceptions, and the biggest problem with Spatial Turbulence is its uncontrollability. Some warriors were not hit by too much Spatial Turbulence, while others endured excessive amounts!

Boom!

Long Yi heard the sound of Rune armor shattering, followed by a scream!

"What happened!" Long Yi hurriedly asked.

"A teammate has been hit!"

"It’s me! It’s me! Damn Spatial Turbulence sliced my leg! The cut is as smooth as a mirror!"

"You, the kid? In times like this, you still have the mood to joke? Stop the bleeding now!" The team leader yelled.

Before he had finished speaking, another scream sounded.

"Who is it this time?" Long Yi asked.

"Damn! It’s still me! This time it’s my belly! Good thing it didn’t go through! Lucky I’ve got a thick layer of fat on my belly!"

"Fatty, you shut your mouth and focus on casting magic to stop the bleeding!" The team leader shouted again.

And then, there was another scream.

"Don’t tell me it’s still you!" The team leader roared again.

"Damn, it really is me again! I’m never talking behind people’s backs again! I’m going home to lose weight, and I’m going to marry that girl who’s been waiting for me for three years right away! Please stop cutting me!"

The soldier began to ramble and pray, and whether it worked or not, he wasn’t cut by Spatial Turbulence anymore, although there were still some screams and cries of pain.

Finally, the strategic Magic disappeared. The area was a mess. All buildings had turned into ruins, and even the ground had been turned over.

"Casualties!" Long Yi shouted loudly.

"Team one has two injured!"

"Team two has three with minor injuries!"

"Team three is fine!"

Each group reported one after another, and the person with the most severe injuries was the fatty whom Long Yi didn’t even know. By then, he had used magic to reattach his leg, but it wasn’t very stable; a slight vibration might cause problems, so he definitely could not continue to fight.

"Since everyone is alive, it’s our turn for revenge now! All units, immediately enter energy recovery mode! The enemy will surely come to check our status. We’ll wait for them right here! All soldiers who were not involved in the strategic Magic, fall back!" Long Yi commanded.

The so-called energy recovery mode is a state where all systems inside the Divine Armor are shut down to allow the energy core to recover energy as quickly as possible. The energy core of the Divine Armor derives from Giant technology, and the recovery speed is very fast. If one is merely moving, it’s possible to recover while in motion, meaning there is virtually no consumption. Only during intense battles is there energy consumption, and the recovery speed is slow. However, if one enters full-speed recovery mode, the recovery speed increases by more than three times.

Just as Long Yi expected, when the strategic Magic ended, the emissary quietly brought people to surround them. By then, many things within the range of the strategic Magic had turned into dust, including trees and buildings. And the Divine Armor, which had been majestic and mighty just moments ago, now looked pitiful. The Rune armor on the surface of many Divine Armors had been stripped off or even shattered, and metal fragments littered the ground. Most of the Divine Armors were covered in battle scars, with several having their huge one-eyed heads severed and fallen on the ground.

At that moment, a buzzing sound continuously came from the bodies of the Divine Armors, and the emissary did not know what was going on. He only knew that these Divine Armors were motionless!

Did they win?

The emissary asked himself in his heart, thinking they must have won, right? This was Spatial Turbulence, which is quite well-known among all strategic Magics. Although the coverage is not broad, its lethality is definitely ranked at the top!

"You two, go check it out!" the emissary said to two people beside him.

The two hesitated for a moment, glancing at the Divine Armors in the distance that were completely still. Eventually, they suppressed their nervousness and walked towards them step by step.

Walking among these massive pieces of metal, it was impossible not to feel nervous. But soon, they discovered something that calmed them.

Bloodstains.

One Divine Armor was half-kneeling on the ground, its chest cavity sliced open by Spatial Turbulence, revealing blood dripping through the cracks. The buzzing sound kept coming from inside the Divine Armor, but it was unclear from where.

The two approached and peered through the cracks to see a fatty inside the cockpit with his eyes closed, covered in blood, motionless.

"Dead?" one person asked the other.

"Probably dead," the other replied.(To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommendation votes, and your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to continue reading.)
