Chapter 1006: Chapter 762: Mentor Yavenny
Without saying a word, Long Yi had guessed every thought in Balak’s mind, to Balak’s great surprise. He hadn’t felt any trace of psychic spells, and Long Yi’s little female demon wasn’t even beside him. Could it really be that he deduced it all just from his expressions?
"You’re very smart, Long Yi. You’re really very smart. No wonder Master Solis placed special emphasis on inviting you to join the Ancient Mage Tower. You are strong, but unfortunately, this is the Ancient Mage Tower, not your filthy and lowly lower plane. Your strength is nothing here! Anyone here can easily defeat you! So now, you’d better obediently step back, or you will soon suffer the consequences!" Balak roared furiously.
"Why get so angry, Instructor Balak? For such lowly surface bloodlines, couldn’t just anyone teach him a lesson?" a young man said frivolously.
Immediately, three young men stepped forward with malicious smiles on their faces; their mana surged, already several times greater than Nielan’s!
Were the fellows in the Ancient Mage Tower actually this strong?
However, only by personally taking action would he truly know the extent of their strength.
Long Yi bared his teeth, motioning with his fingers for the three to come at him together.
Just then, a pleasant female voice suddenly broke the tension.
"Stop!"
Following that command, a sultry figure approached rapidly from afar. The crisp sound of her heels echoed, and a pair of slender ears fluttered up and down with her steps.
"Instructor Yavenny?" Long Yi and Balak exclaimed in surprise at the same time.
Balak’s eyes bulged out in an instant, staring at Long Yi as if he had seen a ghost.
The newcomer was none other than Yavenny!
But what was she doing here?
"What did you just call her?" Balak asked, somewhat stuttering.
"Instructor Yavenny..." Long Yi repeated, puzzled.
At that moment, Yavenny pulled Long Yi’s head into her embrace, "There you are! The instructor has been so lonely without you all this time."
Instantly suffocating, Long Yi struggled desperately, but was unable to break free.
Meanwhile, Balak was also sweating profusely, looking at Yavenny with a sycophantic smile, "Um, Instructor Yavenny, I heard you went to tour the planes. When did you get back?"
Yavenny, still gripping the struggling Long Yi, glared fiercely at Balak, "It doesn’t matter when I returned. But I happened to see you bullying my student, didn’t I?"
Balak immediately sported a smile uglier than crying, "How could that be! I didn’t know he was your student, Instructor Yavenny! If I had known he was your student, I wouldn’t have dared to harbor any ill intentions toward him, even if it killed me!"
Balak was nearly scared out of his wits. The Ancient Mage Tower had existed in this plane for thousands of years, and this Elven lady named Yavenny had served as an instructor here for several millennia, several times older than Balak himself! Yavenny did not often appear in the tower, and when she did, it was always a brief visit. She seldom taught any students.
However, even so, over these thousands of years, any student Yavenny taught became an incredibly powerful Mage, with two even becoming masters of the Ancient Mage Tower!
Of course, that was a long time ago.
Balak, born and raised in the Ancient Mage Tower, of course had heard about Instructor Yavenny. The unwritten rule regarding Yavenny was to always face her with the utmost respect.
"Really no bullying?" Yavenny pressed on.
"No! Absolutely not!" Balak shook his head vigorously.
That’s good to hear.
Yavenny removed Long Yi’s head from her chest, and he couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
Just moments ago, he had felt on the verge of blacking out!
The surrounding youngsters crowded closer, their eyes filled with anticipation. To them, even the slightest guidance from Yavenny would be enough to shoot them to great heights.
But Yavenny paid them no attention.
"Let’s go!"
Yavenny dragged Long Yi away to his place of residence, a small room specially allocated for him. Though not large, it was fully equipped.
"Since when have you been here as an instructor?" Long Yi asked in confusion.
"Ten days ago," Yavenny replied.
"You scared so many people just after ten days?" Long Yi was astonished.
"I crafted some earth-shattering stories about myself using a bit of innate charm and hypnosis," Yavenny said with a smile.
"So it really is the Yavenny I remember," Long Yi laughed.
"Eh? Does that mean you’ve been thinking about your tutor all this time?" Yavenny suddenly giggled, then wrapped her arm around Long Yi’s neck.
"Yeah, I’ve always missed you, Tutor!" Long Yi also wrapped his arm directly around Yavenny’s slender waist.
"Hmm? Something’s off!" Yavenny pushed Long Yi away in an instant and took a closer look, "You’re no longer a virgin? That’s so boring..."
"Hey, don’t tell me you flirted with me back then just because I was a virgin?" Long Yi said discontentedly.
"Of course that’s why!" Yavenny said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Come on! I’m not anymore! I guarantee I’m experienced now, let’s continue!" Saying so, Long Yi actually pounced on her himself.
"No way!" Yavenny lifted her leg and kicked Long Yi in the chest, and despite appearing much weaker than Long Yi, her strength was amazing. No matter how hard Long Yi tried, he couldn’t advance an inch.
"Fine, if you won’t, you won’t. What’s up this time?" Long Yi said with a pout.
"Nothing much, I just missed you and came to hang out with you," Yavenny said, rolling her eyes at Long Yi.
"You don’t wanna hang out yet you say you came to hang out," Long Yi retorted, pouting.
"Don’t sweat the small stuff... Okay, okay, I give up, I admit I came to you because I need something," Yavenny said helplessly.
"What happened?" Long Yi asked proudly, as if he had won a great victory.
"Over the past few centuries, a mysterious organization called the God Chasers has emerged across the entire multiverse. They claim to be people who follow the footsteps of the gods and can hear the divine will. This bizarre organization operates in every corner of the multiverse, developing some technologies that defy the gods. I suspect that some of them have infiltrated this Ancient Mage Tower, so I came specifically to find you, hoping you could help me investigate,"
Yavenny made her request.
"The God Chasers—I remember the gods are already dead, they were swallowed by the Crystal Poison they created," Long Yi said.
"You already know about this?" It was Yavenny’s turn to be surprised.
"Yeah, I even have a Divine Envoy sister here with me!" Long Yi said.
"Oh! Then no wonder, a Divine Envoy is certainly reliable. Because the gods are dead, any claims by these God Chasers that they can listen to the divine will must obviously be nonsense. What I find odd is their purpose," Yavenny said softly.
"As the boss of the demon realm, you sure have a broad range of concerns, meddling with any mysterious organization that pops up," Long Yi said with a laugh.
"This is not just any mysterious organization that popped up; some of their members have infiltrated the demon realm and were captured by my subordinates. Only by using some very special interrogation techniques did we obtain this information. And, there’s one more thing that you might not believe if I tell you," Yavenny said with an air of mystery.
"What?"
"The God Chasers believe that the Giants betrayed the gods, so they want to eliminate the Giants on behalf of the gods."
"Have these idiots gone mad?" Long Yi burst into laughter. Even though he was a Giant himself, he didn’t feel anything special, but as far as the feedback from the entire multiverse was concerned, everything about the Giants was praised by every race. Apart from the humans of the Human Realm, what race would think badly of Giants? And Giants betraying the gods? Where did that conclusion come from?
"I don’t know if they’re mad, but it’s best if you don’t expose yourself. Ah, right, I can’t stay here too long, I should leave soon. So I hope you don’t go against Master Balak too much, after all, you’ll still be under his supervision for a while longer. Also, I suspect that Master Solis of the Ancient Mage Tower is a member of the God Chasers. If possible, help me investigate him. Alright, I’m off then, take care,"
Yavenny said a lot all at once and then disappeared into thin air.
"You didn’t even ask if I agreed!" Long Yi said blankly, staring at the air.
"It’s okay, you’ll definitely agree!" Yavenny suddenly popped her head out of nowhere and said with a giggle.
"That’s true," Long Yi also laughed.
Long Yi returned to his living quarters, only to find Balak looking at him with an unpleasant expression.
"Taking so long for just a bathroom break?"
A bathroom break? Mr. Long Yi was taken aback, but then he quickly understood that Yavenny’s hypnosis must have worn off.
"Sorry, had a bit of diarrhea," Long Yi said reluctantly, making up an excuse.
"With your big and tall stature, yet so fragile? Seems like you need a lot more training!" Master Balak said.
At this moment, several young people began to laugh: "Can’t help it, as a groundling without any noble bloodline, just arriving at this pure Ancient Mage Tower must be a bit overwhelming, right?"
Long Yi glanced at the young people, those were the very ones he had wanted to beat up earlier. But now was different from before; since he had agreed to Yavenny to look into the issue of the God Chasers, he had to put up with these random yaps for the time being.
So Long Yi just smiled and said nothing more. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for recommendations and monthly tickets at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
