Chapter 535: Chapter 534: The Devil
Crack!
A sharp sound echoed across the arena as Serosa stepped on Keith, breaking the bone in his leg.
"Arghhhbdhdsh!"
A gut-wrenching scream filled the air as some people closed their eyes.
This was too much.
But Serosa wasn’t satisfied.
He pinned Keith down.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
His anger, his rage, and his wounded pride over the fact that Keith had actually managed to injure him consumed him as he beat Keith to death.
He didn’t stop until after a full minute.
At this moment, there was no longer a "Keith."
There was only a mangled mass of torn flesh and blood as Serosa finally stood up.
The crowd fell silent as Serosa walked toward his axe.
Everyone’s heart skipped a beat.
This was simply too brutal.
They couldn’t bear to watch anymore as most of them looked away, taking deep, shaky breaths.
But just as Serosa was about to pick up his axe, he heard the crowd cheer.
He lost it.
Anger exploded within him as he clenched his fists and turned around.
The instant he did, his body froze.
His eyes widened.
For a moment...
Fear gripped his heart.
Keith was standing.
He was covered in his own blood, but his neck was snapped, and his head hung limply, swaying back and forth like a broken doll.
His legs shouldn’t even have been able to support his weight.
They looked like mashed potatoes.
His abdomen and torso had been smashed beyond recognition, nothing more than mangled flesh.
Yet despite all this...
Keith was still standing.
Impossible...
Then Serosa felt anger replace that fear.
How could he feel afraid of this thing?
He looked at Keith again.
But this time...
An even greater fear overtook him.
Not just him.
The crowd felt it too.
The arena master slowly stood up.
The man behind him did the same.
"Is he..."
The arena master didn’t finish his sentence, but the man behind him already understood.
Even he was shocked.
Down in the arena...
Everyone watched as Keith’s flesh and bones squirmed like living worms.
Slowly...
His body regenerated piece by piece until he was completely healed.
From head to toe, he was covered in his own blood.
But the most terrifying part...
Was that smile.
It made everyone deeply uncomfortable.
Finally, someone in the crowd blurted out,
"Devil..."
Keith moved unsteadily, swaying from left to right.
But with every step, his speed increased.
His back was hunched, and his arms flailed wildly as he moved.
"Damn it! Whatever you are..."
"I’ll kill you!"
Serosa roared as he threw a punch the moment Keith got close.
Bang!
The impact echoed throughout the arena as Keith’s body bent backward so far that his forehead nearly touched the sand.
Then he slowly pulled himself back up and looked at Serosa with that same smile.
Serosa felt goosebumps spread across his body as he instinctively took a step back.
Realizing what he had done, he gritted his teeth and punched again.
Bang!
He hit Keith.
But...
Keith didn’t go down.
He simply stood back up with that same smile.
There wasn’t a single injury on him anymore.
Only blood covered his body.
Serosa retreated several steps as his body turned cold.
But that wasn’t all.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Dull impacts echoed across the silent arena.
Every hit landed cleanly.
Yet Keith just kept coming back.
Again...
And again...
And again...
He simply stood back up.
At one point, Serosa missed an attack.
Not because he aimed poorly...
But because Keith actually dodged.
Serosa’s expression changed as fear gripped him.
Sweat poured down his face.
But it wasn’t a mistake.
Another attack was dodged.
Then another.
Then finally...
Bam!
Keith actually punched Serosa.
Serosa froze.
The crowd froze.
Even through the leather armor, Serosa felt the punch.
It wasn’t powerful.
Yet his face was filled with horror.
Keith slowly raised his right arm, which had just been broken by the previous attack.
Everyone watched as the arm wriggled...
Then completely healed.
The smile on Keith’s face grew even wider.
Bang!
Serosa punched Keith in the face.
This time...
Keith didn’t even move.
Then...
Keith stepped back and disappeared for a split second.
Serosa felt an overwhelming sense of danger and sidestepped.
But Keith was too fast.
Scratch!
The leather armor blocked the knife strike.
Even so, Serosa felt as though his heart had leaped out of his chest.
But this was only the beginning.
Keith’s attacks continued relentlessly as Serosa desperately defended.
Or rather...
Tried to survive.
Most of the attacks were blocked by his armor.
He couldn’t even read Keith’s movements, let alone dodge them.
Then—
Stab!
The knife pierced into his arm.
Serosa’s eyes widened as intense pain shot through him.
Keith slowly turned his head, that grin still plastered across his face.
Serosa struck Keith, sending him flying away as the knife was pulled free.
Clutching his bleeding arm, Serosa tried to stop the blood.
But it was too late.
Another overwhelming sense of danger.
Slash!
Another burst of pain.
Blood flowed once more.
This time, Serosa knew he was going to die.
He wasn’t fighting a human.
He was fighting a devil.
Then he saw his axe still embedded in the ground.
"Maybe you can survive being beaten into a pulp..."
"But can you survive being beheaded?"
Serosa thought as he moved.
But Keith just kept attacking.
Soon, Serosa was covered in blood as well.
His face was slashed, and his leather armor was already torn apart as he retreated.
He kept backing away.
Then, seeing that his axe was only a few meters away...
He grabbed Keith by the leg and slammed him into the ground.
Boom!
Then he rushed toward his axe as a smile formed on his face.
Once he got his axe...
Everything would be over.
He would behead Keith.
He would kill this devil.
His hand grasped the handle of the axe as joy filled Serosa’s face.
Time seemed to stop.
Then—
Splurttttt!!!
Blood sprayed like a fountain, splashing across Serosa’s face as he frowned.
His wrist had been severed.
Keith stood there, still grinning as he licked the blunt knife.
"You..."
Slash!
Stab!
Slash!
Stab!
Four attacks landed as Serosa’s massive body fell backward and crashed onto the ground.
Serosa’s expression froze as he tried to move, only to realize he had lost all feeling in his limbs.
At this moment...
Only his head could move.
The rest of his body was completely useless.
He watched in horror as Keith walked over to his axe and pulled it from the ground.
Then Keith slowly turned and walked toward him.
"No... no... no..."
Serosa muttered in fear as Keith reached him and stood over his chest, raising the axe high into the air.
"Please... no..."
"Mer...cy..."
"Kid... don’t..."
Bam!
The axe slammed into the ground as Serosa’s head split into two, killing him instantly.
Standing over the corpse, Keith slowly opened his mouth and spoke.
"The... Witch’s... Son..."
"I... am the... Devil."
The crowd erupted into deafening cheers as their blood boiled with excitement.
"Devil!"
"Devil!"
"Devil!"
They continued chanting as, high above the arena, the Arena Master smiled.
"Devil, is it...?" he muttered.
"Such a fitting name."
"But can you live up to it?" he asked.
"Not bad, kid. Not bad at all."
"You made one hundred thousand taels in profit in your very first match and even earned yourself a stage name."
The Arena Master laughed as he looked at the greatly increased balance.
"Jeso, take this kid and grant him Fifth-Level Privilege," the Arena Master said with a smile.
Standing behind him, Jeso smiled.
"Yes, Arena Master."
