Chapter 488: Chapter 487: Invitation
Inside Void’s castle, Ire and Void took their seats as Void waved his hand, causing various delicacies to appear before them.
Fire burned softly as the entire room was illuminated by expensive and exquisite chandeliers. A dark-styled dining room was formed in an instant.
"So, about this Realm, tell me more," Void began as he grabbed a piece of cooked meat and started eating.
As for Ire, she took another piece. The two barely used any cutlery as the meat was automatically sliced into the required sizes and floated toward their mouths while they ate leisurely.
"I discovered this Realm five million years ago. It was after a brief battle between the Demon Race and a subpar race. They were similar to the Angel Race and possessed light-based abilities, but physical attacks didn’t work well against them. In the end, the two high-end powerhouses had to step in and finish the war," Ire began.
Void listened with curiosity.
After all, among Rank 4 Demons, Void was nothing more than a small child. They had lived for millions, sometimes even billions, of years. The things they had experienced were beyond anything Void, a newly advanced Rank 4 Demon, could imagine.
He was only just beginning.
His path was still far from over.
"After that battle, I discovered this Realm on my way back. After a brief investigation, it seemed like a worthwhile target to conquer, so I spent several years observing it and building my own organization. By now, that organization is already deeply rooted within the Realm," Ire explained.
Void nodded.
"That is good," Void replied as he took a sip of red wine.
A grin appeared on his face as he continued.
"So, by helping you, what exactly do I gain?" Void asked.
Ire paused before smiling.
"We will divide the Realm. Ninety to ten if all you do is mate with me."
"But if you help me conquer the Realm, then seventy to thirty. Depending on how much you contribute, your share might even increase," Ire said.
Void paused.
Ire narrowed her eyes as she observed him, waiting for his response.
Finally, Void spoke.
"Are any other demons involved?" he asked.
Ire shook her head.
"No. Only us."
Void grinned.
Ire’s frown deepened slightly.
She felt something was coming.
"A Rank 4 Demon attacking a Realm is possible. Normally, that demon would want to keep the Realm for itself. After all, Realms are treasure troves."
"However, when a Rank 4 Demon seeks allies, it is usually not because of profit, but because of danger," Void said slowly as he observed Ire, who was still smiling.
"But if we mate, you will have blood resonance with the child. Even if I try to hide my plans, you will eventually discover them. So wouldn’t it be better to draw you into the operation from the beginning?" Ire replied.
Void’s grin widened slightly.
"True."
"But out of all the Rank 4 Demons, why did you choose me?"
"We all possess Primordial Demon bloodlines. Our combat capabilities are relatively similar. The only real differences are our mastery and fighting styles."
"So why me?" Void paused before continuing.
"Would you say it was pure randomness, and I just happened to be lucky enough to be chosen by you?"
"Or did you see something special in me, meaning you’ve been monitoring me since I was born?"
Void finished his question.
Hearing this, Ire’s eyes brightened.
"That could be true," Ire replied with a giggle.
Void chuckled.
"Another possibility is that one of the reasons you chose me is because I am the newest Rank 4 Demon in millions of years."
"You looked at me as young and inexperienced."
"After all, even if i had spent a long time at Rank 3, Rank 2, or even Rank 1, it still cannot compare to your experience."
"You also bet on the fact that even if I suspected something was wrong, I would choose allies over enemies because I just broke through."
"So even if I noticed something suspicious, I would most likely accept the offer anyway."
"Am I correct?" Void asked.
For the first time, Ire’s expression changed.
Her playful smile disappeared, and her face returned to calmness.
Void was rather pleased.
Those Rank 4 Demons who had visited him previously had provided him with valuable information.
Without that knowledge, even if he sensed something was wrong, he wouldn’t have known how to approach the situation.
"Alright. You are much bolder than I expected," Ire said as she stood up.
Her aura filled the room.
Void suddenly felt as though he had been trapped inside a cage.
The light dimmed.
For a brief moment, it seemed as if all light had been frozen.
Then everything returned to normal.
By that time, Ire was already standing directly in front of Void, only a few inches away.
The dining table had vanished.
So had the delicacies.
A soft sound echoed through the room as a faint pink hue spread throughout the surroundings.
Void’s eyes narrowed.
Ire reached out and gently touched his cheek.
The instant her fingers made contact, Void felt an overwhelming loss of control.
His heart began pounding violently.
His body trembled.
Blood rushed throughout his entire body.
For a brief moment, his reasoning became clouded.
To Void, it felt like only a split second had passed.
Yet when he regained clarity, Ire was already partially undressed, while he had unconsciously shifted into his human form.
The distance between them had nearly disappeared.
They were only a moment away from crossing the final line.
"That was a nice trick," Void suddenly said.
Ire’s eyes widened.
She stood up, but it was already too late.
Void had already left the castle.
"Come out. I don’t want us to destroy my multiverse," Void’s voice echoed from outside.
Ire gritted her teeth.
A trace of annoyance appeared on her face as a glamorous battle suit materialized around her body.
She moved.
In an instant, she was outside the multiverse, standing directly in front of Void.
"You can either leave now, and we can forget all of this as a mere misunderstanding..."
"Or you can stay, and I will show you how valuable I am. Then we can divide that Realm and whatever interests you most...fifty-fifty," Void said.
After all, he felt there was something hidden beneath her desire to involve him.
The share she had offered, increasing from ten percent to thirty percent, seemed suspicious.
Of course, there was the fact that she was stronger than him, so it appeared reasonable on the surface.
But perhaps it was too reasonable.
If Void judged correctly, she was already at the High Level of Rank 4, while he was only at the Quasi-Middle Level.
The gap between them was enormous.
It seemed she had another plan.
Perhaps she intended to use Void as bait against something within that Realm while she reaped the true rewards.
One could never be too careful around demons.
Ire remained silent for a while.
Then a long scythe appeared in her hand as she finally spoke.
"I want to see what gives you the qualification to take half of my spoils."
Ire’s voice was calm, but her eyes were sharp.
Void grinned as he summon nameless as the two Rank 4 demons faced off against each other.
