Chapter 75: A Strange Entity
In a dim underground room lit only by the faint glow of candles, Rios suddenly woke up and opened his eyes. A satisfied smile spread across his face.
"Hahaha, this trip was definitely worth it. It exceeded every single one of my expectations." Rios rubbed his jaw and laughed smugly.
But while he was laughing, something was happening deep within his soul.
Deep... deep within his soul.
Something even he couldn’t perceive... couldn’t sense... didn’t even know existed.
Far beyond the deepest reaches of his soul was a white sphere wrapped in countless chains, sealing something inside it. Around it floated numerous strange runes that were almost completely colorless.
At that moment, a pair of closed eyes slowly appeared within the white sphere.
The eyes quietly opened, revealing empty pupils that looked at everything around them with complete indifference, as though the entire world meant absolutely nothing to them.
After a few moments, however, the eyes finally regained their focus. They turned violet, and A sharp killing intent flared within them, enough to kill several people through its mere presence, as though this spiritual world itself was their greatest enemy.
Yet for some unknown reason, that killing intent couldn’t leave the white sphere.
"So you’re laughing... huh? Go ahead and laugh while you can. It won’t be long before I reclaim this body... and then we’ll see how well you laugh, you damned human."
The eyes narrowed, and an enraged voice echoed from within them.
But for that same strange reason, the voice couldn’t leave the white sphere either.
"Tsk!"
A click of annoyance echoed from within the sphere.
Yet, for some reason, they slowly began to close once again.
They actually seemed... sleepy.
"Hahaha... It’s... useless to... resist... Your end... is drawing near... And if you think... you can... devour me... then you’re nothing but... a delusional fool..."
The voice gradually broke apart as overwhelming drowsiness overtook it.
In the end, the eyes closed completely once more.
---
In the real world...
"System, open my status panel."
The moment Rios gave the command, the status panel appeared before him.
Ignoring everything else on it, he immediately selected the Store icon.
As soon as he focused on it, a purple screen filled with countless stars appeared before him. There was only a single entry on it...
Ozir.
Rios focused on it, and the screen instantly changed into a new section containing three options.
The first was Private Palace, the second belonged to the Red Lotus Palace, and the last belonged to the Green Branch Palace.
Rios opened the Red Lotus Palace.
What appeared before him resembled an electronic marketplace., and at the very top was a large notice:
30% Discount on All Products
Rios browsed through the merchandise and searched for something.
Fortunately, he found it almost immediately and bought it without hesitation.
---
Paid: 700 Prime
Remaining Prime: 52,000 Prime
---
After completing the transaction, Rios stood up, stretched lazily, his joints crackling one after another.
"I didn’t think this seclusion would end so quickly."
He rubbed his chin for a moment before walking toward the door.
---
Inside the administration room of the royal palace in the City of Light...
Elena and Thandria each sat behind a wooden desk, surrounded by numerous staff members.
Every single one of them had hundreds of documents piled in front of them.
"Our biggest problems right now are the severe shortage of food supplies, as well as the shortage of liquid energy reserves that power the city’s protective arrays." Thandria spoke with a gloomy expression. "On top of that, we’re critically lacking manpower, soldiers, and people of high levels."
"At this rate, it’ll take us at least a few centuries to return to our former state."
Bang!
Thandria slammed the desk in frustration.
But at that moment...
"Who said we’d need a few centuries to recover?"
Rios walked into the administration room with confident steps, his hands clasped behind his back.
"With me here, those centuries will shrink into just a few years. What was impossible before... will become possible with me."
"Greetings, Your Majesty!"
The moment they saw Rios enter, all the staff members immediately stood up and bowed.
"Thank you all for your hard work." Rios nodded with a smile. "You may all leave now. The rest of the day is yours. Take the day off."
"A holiday?!"
Elena was stunned by the declaration.
The moment she realized what Rios meant, she immediately jumped to her feet, pointed at the thousands of documents, and shouted,
"Wait! If they all leave now while the day’s barely begun, then who’s going to finish all these documents?!"
Faced with his panicked wife shouting at him, Rios casually stuck his little finger into his ear and scratched it while saying mockingly,
"There’s no need to shout. I’m standing right next to you, not miles away. You can say whatever you want in a normal voice, and I’ll hear you just fine."
Then he looked directly at her and added provocatively,
"Besides, this is the king’s order. Do you dare disobey your king, Your Majesty the Queen?"
"Rios... I mean, Your Majesty... please, this isn’t something to joke about. The lives of thousands of people depend on these documents."
"Alright, alright. I’m not joking. No need to panic. Everything will be fine."
Rios calmed Elena down before turning toward the remaining staff.
"Please leave the three of us alone for a while."
"As you command, Your Majesty."
The staff immediately bowed and left the administration room.
Only Rios, Elena, and Thandria remained.
Rios walked forward and sat directly on top of Elena’s desk...
Right on top of the hundreds of documents.
At that moment, Elena wanted to scream at the top of her lungs.
But then she noticed Rios doing something strange.
He waved his hand through the air.
A rectangular green box suddenly appeared out of thin air.
Rios lowered his hand and placed the small box on the desk.
Both Elena and Thandria looked at the box curiously.
Then Thandria pointed at it, looked at Rios, and asked,
"What’s that?"
"Why don’t you open it and see for yourself?"
