Chapter 72: The Mutated Bloodline

"Hahaha, young sir, you must be joking. That’s absolutely impossible."

Empress Flora laughed and shook her head regretfully.

"Young sir, perhaps you don’t know this, but once beast blood is already flowing through our veins, we can no longer fuse another beast’s blood into our bodies."

"Why?"

Rios raised an eyebrow.

"To be honest, I don’t know the exact reason."

She shook her head slightly.

"All I know is that the human body cannot fuse with more than one type of beast Blood. Otherwise, those bloodlines will clash with one another, ultimately causing the body to explode."

A trace of sadness crept into her voice.

"Then why don’t you simply find a stronger Nectar beast and strengthen your existing bloodline with its blood?"

"I wish that were possible, young sir."

Flora smiled bitterly.

"But the White Nectar beast is the native beast of our home planet. It doesn’t exist anywhere else."

"The beast from which my ancestors obtained their bloodline was already the strongest of its race, and to this day, no stronger White Nectar beast has ever appeared."

She sighed sympathetically before suddenly looking at Rios, hope flickering in her emerald eyes.

"But our problem isn’t completely hopeless, young sir."

"Oh?"

Rios immediately noticed the change in both her tone and expression.

"Please enlighten me."

"It’s true that almost everyone who encounters this problem eventually gives up searching for a solution."

Flora smiled.

"But the heavens never create a problem without also leaving behind a solution."

The longer she looked at Rios, the brighter the hope in her eyes became.

"The beast’s cultivation Level doesn’t matter."

"It won’t improve or evolve the bloodline."

"Even if we were somehow able to obtain the blood of a Level 10 beast, it would merely cause our bodies to explode even faster."

"What truly matters..."

"...is the grade of the bloodline."

"And more specifically..."

"...it must be a mutated bloodline."

"If we obtain a mutated bloodline that’s one grade higher than our original one, the mutated bloodline will devour the original bloodline and replace it completely."

"Once that happens..."

"...all the restrictions limiting our future cultivation disappear."

"I see."

Rios leaned comfortably against his chair.

"Then why not search for a Heaven-grade mutated bloodline, since your own bloodline is only Legendary-grade?"

Flora smiled self-deprecatingly.

"That’s almost impossible for a humble empire like ours."

"How many beings in the entire universe possess a Heaven-grade bloodline?"

"Perhaps half a million... maybe a little more."

"Among those, how many are beasts we know or have any connection with?"

"Very few."

"And among those few..."

"...how many possess a mutated bloodline?"

"...None."

She shook her head with a bitter smile.

"It’s practically impossible."

"Even purchasing one is almost out of the question."

"Beasts of that caliber would never allow anyone to take their blood out of pride."

"Even the major organizations that possess such beasts guard them as priceless treasures. They would never sell their blood."

"And even if someone somehow did..."

"...it would be auctioned off for astronomical prices."

"Depending on the bloodline, law, and beast itself..."

"...it could easily reach billions of Prime."

"Are there really no other solutions besides obtaining the bloodline of a beast with a higher-grade lineage?"

Rios asked thoughtfully.

This question was extremely important to him.

The Elf bloodline within the City of Light originated from the Immortal Tree of Cradle, which had only been Level 4.

Does that mean every Elf will eventually be trapped at Wis Level 4?

"There is one other solution."

Flora raised a single finger.

Yet her expression was completely devoid of hope.

"If our own bloodline were to mutate..."

"...then all of its restrictions would disappear."

She slowly shook her head.

"But that possibility is even more impossible."

"Unless you discover an extraordinary treasure or enter a region with an extremely high Law density capable of triggering such a mutation..."

"...every attempt is meaningless."

As she finished speaking, the hopelessness on her face gradually transformed into hopeful anticipation as she looked directly at Rios.

"It’s something that depends entirely on luck."

"A simple person like me can only pray..."

"...and hope that fortune smiles upon me one day."

Hmm...

Rios narrowed his eyes.

He completely ignored Flora’s obvious pretense.

Instead, another question surfaced in his mind—a question he’d wanted to ask for a long time but had never found either the right person or the right opportunity.

It seemed both had finally appeared.

"What exactly is a mutated bloodline?"

"And why is it so extraordinary that it can completely remove the limitations placed upon the original bloodline?"

As someone who possessed not just one but two Immortal-grade mutated bloodlines—Abyss and Life—this question mattered greatly to him.

Flora smiled warmly after hearing his question.

Her face filled with both reverence and longing.

"A mutated bloodline, young sir, is surrounded by countless mysteries."

"Anyone who claims to understand all of them is simply lying."

"But among those mysteries..."

"...one is that it completely removes the limits imposed upon both one’s cultivation Level and original bloodline."

"It also allows you to draw out your original bloodline’s full potential."

"To such an extent..."

"...that you can fight someone whose bloodline is an entire grade higher than yours."

"Furthermore..."

"...it evolves the Law tied to your original bloodline."

"It may fuse it with another Law to create an entirely new one..."

"...or it may grant you a completely new Law altogether."

"In that case..."

"...you become someone who possesses two Laws."

Rios was genuinely surprised.

He rested his chin in his hand and slowly rubbed it while leaning forward, silently contemplating himself and his mutated bloodlines.

Several minutes later, he finally looked back at Flora and smiled.

"So..."

"...what is it that you want from me?"

"And why do you assume I want something from you, young sir?"

Flora laughed softly, leaning back in her chair as she looked at him with amused curiosity.

"You’re the one who came to us."

"That means you’re the one who wants something—not me."

"Oh?"

Rios smiled.

"Please don’t tell me you explained all of this, answered every one of my questions..."

"...only to tell me you don’t want anything in return."
