Chapter 103: Come to My Bed
Cassane, Morgana, and Cassian moved away from the crowd.
He led the two women to his room.
Cassane and Morgana looked at each other before entering, unsure of what the other was thinking.
Adela had already tidied everything up and was currently sweeping the floor of the dining room.
She raised her eyes in surprise at seeing her master return so soon and with those women.
Cassian gave her a signal and she immediately went to prepare something to drink for the "guests".
The three sat down, although the two women took the opportunity to scan the room with their gaze; although they had been there before, the female instinct was terrifying, as if they knew that something had happened before they arrived, something that didn’t sit well with them at all.
"Well?" Cassane asked sharply.
Cassian raised an eyebrow, amused.
"Well what? I’m inviting you to have something first," he pointed to the cup he had served himself, as if wanting them to try it first.
Cassane rolled her eyes, seeing that he was still the same evasive and petty man.
She took a sip of the drink.
Morgana was strangely quiet, staring attentively at something Adela seemed to have forgotten.
"Looks like someone is certainly having fun," she said dryly, in a tone that was unusual to hear from her.
Cassian was surprised by this, but didn’t give it much importance.
"I’m not going to tell you to break the engagement."
"Not that I could if we’re talking about political power; if Alexandro agreed, I have no other choice."
"But it seems both of you want this engagement to be more ’close.’ As you mentioned, Morgana, I have fun. I like to have a lot of fun."
"I won’t be faithful to either of you and, in fact, I can tell you right now that I don’t like either of you very much; but I suppose that, considering that some time ago I would have told Cassane that I don’t like her at all, it’s progress."
"We don’t know each other. Especially you, ice cube; I feel like you’re just trying something new that gave you a different taste than what you’re used to and now you have a whim for me."
"And you, Morgana, if your taste for power is what attracts you to me, then you’re in the wrong place."
"Now, you are always welcome if you want to spend some time in my bed," he finished this last part with a completely shameless smile, provoking them, seeking to break their determination to continue with this meaningless title.
The two women were stunned.
Cassane was the one who reacted the strongest; she stood up directly and left the place without looking back.
Morgana seemed hesitant, as if she were analyzing the pros and cons.
After a while playing with her hands on the table and thinking, she let out a sigh.
"You really are quite a bastard..."
Cassian raised an eyebrow and shrugged.
"I let you live that day, Morgana. I assure you that if I were in another moment of my life, that wouldn’t have happened."
The serene face of the black-haired woman showed signs of cracking.
She stood up from the chair once she finished her tea, left the cup on the table and gave him a calm look.
"You’ll be hearing from me one of these days. I’m very interested in that invitation you made," with a confident smile, she turned around and left the room without saying goodbye.
Cassian watched this interaction with amusement; in a way it was what he expected, and he couldn’t say he wasn’t attracted to this woman, she had already surprised him a couple of times.
He leaned back more relaxed in the chair and let out a sigh.
A lopsided smile on his face and his eyes closed looking at the ceiling.
Adela approached her master to massage his shoulders.
Cassian tilted his head slightly toward her hand to open his eyes and look at her intently.
She blushed, and the words he uttered only made it worse.
"What reward does my dear maid want for her surprise the other day?"
...
In the empress’s room, Caelia Lothe had not been idle these days.
Between the information Cassian had given her and her power in the harem, she had more than enough tools, added to the support of her brother if she wished.
Although she, upon remembering him, immediately put on an expression of contempt; it seemed that the beloved sister was not entirely ignorant of her brother’s tastes.
Either way, if she wanted to achieve what Cassian had asked of her, the best way to do it would not be simply with evidence of embezzlement.
Leonardo had to fall completely into despair, or she felt that Cassian would not be satisfied.
Caelia approached her desk and began to draw a map of her son’s connections.
Leonardo was proud, he depended on his image as the "perfect prince" and the unconditional love he believed his mother professed for him.
Her first move would not be to denounce him.
Instead, she decided to use her brother’s support to "feed" Leonardo’s secret vices, giving him a rope long enough for him to hang himself.
She was going to leak false information so that Leonardo would make an unforgivable mistake, one that would not only ruin his career, but would force him to return begging for mercy.
"And when he returns on his knees, seeking refuge in my arms," Caelia squeezed the pen until the tip bent, "I will show him that his mother’s arms are now his chains."
While she finished planning the ruin of her own son, Rose looked at her mistress with concern.
She had been acting strange these days after the kidnapping; besides, she had always thought she wouldn’t let Cassian go after that.
...
Xingyue had returned with the elves.
Upon seeing the completely destroyed room, she frowned and, with a wave of her hand, the room returned to normal.
She sat down at the table and returned to her usual:
Tap, tap, tap.
Product of her anxiety.
The slight movements seemed to alert those who had been desperately searching for her.
"Miss Fairy! Thank God, you’re back."
Xingyue gave her an angry look.
"There’s nothing to thank God for, Celestia. I was this close to finding my master and I just lost the opportunity like that."
The elven princess had a doubtful expression.
"Xingyue... your master... was he the one who caused that explosion in the sky several days ago?"
The woman with perfect white skin, black hair lightly gathered, and light blue eyes that took one’s breath away and seemed to contain stars in them, simply let her shoulders drop in resignation and nodded with a soft:
"Mmm..."
The princess seemed nervous at her response, as if this information broke certain chains within her.
"Xingyue... I think you should leave this place."
The look the "fairy" gave Celestia was one of total intrigue and a touch of persistent annoyance.
The elven princess didn’t hold back:
"They are not looking for him."
Xingyue stopped tapping her fingers abruptly.
The silence in the room became so thick that Celestia felt it was hard to breathe.
