Chapter 2856: Chapter 2857: Ao Song’s Divination
The eunuch who delivered the decree shivered in fear. He had heard of Jiang Yichun’s notorious reputation, and even the Emperor, remembering their childhood friendship, held him in high regard. He was just an eunuch delivering an edict; offending the Emperor’s favored one was out of the question. If Jiang Yichun, in a fit of anger, decided to chop him down, it would be a pointless death.
"Master Jiang, please calm down. I truly don’t know the situation, let’s discuss this properly," the eunuch’s tone softened considerably. He pondered that if "life or death" was mentioned, it was likely a serious illness. Otherwise, given Jiang Yichun’s affections for Bai Ruozhu, how could he curse her?
Jiang Yichun’s murderous aura diminished slightly, "Do you know why the Emperor suddenly issued an edict?"
"The king of the Barbarian Tribe brought a distinguished guest to the Capital City. It seems this guest has a very noble identity and made this suggestion to the Emperor," the decree-delivering eunuch said.
"Sangta?" Jiang Yichun asked.
"Yes, yes, it’s the Sangta King," the eunuch replied.
Jiang Yichun frowned in thought. A guest of noble identity, could it be Ao Song?
"Right, that guest entered the Capital riding a white camel," the eunuch added.
It must be Ao Song; white camels are incredibly rare, and only Ao Song could manage such a feat as to bring one from the Barbarian Clan to Danliang’s Capital City.
"Why not have you accompany me to see how my wife is doing?" Jiang Yichun was not entirely trusting of this decree-delivering eunuch and planned to let him only glance from the room’s doorway.
Soon, there was a cold jade bed inside the house, which ordinary people could not endure due to the cold.
"Alright, I appreciate your guidance, Master Jiang," the decree-delivering eunuch respectfully saluted with a perfectly practiced gesture, something that could not be accomplished without numerous repetitions.
Jiang Yichun felt a bit more reassured and led them to Bai Ruozhu’s room.
"Why is it so cold?" Indeed, as they approached, the eunuch exclaimed.
"My wife has a special condition, the room must remain cold," Jiang Yichun said.
The decree-delivering eunuch sighed, having heard that Master Bai was a Divine Doctor; such an odd illness that he couldn’t treat himself surely indicated a tough case.
Finally, he saw Bai Ruozhu inside, her face ashen and bloodless, causing him to shiver in fear. Oh my, is she dead?
Fortunately, he hadn’t insisted earlier; if Bai Ruozhu had died and was blamed on him, he would have been in trouble.
"Perhaps I should read the Holy Edict at the doorway?" The eunuch cautiously asked.
"Please, eunuch," Jiang Yichun said.
"By the Mandate of Heaven, the Emperor commands: ’Lady Chief Doctor Bai Ruozhu is both talented and virtuous, with a reputation known to allied nations, hence is summoned back to the Capital to oversee trade matters with the Barbarian Tribe and Western Regions...’" the decree-delivering eunuch read shrilly, and after finishing, handed over a letter sealed with wax, "This secret edict is to be handed to Master Jiang after the Holy Edict is read."
Jiang Yichun handed over a brocade pouch, "Thank you, eunuch."
The decree-delivering eunuch, afraid of getting into trouble, hurriedly took his leave.
Jiang Yichun quickly opened the secret letter and finally understood the reason behind everything.
The letter was handwritten by Tang Yin, stating that Ao Song had divined that Bai Ruozhu was destined for great calamity and had specifically sought out Sangta to journey to the Capital. Officially, they claimed it was to establish diplomatic relations and trade with Danliang Country, hoping Bai Ruozhu would oversee this, as she was honored by the Barbarian Tribe.
However, Ao Song was uncertain about the exact timing and circumstances, and after calculating that Bai Ruozhu would return to the Capital, he set off with Sangta. Unexpectedly, Bai Ruozhu and her companions soon left the Capital City.
Jiang Yichun hurried into the room and read the letter aloud to Bai Ruozhu, knowing she would be able to hear it.
Bai Ruozhu felt a bit emotional, thinking that if she had contacted Ao Song sooner, she might have avoided this disaster.
Moreover, Ao Song implied that it didn’t matter when, as long as they returned to the Capital, clearly indicating that Ao Song had a solution.
Perhaps this was a new hope.
"Ruozhu, should we return to the Capital?" Jiang Yichun, connected in spirit with her, guessed her decision.
Chushuang immediately said from the side, "She needs the cold jade bed; the journey to the Capital is still long, how will that work?"
"By taking the water route," Jiang Yichun said.
Beiyu City has a waterway to the Capital; the cold jade bed can also be placed on a boat.
Bai Ruozhu’s Space is portable; when her body moves, the Space moves with it, and Bai Ruozhu’s soul follows along.
"But if any danger arises on the way, it won’t be as well-guarded as at home. What if..." Gao Zhou dragged his words.
This was also Jiang Yichun’s concern; he couldn’t help but look at Ning Yu, "Brother Ning, what do you think?"
"Are you saying that Ao Song is from the Zhong Family in the Western Regions?" Ning Yu asked.
Jiang Yichun nodded, "I’ve heard the National Master also comes from the Zhong Family."
"Go, the Soul Gathering Array here isn’t very certain, but over there should be an opportunity. Besides, there might be a reason for choosing the Capital; I remember my master saying that the Capital gathers dragon Qi, making it possible to set up profound arrays," Ning Yu said.
The group, after hearing this, no longer objected. Even though the road ahead was fraught with difficulties, they could only give it a try.
Inside the Space, Bai Ruozhu was also willing to take a gamble; she didn’t want to continue like this any longer.
...
In the Imperial Palace in the Capital City, Ao Song was chatting with Consort Le. Consort Le asked concernedly, "Did you really divine that Ruozhu would face a calamity?"
"She is one with purple Qi rising in the east, with an excellent fate, but extreme abundance leads to decline, and she is destined for calamity. Once she overcomes this hurdle, she will have smooth sailing ahead," Ao Song said.
"But I feel she’s had a hard time, always going to dangerous places," Consort Le sighed involuntarily.
Ao Song laughed heartily, "I see that she quite enjoys running around; if she were to stay calmly in one place, she would find it boring."
"Then will they soon return to the Capital?" Consort Le asked, "Can’t you go find her?"
Ao Song shook his head, "They must come to the Capital; only here do I have a way, and also, the matter concerning Prince Xi can be resolved together."
Consort Le brightened up; it had always been said that Prince Xi was too young for the curse to be easily lifted, but a mother’s heart could not rest. Now that it could be resolved, she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
...
Jiang Yichun quickly sprung into action; the custom-made horse carriage at Bai Residence was put back into use, able to accommodate the cold jade bed. For safety reasons, Jiang Yichun planned to test it first: If Bai Ruozhu’s body were moved and her soul trapped in place, she’d have Xiaohei come out and relay any issues.
Fortunately, after several tests, Bai Ruozhu’s soul moved with her body, and Jiang Yichun breathed a great sigh of relief.
Seeing their departure, Bai Zehao and his wife immediately inquired about the situation, to which Jiang Yichun explained everything in detail.
"Brother, please take care of father and mother; just tell them we are going to the Capital by the Emperor’s edict, but don’t let them worry themselves sick," Jiang Yichun instructed.
"Alright, we understand. You must ensure you take good care of our younger sister and bring her back safely," Bai Zehao said tearfully. He, a seven-foot man, rarely cried, but now was truly worried for his sister’s safety.
Jiang Yichun solemnly said, "Brother, rest assured, we will certainly find a way to cure Ruozhu. But the two little ones will be a burden to you."
