Chapter 2852: Chapter 2853: Chushuang and Jing Shuang
It was also Jing Shuang’s first time seeing Chushuang, and her expression didn’t look good. She had always thought that Gao Zhou would never find that woman in his lifetime, and he would eventually accept her. After all, he had been searching for over twenty years, and if he could have found her, he would have done so long ago, unless the person was already dead.
But unexpectedly, she actually saw Chushuang, the woman who existed in Gao Zhou’s memories.
Back when she first met Gao Zhou, he mistakenly thought she was Chushuang, and when he realized she wasn’t, he fell into a state of depression. She couldn’t help but feel heartache; how deep must his feelings and how profound his pain be to make a man show such an expression?
But why was she empathizing with him? She must be sick, the kind of sickness that makes you a bleeding heart.
Later, Gao Zhou went drinking alone, and she couldn’t resist following him secretly, watching him from the shadows.
When the tavern closed, he staggered out, taking another pot of wine with him. She, inexplicably, followed him once again.
"Chushuang, where are you?" Gao Zhou cried out in agony. As he stumbled, he tripped and fell, the wine pot in his hand shattering into pieces. He muddledly tried to pick himself up, oblivious to the fact that his hand was cut and bleeding.
Jing Shuang, involuntarily, rushed over and said worriedly, "Wake up, I’ll take you back."
Gao Zhou looked at her through his bleary eyes and said, "Chushuang, Chushuang, you came to find me?"
He suddenly hugged her, his strength frightening. She wanted to push him away, but couldn’t, which only made her feel more annoyed.
"Do you know? We once watched a sword dance together, and you told me to learn it to show you. I went to Hidden Sword Villa just to learn it. Shall I dance it for you now?" Gao Zhou said, releasing her again.
She wanted to lose her temper, but didn’t know where to direct it.
Gao Zhou staggered to his feet and suddenly drew the sword from his waist. She, inexplicably, feared he might hurt himself with his heavy intoxication.
"No, not now. Let’s talk about it tomorrow," she said.
"Right now, you just stand there and watch," Gao Zhou smiled at her, grinning like a foolish boy.
His smile gradually faded, and the sword in his hand began to move. Just a moment ago, he was too drunk to walk steadily, yet now he was gracefully dancing with the sword, his movements flawless without a hint of instability. It was evident how many times he had practiced, capable of doing it perfectly even while drunk.
His movements slowly blurred, and Jing Shuang realized it was because tears had clouded her vision.
She was drawn in by his movements, realizing how tall and compelling he was. He had a lethal allure.
She even felt a sense of envy and jealousy towards the woman whose name was so similar to hers. How did she win his heart?
When the sword dance ended, Gao Zhou dropped the sword and fell to the ground with a thud, snoring away.
She found herself both laughing and crying, laboriously helping him up, picking up his sword, and taking him back to the inn.
After getting him back to his room, he suddenly grabbed her and pulled her down, making her lie on top of him.
Jing Shuang heard her own heartbeat drumming rapidly—a feeling she had never experienced before. She was both scared and excited, reluctant to move away.
After a while, when he settled down, she slowly got up, looking at his sleeping face, she was momentarily captivated, inexplicably lowering her head to lightly kiss his lips.
Oh my god, she had never even held a man’s hand before, yet she had just stolen a kiss? She must be going crazy!
In the end, she fled in panic. The next morning, when Gao Zhou woke up searching for Chushuang, he realized it was Jing Shuang, who lived next door, who had brought him back.
He thanked her sincerely, but his eyes couldn’t hide his disappointment. Proud as she was, she felt very upset and left in a huff.
She thought it was just a mistaken encounter, but they ran into each other a few more times in the River Jiang, and eventually, they became friends. However, Gao Zhou’s heart was only ever with Chushuang, and he could never accept another woman.
Chushuang had swallowed the Dragon Ball, not only regaining flesh but also becoming youthful and energetic compared to Jing Shuang, whose temples were already frosted with age, making her look seven or eight years younger.
She felt so distressed that she struggled to breathe. "Are you Chushuang?"
Chushuang, having heard Gao Zhou mention her, nodded awkwardly. She had known she should have avoided this.
Jing Shuang’s face turned cold, "Why did you leave without a word? Why disappear for so many years? If you still cared about him, you should have returned sooner!"
If she had come back sooner, she would have given up hopes earlier, avoiding wasting all those years of her youth.
Gao Zhou also felt deeply guilty towards Jing Shuang. He hadn’t wronged her but couldn’t offer any response.
He even thought if he never found Chushuang, he would grow old and retreat into seclusion with her, to not let her love over the years be in vain and spare her from growing old by herself.
But now that he had found Chushuang, he couldn’t respond to her feelings anymore.
"I tried every moment to return, even using every means possible, but I couldn’t escape," Chushuang said painfully.
In the Space, Bai Ruozhu watched all of this, feeling sympathetic towards the two of them.
She had been startled when she first saw Chushuang on Merfolk Island and understood what Chushuang had been through all these years. It wasn’t that she didn’t want her husband and child; she simply couldn’t escape.
Even though Jing Shuang was meeting her for the first time, she had been devoted to Gao Zhou for many years and had helped them considerably. Now that her youth had passed, it truly evoked sympathy.
Love is the most hurtful yet moving thing.
"We went overseas to rescue Chushuang; she had been under control for many years and even..." Gao Zhou hurriedly began to explain on behalf of Chushuang.
Unexpectedly, Jing Shuang felt even worse, "She doesn’t look like she’s been suffering; she looks quite well, doesn’t she?"
"It’s not like that," Gao Zhou quickly said. "Her flesh was taken from her, and she barely had any hope left. It was by accident that she obtained the Dragon Ball which saved her life."
Jing Shuang was shocked, "Dragon Ball? I thought dragons only existed in legends."
Chushuang approached and held out her hand, "Try it, with your ability, you should be able to feel it."
Jing Shuang hesitated for a moment but eventually reached out, and soon her expression calmed down.
"I see, I was too impulsive. Let’s take a look at Bai Ruozhu’s situation first," she hid her embarrassment and walked towards the jade bed.
Gao Zhou and Chushuang exchanged a glance, neither said any more about earlier.
"Her soul is gone; how can you be sure she’s still alive? Excuse me for being blunt, but she’s just a corpse now," Jing Shuang said.
Chushuang wavered, almost losing her balance.
"No, my mother is still alive; she said she could definitely come back!" Little Dengdeng shouted, charging into the room angrily at Jing Shuang, "Don’t say that, my mother keeps her promises!"
Chushuang hurriedly pulled Little Dengdeng over, softly saying, "Granny Jing Shuang is trying to find a way to save your mother. You shouldn’t speak to her like this."
Little Dengdeng felt aggrieved, "My mother really is alive, she even wrote!"

The baby was taken to attend a lecture at the Chinese department of Peking University today and saw the Unnamed Lake. Peking University is truly a place of outstanding talent. It’s a pity the baby studies Chinese literature but couldn’t get into Peking University, boohoo...
