Chapter 2849: Chapter 2850: We Must Save Her
At least now Dengdeng knows she’s still alive and won’t be sad, but how can she come back to life?
Bai Ruozhu was worried. At the very least, she had to leave the space to return to her body, right?
But why couldn’t she leave? Was it because she was in a soul state?
It was late at night, and Little Dengdeng, exhausted from a day of fussing, fell asleep in Xiaohei’s arms, treating Xiaohei like a mother.
"Xiaohui, do you know how I can return to my body?" Bai Ruozhu asked the wolf soul.
"I don’t know." Xiaohui shook his head. He was just a clueless second goods.
"Alright, you ask Xiaohei to take care of Dengdeng. I’ll think of a way." Bai Ruozhu thought the problem might lie within the space. Instead of worrying, she preferred to look around; perhaps she’d discover something.
Her entire being was light and buoyant, and gravity seemed to have no effect on her as she floated over to the hot spring pool.
She wanted to jump into the hot spring to bubble, but her body floated above the water and couldn’t go down.
"Master, what’s happened to you?" Quanxin flew out and asked disdainfully.
"I’m pretty much dead, I guess. You’ll probably have to find a new master soon," Bai Ruozhu said helplessly.
"You carry a heavy scent of death. I feel like devouring you," Quanxin said, jumping to express its urgent need.
"You dare!" Bai Ruozhu glared, and Quanxin flew away, saying, "I’ll stay away from you, lest I lose control."
Bai Ruozhu visited the fish pond but discovered nothing, watching the forest next, finding the same — she couldn’t approach or touch anything.
Finally, her gaze fell on the sleeping white dragon.
It was a wholly white dragon egg, lying quietly in a corner, with no idea of what was happening inside.
As she slowly approached, the closer she got, the clearer she could see inside the egg. The dragon egg seemed to become transparent to her.
Inside, the white dragon was curled up entirely, like a baby in the mother’s womb, both defensive and affectionate.
He was unclothed but covered by a cascade of black hair enveloping his whole body.
He looked supremely holy, without a hint of desecration.
Perhaps the white dragon could save her?
"White dragon? White dragon?" Bai Ruozhu tried to call him, but unfortunately, the white dragon was asleep and couldn’t hear.
Previously, Chushuang summoned the dragon ball but couldn’t wake the white dragon, and the dragon ball returned to her body.
Bai Ruozhu thought it unrealistic to wake the white dragon. Was she to be trapped here indefinitely?
She wasn’t dead, but if her body decayed, how different would that be from being dead?
Outside, Jiang Yichun had awakened, looking disheveled, his eyes unfocused as if he had lost the will to live.
Bai Ruozhu hurriedly asked Xiaohui to pass a message to Xiaohei to wake the sleeping Dengdeng so he could console his father.
"Don’t stop me, I must find Ruozhu." Jiang Yichun’s voice was hoarse, tinged with sobs, making listeners feel pained, and Chushuang and Gao Zhou couldn’t help but cry.
Suddenly, Gao Zhou slapped him, "Wake up! Ruozhu can still be saved, but you’ve fallen first. Do you want to save her or not?"
Chushuang tenderly grabbed Gao Zhou’s hand, "Don’t hit. Talk to the child gently."
She looked at Jiang Yichun and said, "Little Dengdeng saw Ruozhu; she’s still alive. He’ll tell you when he comes out."
Light returned to Jiang Yichun’s eyes as he turned to look around for Little Dengdeng.
Little Dengdeng was a bit muddled after Xiaohei woke him up, but seeing the situation outside, he quickly became alert and rushed out of the space, hugging his father’s neck tightly.
"Dad, I went into mom’s space. Mom is really alive; she’s on Xiaohei. She just soothed me to sleep and even did exercises for me." Little Dengdeng spoke rapidly, but he was young and anxious, so his words were a bit jumbled.
"Really? You’re not lying to Dad?" Jiang Yichun’s eyes were filled with hope, longing for a positive answer.
"No, I was also very sad, thinking that both you and mom were leaving us, but mom is still there. We have to find a way to save her!" Little Dengdeng started crying.
Gao Zhou wiped his eyes, "Look at your son. He knows we should save his mom, yet you’re holding back. You should reflect on this as a father!"
Jiang Yichun instantly sat up straight, gathered his disheveled hair back to the top of his head, transforming his entire demeanor.
"I will pick myself up and find a way to save Ruozhu," he said resolutely.
Gao Zhou and Chushuang exchanged a glance and both breathed a sigh of relief; there was hope at last.
"It must be that Ruozhu was affected by the transfer technique and also injured by the wolf soul, resulting in heavy death qi on her, causing her soul to leave her body. Fortunately, she has a treasure that allowed her soul to enter the space," Gao Zhou analyzed bit by bit.
Jiang Yichun nodded, "She should be unable to come out; otherwise, she’d have explained to me already. Luckily, Little Dengdeng can go in, though it’s a pity I can’t."
"Your mother intended to return the dragon ball to the white dragon to save Ruozhu, but the dragon ball left her body, and the white dragon remained asleep, impossible to awaken," Gao Zhou added.
Jiang Yichun looked at Chushuang, "Mom, without the dragon ball, you’ll die. How could you..."
Chushuang smiled back, her smile full of kindness, "I’m old now, indifferent to how long I live. I just want to see you all doing well."
"Mom..." Jiang Yichun was moved, relieved that it hadn’t succeeded; otherwise, even if Ruozhu revived, she’d feel guilty for life.
"Now we must find a way to protect Ruozhu’s body. If her body fails, she’ll be left with no escape," Chushuang said somberly.
"Can we use ice?" Jiang Yichun asked urgently.
Chushuang shook her head, "If it’s just three to five days, ice would suffice, but we need to prepare for a longer term. Ideally, we need a cold jade bed."
"I’ll figure out a way," Jiang Yichun said, heading out.
"I’ll message Ning Yu and the astrologer to discuss solutions," Gao Zhou said.
"And your confidante," Chushuang added.
Gao Zhou was somewhat embarrassed, "This..."
"Hurry up. During such times, do you think I care about these things? Saving Ruozhu is more important!" Chushuang glared at him.
Gao Zhou and Jiang Yichun both left. Chushuang tried to coax Dengdeng to sleep, only to be told he wanted to go to the space to find his mom, then he disappeared in a flash.
In the space, Little Dengdeng held Xiaohei’s neck, saying, "Mom, I’m so sleepy. Can you tell me a story?"
Xiaohei whined twice; it wanted to, but it couldn’t speak human words, and it wasn’t his mom, so stop calling him that!
The next morning, Jianqi and Yizi rushed back. Yizi’s internal injuries were somewhat better, but her face was still pale. Both were worried about Bai Ruozhu’s situation, so they returned without much rest.
Little did they know Bai Ruozhu was still in trouble.
