Chapter 2793: Chapter 2794: Reincarnation of the Xuan Gui
"Xinxin..." Tears flowed uncontrollably from Diao Bin’s eyes. Their Royal Family had few offspring, yet brothers turned against each other. Many died in palace chaos, leaving only her and her royal brother. Xinxin Prince had only her as his aunt.
She picked up Xinxin Prince. The child was quite sturdy, with a lovable chubby face.
"Aunt, Aunt." Xinxin Prince said happily, unable to say anything else, he called out joyously.
Tang Yin’s eyes also reddened, his heart suddenly softened.
She was his only full-blooded sister, and their relationship was the closest. Was there anything he couldn’t forgive or argue with her about?
Diao Bin had suffered quite a bit too. She was not much younger than Bai Ruozhu, who already had three children, yet Diao Bin had not married.
Never mind, he had been too agitated before, stubbornly stuck on things.
Xinxin Prince’s arrival eased the atmosphere. Tang Yin asked everyone to sit and said to Diao Bin, "Tell us about your experiences over the past year or so."
Diao Bin wiped her eyes and said, "It’s a long story. Let me speak with my royal brother alone today."
"Alright."
Tang Yin had Bai Ruozhu and the others leave, leaving only Diao Bin in the Palace. Ning Yu was a bit worried, but Diao Bin asked him to wait for her outside the Palace.
Bai Ruozhu noticed Meng Jinse’s mood was off, so she hurried everyone out of the Palace back to Bai Residence.
She somewhat understood Meng Jinse’s current feelings, but they shouldn’t be visible to outsiders, especially the Emperor.
"Jinse, you did nothing wrong. It’s all in the past, your life should return to normal. Grandma and godfather are waiting for you to return." Bai Ruozhu comforted her softly.
Meng Jinse remained motionless, like a puppet that lost its soul.
Bai Ruozhu sighed, used some calming medicine, and had her sleep well.
"How is she?" Jiang Yichun asked upon seeing her come out, holding her hand as they walked back.
"Not too well." She lowered her voice, "She has some feelings for King Rui. After all King Rui achieved much and being touched is inevitable."
"King Rui is an impressive figure, but he chose the wrong path." Jiang Yichun sighed.
Bai Ruozhu commented, "He no longer wishes for power, only to retire with Jinse. At least he woke up, pity they’re not of the same world."
Jiang Yichun held her hand tighter. Luckily they met earlier and he wasn’t brainwashed by Wu Yunfeng, else they might be on opposing sides.
The next day, Diao Bin returned from the Palace, looking much less troubled, her complexion improved.
"My royal brother agreed to let me leave." She said smiling to Ning Yu.
Ning Yu happily grabbed her hand, "That’s great. I’ll accompany you wherever you want to go, and we can return occasionally to see them."
"Mm." Diao Bin smiled sweetly.
Soon after, people from the Palace came to summon Jiang Yichun and Ning Yu. When they returned, Jiang Yichun seemed fine, but Ning Yu’s face was black and blue.
"The Emperor hit him." Jiang Yichun whispered to Bai Ruozhu.
Bai Ruozhu held back laughter, recalling when a classmate dated in high school, her brother beat the guy up, the classmate felt aggrieved, while she thought having a brother was great.
Ning Yu blushingly said to Diao Bin, "The Emperor wants us to have our wedding before leaving the Capital City, just a simple one."
"Ah?" Diao Bin blushed too.
"We’ll hold it at Bai Residence. Tomorrow, the Emperor will go out in disguise to officiate the wedding for us." Ning Yu said.
"Alright, then I’ll get ready."
Bai Ruozhu already heard about it from Jiang Yichun, and immediately grabbed Si Yihuan to get busy, hanging celebratory lights where they should, and hurriedly preparing wedding outfits.
Given the rush, they finally used the ones from Si Yihuan and Bai Zepei’s wedding. In Danliang Country, there was also a saying using loving couples’ wedding attire, symbolizing a harmonious union like theirs.
The wedding was simple and discreet, but the Emperor and Consort Le were present. Consort Le was still in confinement, heavily bundled.
Tang Yin’s eyes were red throughout. He married off his sister, feeling sentimental and unwilling, yet wanted to hit Ning Yu again.
Ning Yu was already bruised as the groom today; hitting him further might prevent consummation.
Two days after the wedding, the group finally left the Capital City, heading towards Beiyu City.
After seven or eight days, Meng Jinse’s emotions improved, eating and sleeping normally, but she was quiet, often staring blankly alone.
Bai Ruozhu worried about her mental health, secretly observing her, and confirmed she was just very sad, with no mental issues.
The group tried not to delay on the road. Fortunately, the weather was good, and they soon arrived at Beiyu City.
The Founder of Merfolk had been following them all along, like an ordinary elderly woman, quiet like Meng Jinse.
Upon seeing the Meng Family, Meng Jinse seemed to suddenly emerge from her sorrow, hugging Madame Meng and crying, even showing a smile.
But Bai Ruozhu noticed she was faking it, to prevent worrying her family.
Unsettled, she found Meng Liangshen and shared the story about King Rui.
Meng Liangshen wept bitterly, "Poor child, she’s deeply emotional. She surely can’t let go. It’s not her fault."
"Godfather, please look after her more, her heart is much troubled." Bai Ruozhu sighed.
At this point, the Founder of Merfolk approached from afar, "Ruozhu, I’m going for a stroll in this city."
Meng Liangshen looked toward her, "Who is this?"
"An elder I met in Fusang, helped me a lot." Bai Ruozhu said casually, then turned to the Founder of Merfolk, only to find her staring blankly at Meng Liangshen.
Bai Ruozhu’s heart skipped a beat, could it be that Meng Liangshen was Xuan Gui reborn?
Indeed, the Founder’s eyes reddened, emotionally asking, "Are you alright?"
Meng Liangshen rapidly looked to Bai Ruozhu, "Have I met her before?"
"She was a Danliang native and drifted to Fusang many years ago." Bai Ruozhu was momentarily at a loss for explanation.
Yet the Founder stared fixedly at Meng Liangshen, sadly asking, "Do you not remember me at all?"
Meng Liangshen was bewildered, "Probably too long ago, I can’t recall. May I know your surname?"
"Ayan." The Founder said softly.
Meng Liangshen was jolted, seemingly recalling something yet remembering nothing clearly.
Bai Ruozhu didn’t know what else to do, quickly signalling her, "I’ll accompany you on a walk. Next time, you can reminisce with my godfather."
Without waiting for the Founder’s response, she hurriedly took her outside.
"Ayan, is he really Xuan Gui?" Bai Ruozhu asked, amazed at the possibility since she’d interacted with Meng Liangshen often before, yet never suspected him.
"Yes, it’s him. He carries Xuan Gui’s Qi, extremely strong." The Founder said.
