Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Going to Miles’ Residence
Although Chase Shaw’s tone was normal, for some reason, Aaron Xavier felt he was subtly showing off with that comment.
He definitely knew why they were all looking at him.
And he definitely knew what they were jealous of.
Aaron Xavier couldn’t be bothered to take the bait. It was pointless. So he just huffed and turned his head away, ignoring him.
Twenty minutes later, the Hovercar arrived at its destination.
Miles Sherman was waiting for them at the main gate. When he saw Zoe Pierce, a flash of admiration lit up his eyes, and the corners of his lips curved into a slight smile.
Zoe Pierce had just come to a stop when she heard a child’s voice from inside the door: "Brother, is Zoe here yet?"
As the voice spoke, a flurry of soft footsteps accompanied a running figure that appeared before Zoe Pierce.
A little girl, only as tall as Miles Sherman’s waist.
She wore a cream-colored bubble dress, and her fine, long hair was tied up, revealing a small face.
She bore some resemblance to Miles Sherman around the eyes, but her features were softer.
The running figure, upon seeing people at the door, immediately and cautiously grabbed the corner of Miles Sherman’s shirt.
But when she realized the stranger before her was Zoe Pierce, she immediately broke into a smile and called out tentatively, "Zoe?"
Zoe Pierce crouched down, smiling brightly at her. "Hello, Hope Sherman."
Hope Sherman’s eyes lit up. She reached out to take Zoe Pierce’s hand, growing bolder. "Zoe, you’re here! I’ll show you around my house."
Zoe Pierce was pulled along by her, arriving inside before she even had a chance to take out the gift she had prepared.
Miles’ Residence was a typical grand villa, decorated in a classical wooden style.
As soon as she entered the house, Zoe Pierce heard a gentle female voice. "Hope, you can’t pull on her like that."
She looked up and saw Mrs. Sherman, whom she had seen before on the Intelligent Brain.
Her temperament was exactly the same as it had appeared in the video—gentle, with delicate eyebrows and smiling lips.
Seeing Zoe Pierce, she offered an apologetic smile. "I’m sorry, Hope is a bit mischievous."
Zoe Pierce quickly waved her hands. "Not at all, not at all."
As if afraid Zoe Pierce would misunderstand, Mrs. Sherman added, "I was just delayed a bit today. I’m leaving right away, so you all have fun."
With that, Mrs. Sherman went to pick up the Space Button that was on the table.
Seeing Miles Sherman, Nathan Lockwood, and the others come in, she smiled slightly and said the same thing.
Those words were only to placate Zoe Pierce.
Aaron Xavier and the others were all sharp cookies. Coming from families like theirs, there was no such thing as being "delayed."
The way Mrs. Sherman was smiling as she watched Zoe Pierce was clearly a matchmaking appraisal.
For a moment, a few of them had their own calculations running through their minds.
Sure enough, as soon as Mrs. Sherman got in the Hovercar, the first thing she did was contact Mr. Sherman.
Mr. Sherman was in his office. Seeing Mrs. Sherman’s smiling face, he asked, "Satisfied?"
Mrs. Sherman smiled. "You can tell she’s a pretty decent person."
Clearly, her first impression of Zoe Pierce was quite good.
"I can see that although Miles doesn’t say anything, he’s clearly interested in this girl."
They were experienced people; they’d seen it all and could naturally tell.
"When Miles looks at her, his whole face softens." Mrs. Sherman laughed. His perpetually stoic face could soften sometimes, and it was a dead giveaway every time.
But after listening, Mr. Sherman said, "Let them get to know each other on their own."
"Don’t interfere just yet."
Mrs. Sherman wanted to interfere, but she had no idea where to even start.
"I know, but I think the other guys seem to have a good impression of Zoe too," Mrs. Sherman said after a thought.
She wasn’t sure if it was because the kids were all on the same team, but Mrs. Sherman still felt that the way the Alphas looked at Zoe Pierce was very close and familiar.
Mr. Sherman, however, wasn’t concerned. "Let them compete on their own merits."
When it came to chasing Omegas, Mr. Sherman didn’t have much experience either.
He and Mrs. Sherman had met through a blind date and followed a conventional path. Mrs. Sherman was his first girlfriend, and moreover, his first love.
If everyone really did like Zoe Pierce, then Miles would have to step up his game.
-
「Meanwhile, at Miles’ Residence.」
Zoe Pierce was led by Hope to tour the rooms.
Meanwhile, Ewan Sherman was practically hanging off Chase Shaw, his small body supported by Chase’s arm, his hands draped around Chase’s neck.
Aaron Xavier teased him, "So you don’t like me anymore? Some people have no conscience."
Ewan Sherman was thin-skinned. He let go of his hands around Chase Shaw’s neck and reached out to him.
But Chase Shaw whispered, "Don’t mind him."
Aaron Xavier deliberately tut-tutted twice, making Ewan Sherman’s face twist with conflict and indecision.
Miles Sherman didn’t say a word about the two of them teasing the child; instead, he looked over toward Zoe Pierce.
A moment ago, Hope had secretly whispered something to her, and the two of them had specifically told no one to follow as they went upstairs to a room by themselves.
There was no sound from upstairs, which made him a little worried.
Miles Sherman thought for a moment, then went upstairs to take a look.
In Hope’s room, he saw the two of them, one big and one small, huddled in a corner, sitting cross-legged with their backs to him.
Sensing someone behind her, Zoe Pierce looked up.
Miles Sherman met her gaze, only to see her trying to stifle a laugh.
"Look, this is my brother, and this is Aaron."
"Mom says my brother has been serious since he was little, not as cute as Aaron."
Only Hope didn’t know Miles had arrived, and she was still whispering, "Mom specially printed out my brother’s childhood photos. I think she did it so she could make fun of him sometimes."
Miles Sherman: "..."
"Although Aaron can be really annoying sometimes, he was pretty handsome when he was little."
"Even though he’s not as good-looking as my brother now, he was way better-looking than my brother back then."
It was funny, hearing such words from someone so small.
Just a moment ago, she had already gone through and commented on Chase Shaw and the others.
Zoe Pierce looked at the photo of Aaron Xavier, who had big eyes and a wide grin. He was soaked from head to toe—who knows what he’d been playing in—but his bright, adorable energy practically overflowed from the picture.
As she turned to the last page, Hope didn’t forget to add, "Don’t tell my brother and the others, okay? This is Mom’s secret."
"Mom says that if my brother and the others find out these photos were printed, they’ll be unhappy. We have to be sneaky."
This was also the first time Miles Sherman had learned that such an album existed.
Seeing that Hope was about to turn around, Zoe Pierce quickly gestured for Miles to hide, or else the secret would be discovered.
Miles Sherman couldn’t help but shake his head, but he still backed out of the room.
Hope closed the album and heard a familiar male voice from the doorway, "Hope! What are you two doing?"
Hope’s expression immediately became flustered. She held the album as if it were scalding hot. "Brother, we weren’t doing anything."
Zoe Pierce pointed to the Space Button. Hope, as if waking from a dream, quickly put the album inside.
It was as if Miles Sherman had timed it perfectly, only appearing after she had hidden the album.
"Would you like a drink?" He entered the room and asked Zoe Pierce first. Zoe was also smiling.
Hearing this, she nodded and looked at Hope. "Hope, would you like something to drink?"
Hope’s eyes still held a trace of guilt, and she now wished Miles would just leave quickly. "Yes, Brother, please get me a glass of coconut water."
