Chapter 241: Chapter 241: Defying the Colonel for Her
Zoe Pierce walked over and wrapped her arms around him.
"Miles, let me hug you."
The words he was about to say caught in his throat, which suddenly felt dry.
His hands hung limp for a few seconds before he raised them to cradle the back of her head. "Don’t be scared. It’s all over..."
Zoe Pierce felt a small urge to laugh. They all thought she was the one who was scared.
’That wasn’t it at all.’
It was a much clearer realization of just how important they were to her.
She took a few more deep breaths, silently counting to ten before letting go of Miles Sherman’s waist.
"I know. You guys are the ones who should stop worrying so much about me."
Zoe Pierce didn’t know that her simple hug had made the hearts of several Alphas clench.
The color had yet to return to her face, making them want nothing more than to pull her into their arms and never let go.
They had to clench their jaws to rein in the intense wave of emotion.
The doctor, who had been watching from the side, waited for the moment to pass before speaking. "Rest assured, the previous examination showed no issues, so she should be fine now as well."
"Student Zoe Pierce, please come cooperate with a few more tests."
It was all unavoidable, and Zoe Pierce had no intention of shirking it. She obediently followed the doctor and underwent another complete physical examination.
Before the test results were out, the highest-ranking officer of this operation—the same middle-aged Alpha who had questioned Miles Sherman and the others earlier—came over.
Director Quinn saw the newcomer and greeted him. "Colonel Hanson."
"Director Quinn." Colonel Hanson extended his hand and shook Director Quinn’s. Although the two had no prior dealings, they were both aware of each other’s reputations.
"We have you to thank for your help this time. Otherwise, these kids would have suffered even more." Being able to use the medical pods earlier had greatly alleviated their physical pain.
Colonel Hanson replied, "I was just doing my duty. No thanks are necessary. After the results come in, we’ll need to trouble Student Zoe Pierce to accompany us to the Psionic Training Room."
’What’s coming is coming.’
After another half hour, all the physical reports came back.
Including her pheromones, all indicators pointed to normal values.
Zoe Pierce fell in line behind Director Quinn and Colonel Hanson.
Miles Sherman and the others naturally followed. Seeing this, the military Alphas standing by looked to Colonel Hanson.
Seeing this, Colonel Hanson didn’t stop them. Instead, he nodded. "It’s fine. Let them follow."
Moments later, a large and impressive procession entered the extremely spacious Psionic Training Room.
In truth, he was also trying to sense something from Zoe Pierce.
Even knowing that Zoe Pierce was an Omega with an Alpha’s spiritual power, he couldn’t detect the slightest trace of it on her now.
Like an animal with natural camouflage.
She blended perfectly into the crowd, drawing no attention to herself.
One had to understand that Alphas were most adept at sensing another’s rank from their aura.
She looked just like a delicate and gentle Omega.
Standing firmly in the Psionic Training Room, he looked at her. "I know your Omega spiritual power is S-Class. What about your Alpha spiritual power?"
"S-Class," she said.
Everyone, including Director Quinn and Ryan Jacobs, was stunned.
No one could equate the spiritual power of an S-Class Alpha with such a petite person.
Colonel Hanson continued, "And its specific ability?"
To say she could "copy" them would sound too arrogant, so Zoe Pierce phrased it another way. "I can learn any spiritual power that has been used in front of me."
The moment she said it, the very air seemed to hold its breath.
Even Colonel Hanson looked at her in surprise. "You mean, if a spiritual power is demonstrated in front of you, you can use it too?"
"If it’s a spiritual power like Miles Sherman’s, it’s very difficult to learn, and the effect isn’t as good."
"For other types, the effectiveness varies depending on the category."
For instance, Aaron Xavier’s and Nathan Lockwood’s spiritual powers were the ones Zoe Pierce used most proficiently now; they were almost as natural to her as breathing.
The same went for Chase Shaw’s spiritual power, which had become more adept and natural after she started wearing Gravity weights even in her daily life.
Colonel Hanson set his hat aside, stood in the center, and smiled at Zoe Pierce. "Then how about you trouble yourself to use your spiritual power and fight me? You can observe my spiritual power while you’re at it."
Zoe Pierce nodded, but she glanced down at her patient gown and added, "Would you mind if I changed my clothes first?"
Of course, Colonel Hanson wouldn’t refuse such a small request.
In the next room, Zoe Pierce changed into a Federation training uniform and tied up her hair.
After standing before Colonel Hanson and hearing him say "begin," she immediately sprang into action.
But the moment the fight started, she understood the Alpha before her was only testing her. He made no move, simply observing her every action.
’In that case, I just won’t let him see.’
Everyone got a direct demonstration of what Zoe Pierce meant by her spiritual power.
Her speed was extreme, a fluid series of Body Techniques executed without a single flaw. At first, they could follow her with their naked eyes, but soon they felt they couldn’t keep track of her without using spiritual Perception.
Colonel Hanson, who had remained on the defensive, was now forced to make several blocking motions.
His battle-honed body reacted to the danger before his mind even processed it, but the instant he raised his arm, it felt as if a stone weighing dozens of pounds had suddenly been attached to it, causing his movement to lag abruptly.
The instant before he could overcome the Gravity and lift his hand, the weight vanished just as suddenly. He had used too much force, and his arm shot up too high.
He took a solid kick to his side.
Zoe Pierce felt her own leg hit him as if it had struck a sheet of iron.
She immediately understood the effect of Colonel Hanson’s spiritual power.
He could harden any part of his body at will. The only ways to fight him were to either completely subdue and pin him down, or go head-to-head with brute force.
After they had been entangled for more than ten minutes, Colonel Hanson discovered that Zoe Pierce’s kicks and strikes were growing heavier and heavier.
Just like how others usually described fighting against him.
Colonel Hanson had no intention of going easy on Zoe Pierce, even though she had already used three or four different types of spiritual power consecutively.
He went all out, fighting her for another half an hour.
The Omega’s spiritual power showed no signs of collapsing.
One hour.
Even for Colonel Hanson, after using his spiritual power continuously like this, he could no longer claim his spirit sea was as unaffected as ever.
His spiritual power was nearly S-Class, yet even he was feeling the strain.
But Zoe Pierce’s eyes were still as bright as they had been at the start.
Two hours.
Colonel Hanson was the one who called a stop to the fight.
Both of them were drenched in sweat. Aaron Xavier was the first to rush forward, handing Zoe Pierce a towel and then a cup of water. "Drink some."
He moved so quickly, and he had pulled the items from his Space Button, that no one expected it. Naturally, no one stopped him.
The contrast was so stark that it made Colonel Hanson laugh in exasperation.
Zoe Pierce’s serious expression immediately softened into a daze.
Just as she took the towel and water from him, she heard Aaron Xavier already confronting Colonel Hanson. "Colonel, she just woke up! Her body just came out of a medical pod. She can’t handle such intense exercise."
"This ends now."
