Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Being Questioned

Hearing that the target was not Arthur White, the supreme commander immediately grew serious. "What’s going on?"

The Alpha Officer reported, "The genetic information we recorded from the start belonged to this person who boarded the Starship. He used concealment techniques and facial reconstruction to disguise himself as the target, Arthur White."

"Our analysis suggests he intentionally let Miles Sherman’s team find him."

"However, we need Nathan Lockwood’s team to confirm whether they are the same person." If Nathan Lockwood’s Perception Spiritual Power had made contact, he should know the answer.

The supreme commander immediately ordered, "Notify Harvestfall at once. Lock down all the planet’s shipping lanes and investigate every Starship that has taken off in the last hour."

"Understood."

Inside the medical bay, Zoe Pierce, Chase Shaw, and Nathan Lockwood were all slid completely into their Healing Pods.

Miles Sherman and Aaron Xavier also underwent a full examination.

Fortunately, they had only suffered some superficial scrapes and soft tissue contusions, all sustained before the Starship was destroyed.

But once their examinations were complete, they were escorted to a brightly lit room furnished with only a table and chairs.

The supreme commander sat across from them, his expression unreadable.

He sized up the two Alphas, who were currently the talk of The Federation.

They didn’t look any different from their appearances on the StarNet; in fact, they seemed even more handsome in person. The two of them appeared to have guessed the reason they were brought here and were now sitting silently across from him.

Resting his arms on the table, the middle-aged Alpha tilted his head up. "So, tell me what happened."

Miles Sherman’s tone was perfectly calm. "Are you asking how we found Arthur White, or something else?"

The middle-aged Alpha’s attitude toward Miles Sherman and Aaron Xavier was relatively courteous. After all, they were victims in a sense, and he had seen their spectacular performance in the friendly match. When dealing with such outstanding young men, he didn’t adopt an interrogative tone.

Instead, he spoke in a more consultative manner. "Tell me everything. We received an emergency call from your academy instructor. He should be on his way here now."

"But his account will surely have some discrepancies compared to yours."

"Also, what’s the deal with Zoe Pierce’s spiritual power?"

If Zoe Pierce weren’t currently unconscious, she would probably have to cooperate with the spiritual power investigation as well.

After hearing this, Miles Sherman first explained how they had discovered Arthur White at the market.

He then detailed how they contacted Director Quinn and used government permissions to track Arthur White.

The middle-aged Alpha had already gotten a general idea of Arthur White’s crimes on his way over, and now Miles Sherman’s account was filling in the details.

He nodded. There were no issues with Miles’s team’s procedures.

Their Starship was a top-of-the-line civilian model, equipped with everything except for laser cannons.

Surviving a suicide attack from over a dozen civilian Starships... it was pure luck that any of them were still alive.

Of course, this inevitably brought the conversation back to Zoe Pierce.

If Zoe Pierce hadn’t been inside the Mecha and was instead completely exposed to space, there would have been only one outcome.

Death.

"You all clearly knew what was going on."

If you didn’t, you wouldn’t have been so certain that Zoe Pierce was in that Mecha.

And the spiritual power that everyone detected was undeniable.

Miles Sherman looked at him steadily. "I believe the fact that Zoe Pierce’s spiritual power underwent a mutation should be on record with the authorities."

The middle-aged Alpha paused. This was new information to him, as he didn’t know much about Zoe Pierce.

He feigned knowledge with a nod.

"Ever since the mutation, she’s been able to use spiritual power," Miles Sherman said.

The middle-aged Alpha nodded. "Then why wasn’t this reported at the time?"

Miles Sherman watched him calmly. "At the time, we discovered that Betas could pilot Mechas. The people on Planet B36 were also conducting human experiments, attempting to enable all Betas to use Mechas."

"We are a team. She is our exclusive Omega."

"And after the incident on Planet B36, the authorities locked up all those who could pilot Mechas."

"We couldn’t take that risk."

The logic was sound, the reasoning clear.

Following their train of thought, it did indeed make sense.

It was just... they had far too little faith in the authorities.

"Miles Sherman, you are all military cadets. Don’t you have even that much trust?"

Miles Sherman replied, "There’s no precedent for a situation like this."

If there had been even a single precedent, they wouldn’t have acted this way.

Although the middle-aged Alpha wasn’t familiar with these matters, he had indeed seen the footage from Miles’s team’s friendly match.

He suddenly recalled the clip of Zoe Pierce that had gone viral on the StarNet.

"So, the one who broke out of the snowy mountain was really Zoe Pierce?" The person who calmly identified all the key points, executed with precision, and single-handedly secured victory wasn’t Miles Sherman, but an Omega like Zoe Pierce?

Both Miles Sherman’s and Aaron Xavier’s expressions softened a little. It was Miles who answered, his reply firm and resolute: "Yes."

For a moment, the middle-aged Alpha couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotion.

It felt as though he was witnessing the rise of a worthy new generation.

If not for today’s incident, who knows how long these kids would have kept this a secret.

No one would have ever known that Zoe Pierce, an Omega, could fight her way out all on her own.

She was even more outstanding than the average Alpha.

He was silent for a long time before remarking, "I will report all of this information truthfully. As for the specifics, we’ll have to wait for the designated personnel to arrive."

"At the same time, on a personal note, I will inform Zoe Pierce’s family and your academy instructor."

At this, Aaron Xavier finally interjected, "We are her family."

The middle-aged Alpha was taken aback. If he remembered correctly, the records indicated that Zoe Pierce had a brother.

"Damien Pierce is not her biological brother, and he has formally severed ties with her." For once, Aaron Xavier’s face was devoid of its usual playful smirk. "We are her family."

"We will be the ones to raise objections regarding her case."

’Don’t let Damien Pierce hurt her again,’ Aaron thought. He didn’t want to see how Damien would treat Zoe after learning this information.

Maybe he would react well, proving he hadn’t lost his last shred of humanity and would take responsibility.

But it was also possible he would just deal another blow to Zoe’s already battered heart.

Aaron Xavier didn’t want to gamble on the outcome.

The middle-aged Alpha raised an eyebrow. He naturally understood the meaning behind Aaron Xavier’s words. Was this an attempt to pressure him?

After all, the family backgrounds of these few Alphas were anything but ordinary.

"Relax," he said. "For now, just get some rest."

He didn’t mention that they seemed a bit on edge. Instead, he rose, patted them both on the shoulder, and walked out of the room.

Another Alpha Officer opened the door. "Come on. Your freedom isn’t restricted yet. What are you still sitting around for?"

Aaron Xavier and Miles Sherman stood up. Miles glanced at the time and asked, "Hasn’t Zoe Pierce woken up yet?"
