Chapter 1999: Chapter 481: Life and Death, Reaping What You Sow (Part 2)

The hall was brightly lit.

The hall was crowded with people, all once key figures within the Mafia. With the death of Parker and Riche, these people had no choice but to bow to the new young master, or else the flying knife in the hand of that extraordinarily skilled woman was not to be trifled with; the bodies piled at the door were those who attempted to resist and were instantly killed.

These people dared not act rashly anymore.

And where was their new master? Nestled in the arms of a young boy, sound asleep. A child naturally couldn’t make them willingly submit, but a glance at the man seated in the center of the sofa caught their attention. Dressed in a pure white robe, like frost, with long legs crossed over the other, even a casual posture exuded endless nobility, luxurious laziness, and an imposing aura.

The man had his eyes lowered, playing idly with a dagger in his slender fingers, appearing both lazy and indifferent.

As the dagger spun at the man’s fingertips, the crowd’s hearts rose and fell along with the dagger.

Even on the fierce and violent Arturo, they never felt this intense sensation; yet this seemingly young man made them unconsciously afraid.

The vast living room was so quiet that a pin drop could be heard. As the silence stretched longer, the fear in everyone’s hearts snowballed, with many already breaking out in a cold sweat on their foreheads.

"Where is Gavin?" the man asked in a deep voice.

The crowd hesitated briefly, but a wiry man among them stepped forward and said, "After Arturo’s death, Parker ordered him to be locked up. If you wish to see him, I can bring him over now."

Gavin was Arturo’s most trusted confidant, his right-hand man. If Arturo had any secrets, no one else would know, but Gavin definitely would.

Gavin was quickly brought over, a man in his forties or fifties, thin and dark-skinned, blending into the crowd with little presence, except for those eyes, gleaming with restrained light.

Yun Miao waved his hand, and soon the crowd dispersed like a tide, leaving only Yun Miao, Yue Yi’an, and the still asleep Yue Songlan in the vast living room, along with the thin old man standing alone in the center.

"Do you recognize this?" Yun Miao threw something to Gavin’s feet. As Gavin saw the object rolling to his feet, his pupils shrank suddenly, yet he shook his head impassively, "I don’t recognize it."

"I know you’re a smart man. If you want to live, tell us everything you know, or else..." The man’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Gavin glanced at the man, "What do you want to do?"

The man chuckled lightly, "What I want to do, you’re not qualified to know yet."

Such arrogant words.

Gavin pondered for a moment, bent down to pick up the object, held it in his hand, and said solemnly, "This is the Black Hawk Order, of which there are eight. They are distributed among eight individuals, each a person of great importance in the current age. This Black Hawk Order belonged to Arturo."

The man’s eyes narrowed further, a cold gleam flashing across them.

"The Black Hawk Order?"

Gavin laughed, "Do you still remember Erlang?"

Yun Miao frowned slightly, having little knowledge of this world and utterly unfamiliar with this name, but this person must be connected to this token and the forces behind Queen.

Yue Yi’an exclaimed in shock, "Erlang, the war enthusiast of the last century who sparked a world war, the public enemy of all peace-loving people worldwide, his infamy will last forever."

"But do you know how he died?"

Yue Yi’an said in confusion, "The books say he died of a virus infection during the last major offensive, but his body was never found, and it’s still a mystery to this day."

Gavin glanced at the frowning, contemplative man and laughed, "Exactly, he almost succeeded, but at that moment, he suddenly contracted a virus, his condition worsened, forcing him to halt the attack, but was quickly countered by the Allied forces, suffering continuous defeats, retreating to a deserted island north of the Atlantic Ocean, from which he and his army vanished from this world, as did the vast wealth he plundered, never to be found again by future generations despite their efforts."

"But what does this have to do with the Black Hawk Order?" Yue Yi’an asked in confusion.

"Erlang didn’t die, he fled to the deserted island, where he hid his identity and used his army and wealth to establish a secret organization. This organization’s claws reach into various countries and organizations, secretly planning to restart a global war, even aiming to unify the world and become its ruler."
