Chapter 375: Miserable.

Vanessa.

I truly hadn’t expected the Lycan Prince to personally invite Anabel here.

The thought alone still baffled me.

What exactly was going on inside that small head of his?

Of all the people he could have chosen to extend his protection to, why her?

The more I thought about it, the less sense it mad, and it irritated me far more than I cared to admit.

Still...No matter how much protection she enjoyed under the Lycan Prince’s name, it didn’t change what I needed from her.

Anabel was still useful—far too useful to discard.

She was the perfect vessel for the plan forming inside my head.

And I wasn’t about to let such an opportunity slip through my fingers simply because she had gained powerful backing.

As she turned around and started walking toward the door, I realized this was my only chance.

If I allowed her to leave now, convincing her later would become far more difficult.

I slowly swallowed my pride.

Every instinct inside me screamed against lowering myself before someone like Anabel.

But I had no choice, and hatred could wait, as for now, I needed cooperation.

"Anabel... wait!" I called out loudly.

The words left my mouth almost immediately, as my voice echoed through the room, causing her footsteps to come to a halt.

Without wasting another second, I took a slow step toward her. It wasn’t too close, but it was just enough for her to understand that I was serious about what I intended to say.

She turned to face me again, and I met her eyes without hesitation.

I said exactly what I had intended to say.

However...her question caught me slightly off guard.

For a brief moment, I found myself at a loss for words.

Yet at the same time, it gave me something even better. It laid the perfect foundation for what I wanted to say next.

"We have a common enemy." I said firmly.

The words left my mouth with complete confidence and the instant I said them, Anabel’s eyes remained fixed on mine.

She didn’t interrupt me, not did she scoff this time. She simply stared at me without breaking eye contact.

Her silence told me more than words ever could.

I knew immediately that my statement had reached her, and It had made her think.

Taking that silence as permission to continue, I slowly drew another breath.

"Let’s work together to get rid of Maria," I added confidently, my voice remaining calm, steady, and convincing. "In that way..." I paused briefly before finishing my thought. "We can both reclaim what rightfully belongs to us."

The words lingered between us.

After speaking, I fell silent, as I simply waited patiently, watching her every expression while anticipating her response.

There was no way she would reject such an offer.

After all...Maria was the thorn standing in both our paths—the seductress who had turned everything upside down.

Surely Anabel could see that just as clearly as I did.

Anabel suddenly burst into laughter.

The unexpected sound caught me completely off guard. For a brief moment, I simply stood there, staring at her in confusion.

Why exactly was she laughing?

What was so amusing about what I had just suggested?

There was nothing funny about my proposal.

If anything, it was beneficial to both of us.

The more I listened to her laughter, the deeper my frown became.

My brows slowly lifted as I continued staring at her, silently trying to understand what was going through her mind.

"What exactly are you laughing about?" I finally asked, unable to hide the impatience creeping into my voice.

My tone had become noticeably sharper than before, every word laced with irritation.

The longer she laughed, the more it grated on my nerves.

Anabel, however, merely let out another quiet chuckle before slowly shaking her head from side to side.

Her reaction only fueled my annoyance.

"Nothing really, Vanessa," she replied casually, as though we were having the most ordinary conversation.

Another soft laugh escaped her lips, making my jaw tighten.

"I really can’t believe you still think of me as a fool."

The amusement on her face remained, while my own expression hardened almost instantly.

Every trace of confusion disappeared from my face, replaced by pure annoyance.

"And what do you mean by that?" I asked immediately.

I narrowed my eyes suspiciously, studying every inch of her face in search of an explanation.

I refused to look away.

If she was trying to provoke me again, I wanted to know exactly how far she intended to go.

"You’re a snitch, Vanessa," Anabel answered without the slightest hesitation.

There wasn’t even a brief pause for consideration. The accusation rolled off her tongue so naturally that it almost sounded like an undeniable fact.

Her voice remained calm throughout, as she didn’t need to raise it.

The contempt dripping from every single word was already more than enough.

"How exactly did you expect me to trust you?" she asked, as she tilted her head slightly as she spoke, her eyes never leaving mine. "Or believe every word that comes out of your mouth?"

She paused for a brief moment before continuing, allowing her previous words to settle heavily between us.

"Or believe every single word that comes out of your mouth?"

Her voice remained calm, but every syllable carried an unmistakable edge of contempt.

As she spoke, she slowly took a step backward, deliberately increasing the distance between us.

Even so, her eyes never once left mine.

She continued staring at me with unwavering confidence, almost as though she was daring me to deny her accusation.

"I..."

The word escaped my lips almost instinctively.

I immediately opened my mouth, intending to defend myself, to explain, to argue and to say something—anything—that would make her reconsider.

But nothing came out.

The words that had rushed to the tip of my tongue suddenly disappeared before they could be spoken.

I stood there in complete silence, unable to find a single response.

"Now listen to me carefully, Vanessa," Anabel said firmly.

The amusement that had lingered on her face moments ago was gone. In its place was a hardened expression that left absolutely no room for misunderstanding.

Her gaze remained fixed on me as she spoke.

"We don’t have a common enemy." She deliberately paused after those words, letting the silence stretch between us before delivering the final statement. "Because..." She continued, before another brief pause followed. "You are my enemy."

The disgust in her voice was impossible to miss.

Every syllable landed like a slap across my face.

My hands instinctively curled into tight fists. I clenched them so hard that my nails painfully dug into my palms, and the irritation burning inside me grew stronger with every passing second.

"Just like I said before, Vanessa..." Anabel said, as a cold, almost triumphant smile slowly spread across her face as she spoke.

There wasn’t the slightest trace of hesitation in her expression. Instead, she looked at me with absolute certainty, as though she had already decided exactly what she intended to do.

"Prepare to live in hell." she added.

Her icy gaze never wavered from mine for even a single second.

She held my eyes steadily, making sure every one of her words sank deep into my mind.

"For I will make your life miserable."

Each word was spoken slowly and clearly, carrying a quiet confidence that irritated me even more.

When she finally finished speaking, she didn’t wait around for my response.

It was as though my opinion no longer mattered to her.

Without the slightest hesitation, she simply turned around, carrying herself with an air of confidence that only fueled my anger.

She acted as though I was no longer worth even another second of her attention.

Not once did she bother to spare me a final glance over her shoulder.

Instead, she calmly made her way toward the door with slow, unhurried steps.

Her posture remained completely relaxed, almost as though she believed she had emerged victorious from our exchange.

A moment later, she stepped outside.

The door slowly swung shut behind her.

Click.

The faint sound echoed through the room before everything became completely silent.

For one brief second, nothing moved and nothing could be heard.

"Arrrrghhhhh!"

A deafening scream of pure frustration ripped violently out of my throat, shattering the heavy silence that had settled over the room.

The sound echoed off every wall before gradually fading away.

My chest rose and fell rapidly with every furious breath I took as anger completely consumed every part of me.

"Bitch..." I muttered beneath my breath, as the insult escaped through tightly gritted teeth, each word dripping with hatred. "I’ll make you regret every single word you said."

My hands curled tightly into fists once again until my nails dug painfully into my palms.

The sting barely registered.

The only thing I could feel at that moment was the fury burning uncontrollably inside me, refusing to die down no matter how many deep breaths I took.
