Chapter 358: His Mistress.

Aidan.

"You seem to have forgotten that this isn’t your territory." Galen’s voice was filled with confidence as she stared directly at Adrien.

She stared at him not just with confidence but disgust. The look in her eyes made it abundantly clear what she thought of us. It was the kind of look someone gave to people they considered beneath them.

The kind of look that instantly set my blood boiling.

"Are you out of your mind, Galen?" The words left my mouth before I could stop them.

I stepped forward slightly, unable to tolerate the insult she was so openly throwing at us.

"Don’t you have any respect for the Lycan Prince?" I asked, as my voice rang firmly through the hall.

Everyone immediately fell silent and even Galen’s expression shifted slightly, as her brows furrowed in confusion.

"What are you talking about?" her expression seemed to ask.

And I didn’t give her the chance to interrupt. "We are his guests at the moment," I continued, every word deliberate and carefully emphasized. "What you’re doing right now will only tarnish his image."

The atmosphere instantly became heavier.

"You are openly disrespecting people under his name." I shook my head slowly. "Would you be able to face his wrath then?"

The question lingered in the air.

For a brief moment, I expected at least a flicker of hesitation—some doubt or concern but instead, Galen scoffed.

The arrogance of it nearly made me laugh.

"I’m very sure the Lycan Prince would support my actions."

The certainty in her voice was almost unbelievable, as she didn’t even pause before answering nor did she second-guess herself.

As though she already knew exactly what the Lycan Prince would think.

I chuckled, the sound low and cold while filled with irritation. "You seem very sure." I added, as I tilted my head slightly while studying her expression, as the confidence on her face only irritated me further. "Tell me something, Galen." I said, my voice remaining calm. "Are you his mistress?" I paused. "Or perhaps his kept woman?"

The words landed exactly as intended.

Galen froze.

For a split second, complete disbelief flashed across her face and then came the pure explosive anger.

"How dare you call me that!" she asked, as her voice rose sharply.

The fury in her eyes was impossible to miss, as she took a step toward me. The calm mask she’d been wearing shattered completely.

I simply stared back.

The next thing I knew, she raised her hand, the intention was obvious....she was going to slap me.

The audacity alone was enough to make me laugh.

Her hand barely made it halfway before I caught her wrist, the movement was quick and effortless, as her eyes widened instantly.

Before she could react, I shoved her away, not hard enough to seriously hurt her but just enough to create distance.

Galen stumbled backward, and a gasp swept through the room before she hit the floor.

The shock on her face was almost comical.

For a moment, nobody moved and nobody spoke.

Daniel stepped forward, and his movement was immediate and aggressive. Within seconds, his hand grabbed the front of my collar and the fabric tightened around my neck.

His face was twisted with fury and his jaw clenched so tightly that the muscles visibly flexed.

"How dare you hit her?" He asked, as the rage in his voice echoed through the hall while his grip tightened further and his eyes burned with anger as he glared directly at me.

"You claim you can never marry her," I said calmly, despite the tension filling the hall, I kept my voice steady. "But your actions say otherwise."

A smirk slowly formed on my lips as I stared directly into Daniel’s eyes.

His grip on my collar remained firm, but I didn’t look away and instead, I held his gaze deliberately while studying him and analyzing every reaction.

"Tell me something." My smirk widened slightly. "Are you in love with her?"

The question hung heavily in the air, and for a brief moment, Daniel’s expression shifted, almost imperceptibly but I caught it.

"You—" Daniel started speaking, his jaw tightened and his eyes narrowed, yet the words seemed to get stuck in his throat.

He opened his mouth again, only to close it moments later.

The sight amused me more than it should have.

"That’s what I thought." I let out a short chuckle. "Someone as fickle-minded as you doesn’t deserve Maria." I added, as disgust dripped from every word while my gaze hardened. "You don’t even know what you want." I shook my head. "Honestly, I think Noah is an even better choice than you."

The words left my mouth before I could stop them and the effect was immediate.

Daniel’s entire expression darkened, and then suddenly he laughed...a mocking laughter filled with contempt.

"You pathetic loser." He said, as he continued laughing as though I had just told the greatest joke in existence. "You also admitted that you’re not a good match for her either."

His words struck harder than they should have, and my jaw clenched. The amusement vanished from my face immediately and anger surged through me.

Without thinking, I grabbed the front of his collar, and the fabric bunched tightly in my fist.

"I dare you to say that again!" I said, as my voice exploded through the hall.

I shook him roughly and Daniel immediately grabbed my collar tighter as well, as neither of us was willing to let go, and neither of us was willing to back down.

We stood there glaring at each other, and breathing heavily while we were both waiting for the other to make the next move.

"The both of you should stop!" Noah’s voice cut through the confrontation.

He stepped between us and immediately tried to separate us, his hands pushing against our shoulders while his expression was filled with frustration.

"Enough!" He added.

But neither Daniel nor I moved, as the anger between us had already reached its peak.

"Brother." Adrein called out, his voice sounding beside me. "Listen to Noah this time." He added, and a light tap landed on my shoulder.

The gesture was simple, yet somehow it managed to cut through my anger. I took a deep breath and my grip on Daniel’s collar loosened.

The tension in my muscles gradually eased and a second later, I released him completely.

Daniel did the same.

And then suddenly the sound of approaching footsteps echoed through the hall.

The noise instantly drew my attention and I turned toward the source of the sound.

I frowned instantly, as my anger was momentarily forgotten, while confusion immediately filled me.

My brows furrowed.

The approaching figure was still out of view.

Who was...?
