Chapter 355: Breakfast II.
Noah.
I couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling twisting inside my stomach.
The more I thought about it, the stranger everything seemed.
The Lycan Prince had personally invited us to have dinner with him.
Why?
What exactly was he trying to accomplish?
Nothing about this situation made sense.
The thought continued to nag at me as I watched the quadruplets get ready around the room.
They all looked surprisingly calm, as though there was absolutely nothing suspicious about the invitation.
Meanwhile, my instincts were screaming that something wasn’t right.
I folded my arms across my chest and frowned.
"Don’t you all find it strange?" I asked suddenly.
The room fell silent for a brief moment.
Damien glanced at me while adjusting his jacket. "Relax, Noah," he said confidently, his tone carrying the kind of certainty that only made me more frustrated. "The Lycan Prince would certainly not poison us."
I opened my mouth to argue, but he continued before I could speak.
"If he wanted to kill us, he could have done so already rather than bringing us here." He shrugged casually as though the matter was completely obvious. "Think about it."
I sighed heavily.
That wasn’t the point. The fact that he wasn’t planning to poison us didn’t automatically mean he wasn’t planning something else.
Before I could respond, Aidan chuckled.
"Get dressed, Noah," he said mockingly.
I shot him an annoyed look.
"This is not the time to be a detective."
The others snickered.
I rolled my eyes.
Trust Aidan to make jokes when I was trying to have a serious conversation.
"Exactly," Adrien added as he straightened the sleeves of his shirt and then he glanced at me before shaking his head. "You might have made a great plan yesterday, but if you don’t hurry up and get dressed now, you’ll foil your own plan yourself."
He rolled his eyes dramatically.
The comment earned a few nods from the others.
I stared at them in disbelief.
How could they all be so unconcerned?
"I..." I ran a hand through my hair in frustration. "Why don’t you get my point?"
None of them answered.
And that only irritated me further, that I began pacing around the room. The nervous energy inside me refused to settle.
"I am actually having a bad feeling," I admitted, my voice becoming more serious now and the joking expression slowly faded from a few of their faces. "Like things are about to go wrong."
The words hung heavily in the air.
I wasn’t saying it to be dramatic.
I genuinely felt it.
Something was off.
I couldn’t explain it.
I couldn’t prove it.
But every instinct I had was warning me that tonight wasn’t going to be as simple as everyone thought.
Unfortunately, nobody seemed interested in listening.
"Keep your feelings to yourself, Noah," Davain said sharply, his voice carrying clear irritation.
I stopped pacing and looked at him.
"Our main focus is rescuing Maria," he added, his eyes locking onto mine. "Not feeding your paranoia."
I clenched my jaw.
Davain wasn’t finished. "Now get dressed and let’s leave this room." He added, his tone leaving little room for argument.
The others nodded in agreement.
As far as they were concerned, the mission remained the same.
Rescue Maria.
Everything else was irrelevant.
I looked from one brother to another, and not a single one of them appeared worried. Not a single one of them seemed to share my concerns.
A frustrated sigh escaped my lips.
"Fine," I said sharply, throwing my hands up in frustration. "Since none of you is ready to listen to me, then there is no need talking!"
The words came out harsher than I intended, but at that point, I didn’t care. There was no point trying to convince them anymore.
Every concern I raised was dismissed and every warning I gave was treated like some ridiculous conspiracy.
If they wanted to walk blindly into whatever the Lycan Prince had planned, then so be it.
Without waiting for anyone to respond, I turned on my heel and headed straight for the bathroom.
The moment the door closed behind me, I gripped the edge of the sink and stared at my reflection.
Something wasn’t right.
I couldn’t explain it, nor could I even put it into words but ever since I woke up, an uneasy feeling had settled deep inside my chest.
My heart ached strangely, not physically but It was more like a persistent sense of dread, like an invisible hand was squeezing at my chest and like my instincts were desperately trying to warn me about something.
Something that was about to go terribly wrong.
I splashed cold water across my face.
The icy droplets slid down my skin, but they did nothing to ease the tension building inside me.
I stared at my reflection again.
"You are overthinking," I muttered to myself.
But even I didn’t believe those words.
Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to continue getting ready. The sooner this breakfast was over, the better.
I quickly freshened up and got dressed and a few minutes later, I stepped out of the bathroom.
The quadruplets were already waiting.
I suppressed another sigh.
"Let’s go," someone said.
Without another word, we left the room and headed straight for the dining hall.
The corridors were already bustling with activity.
As we walked through the palace, guards stationed along the hallways immediately lowered their heads in respect.
Several omegas did the same.
Some stepped aside completely to clear the path for us while others avoided eye contact altogether.
The atmosphere felt strangely formal and almost suffocating.
The further we walked, the heavier the feeling in my chest became.
My eyes continuously scanned our surroundings. I wasn’t even sure what I was looking for anymore.
Eventually, we reached the dining hall, and the large doors stood open.
I inhaled deeply before stepping inside alongside the others. The moment I entered, my gaze swept across the room.
Then I froze.
My eyes immediately landed on two familiar figures.
Daniel.
And Galen.
They were both already there and the sight of them made something snap inside me.
My head sparked with instant fury.
All the frustration I had been holding back came rushing to the surface.
How dare she?
How dare she sit there as if nothing had happened?
My jaw tightened and without thinking, I took a step forward.
"Galen," I said coldly. "How dare you have the nerve to show your face to us?"
My voice echoed through the dining hall, as every ounce of anger I felt poured into those words.
I stared at her furiously, while my hands clenched into fists at my sides.
Before Galen could even open her mouth, Daniel shot to his feet.
"Don’t you dare yell at her!" he snapped instantly, as fury blazed in his eyes.
The protective way he looked at Galen only made me angrier.
I turned toward him sharply.
"I am not talking to you," I yelled and the force of my voice seemed to shake the room. "So shut up!"
The words rang through the dining hall and then a heavy tense silence followed.
The entire room seemed to freeze as everyone watched the confrontation unfold.
