Chapter 350: ...can wait!
NOAH.
I had actually thought I was dead.
After everything that had happened, after the pain, the darkness, and the complete loss of awareness, I genuinely believed my life had finally come to an end.
For a while, there was nothing—no sound, no light, no sensation just endless darkness.
But then pain shot violently through my head. A sharp, crushing pain that felt as though someone had driven a blade straight through my skull.
A groan escaped my lips.
The agony was enough to drag me back to reality and that was when I realized something.
I was still alive.
The realization settled slowly into my mind but the moment I accepted the truth, only one person came to mind.
Maria.
My heart immediately tightened.
Was she okay?
The thought struck me with such force that every other concern vanished instantly.
I didn’t care about my injuries, I didn’t care about where I was, I didn’t even care about how much pain I was in...I just needed to know if Maria was safe.
I immediately tried to sit upright, but m muscles screamed in protest. Pain exploded throughout my body, but I ignored it.
I pushed myself harder, trying to get out of bed, trying to stand and trying to leave but before I could move very far, a pair of strong hands forced me back down, firmly and without mercy.
I frowned and looked up.
My vision was still blurry, as shapes shifted before my eyes and eerything seemed distorted.
But after a few seconds, my sight slowly cleared and the first face I saw was Adrien’s.
He looked furious, and his eyes were narrowed dangerously as he glared down at me.
"Where the hell do you think you’re going?" he demanded.
His grip tightened slightly on my shoulders, making it clear that I wasn’t moving anywhere.
I opened my mouth to answer but no words came out, as my throat felt dry and my tongue felt heavy.
Even speaking suddenly seemed difficult.
It was as though my body had forgotten how.
I frowned.
It must have been because I had been unconscious for too long.
"Ungrateful brat..." Damien snapped from somewhere nearby, his voice carrying obvious irritation. "You better lay still and don’t let our efforts go to waste!"
He raised his voice slightly toward the end.
I almost rolled my eyes, but even that felt like too much work as every part of my body hurt and ached.
Ignoring Damien completely, I focused on what mattered.
Taking a slow breath, I forced my mouth to cooperate.
"Where are we?" I finally managed to ask.
The words came out rough and strained.
The moment I spoke, I noticed my mouth felt a little less numb.
At least I could talk now.
"Where else were you headed to?" Aidan asked.
The look he gave me was both irritating and judgmental. His expression practically screamed disapproval.
Normally, I would have reacted, as normally, his attitude would have annoyed me but not today, became I genuinely didn’t care.
I didn’t have the energy.
More importantly, I didn’t have the time.
Because while everyone else seemed focused on my condition, only one thought occupied my mind.
Maria.
"Have any of you seen Maria?" I asked immediately, my gaze moving from one face to another.
My eyes searched each of them desperately, hoping someone would give me an answer that would ease the growing anxiety inside my chest.
But the silence that followed only made my uneasiness worse.
Every passing second felt heavier than the last.
"We haven’t seen her actually," Damien said calmly.
His response caused my heart to sink.
For some reason, hearing those words made the room suddenly feel colder.
Damien remained quiet for a moment before speaking again.
"And I can’t help but feel something terrible is about to happen."
The seriousness in his voice immediately caught my attentio, as there was no sarcasm, no irritation and no mockery.
Just genuine concern.
And strangely enough, I felt the same way.
Ever since I had regained consciousness, an unsettling feeling had been sitting heavily inside my chest.
A feeling I couldn’t explain.
A feeling that something was wrong.
It was the kind of feeling that made it difficult to breathe properly. The kind that refused to go away no matter how much logic you tried to apply.
But I chose not to voice it out....I couldn’t.
Somehow, speaking those fears aloud felt dangerous, as though saying them would make them real.
As though the moment I acknowledged them, whatever disaster I feared would immediately happen.
So I kept quiet.
Trying desperately to ignore the dread building inside me.
"He said there is going to be a wedding soon." Davian said, as his voice suddenly broke the silence.
He had been quiet the entire tim, listening, observing and probably thinking.
My eyes widened in disbelief.
A wedding?
For a moment, I genuinely thought I had heard him wrong.
How could that even be possible?
The very idea sounded absurd, becaus everyone knew the Lycan Prince’s reputation, everyone knew his personality.
He barely tolerated people, especially women. His cruelty alone was enough to keep most people far away from him.
He wasn’t known for love nor was he known for romance.
And he certainly wasn’t known for marriage.
So how could there suddenly be a wedding?
The thought made my stomach tighten.
Immediately, Maria’s face flashed through my mind and my pulse quickened.
"We need to get Maria out of here," I said at once.
The urgency in my voice was impossible to hide because from the letter and from everything Sonia had confessed, one thing was painfully clear—the Lycan Prince needed Maria for something.
And the thought alone terrified me.
Because whatever his reason was, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it could be very dangerous.
"We know that." The quadruplets answered in unison.
Their voices carried obvious irritation as they stared directly at me Their expressions made it clear that they didn’t appreciate being told something they already knew.
I took a slow breath.
Under normal circumstances, I would have responded and I would have argued but this wasn’t about pride, and this certainly wasn’t about old grudges nor was it about about who Maria chose.
This was about her safety.
And right now, that mattered more than anything else.
"Look," I began carefully. My voice softened slightly. "We all need to put aside our differences and take Maria out of here."
My eyes moved across each of their faces.
One after another.
"Whatever issues we have can wait." I clenched my jaw. "For now, the only thing that matters is making sure Maria is safe."
