Chapter 487: Chapter 480: You’re Overthinking It, I Really Do Mind
Seth Quinn’s gaze pulled back from the doorway. The tenderness from when he was watching Clara Grant’s retreating figure had vanished completely. Lying on the bed, he shot a sideways glance at Autumn Shelby, a hint of mockery in his eyes.
"You think I rejected you just now because of Clara? I can only say you’re overthinking things. I really do mind."
With that, he didn’t spare her another glance and said to Sienna Hale, "Mom, you can go home. Mrs. Cheney is here."
Sienna Hale nodded. She looked at Autumn Shelby, who was standing there biting her lower lip, obviously resentful, and said, "Autumn, come back with me."
As she spoke, she gave Mrs. Cheney a few instructions to take good care of her son, then turned and walked out of the room.
Autumn Shelby watched her back, her eyes clouding with annoyance, but she ultimately followed her out.
Sienna Hale was walking rather quickly. Autumn Shelby hurried to catch up, calling out, "Auntie," but Sienna Hale paid her no mind and kept walking.
She didn’t stop until she reached the elevators, but still ignored Autumn Shelby who had caught up.
Not until the elevator reached the first floor, and she had exited and walked all the way to the hospital’s main entrance, did she finally stop. As her driver saw her and ran to get the car, she turned to look at Autumn Shelby beside her.
"Auntie, you were... walking so quickly today." Seeing Sienna looking at her, Autumn Shelby forced an unnatural smile.
Sienna Hale stared at her for a moment, her gaze so intense that it made Autumn Shelby’s skin crawl. Autumn forced her lips into a smile. "Auntie, is... is something wrong?"
"Autumn, I’m going to ask you something, and I need you to tell me the truth." Sienna Hale sighed inwardly. ’I really hope she wasn’t the one who sent that text to Clara Grant, but... who else could it have been?’
"What is it?" Autumn Shelby asked cautiously. She frowned in thought, and it suddenly occurred to her: the photo she had sent to Clara Grant.
Autumn Shelby’s heart clenched. ’Could it be... does she know?’
"Did you send that text to Clara Grant? The last time you visited my home, you said you wanted to see a picture of Cherie, so I showed you our family photo. You secretly took a picture of it and sent it to her, didn’t you?" Sienna Hale stared intently at Autumn Shelby, searching her face for any telltale sign.
She had expected a denial, but to her surprise, Autumn Shelby admitted it as soon as the question was out. "Yes. I’m the one who secretly took the picture and sent it to her."
Sienna Hale frowned, her heart aching. "It really was you? Didn’t you promise me you wouldn’t do anything? You... why would you do such a thing? You’ve always been such a sweet, sensible girl. You’ve never been two-faced with me like this before!"
Sienna Hale grew agitated. To think she had trusted and felt so sorry for her, only to be used.
After a pause, she continued, "Are you trying to break her and Seth up? Didn’t you tell me you’d given up hope of getting back together with him? Didn’t you say that since Seth found his happiness, you would wish him well? Was that all a lie?"
Even though she herself hoped Seth would get back together with Autumn, Seth was against it, Theodore was against it, Miles was against it, and even Jenna and Cherie were against it.
It was precisely because it was impossible for Seth to divorce Clara Grant for Autumn that she felt so sorry for the girl. Even when Theodore Quinn forbade her from seeing Autumn, she would secretly keep in touch.
But now, to think that Autumn had deceived her and used her... of course her heart ached!
In contrast to Sienna’s agitation, Autumn Shelby seemed perfectly calm. "No, Auntie. I didn’t do it to break them up."
