Chapter 124: KICKING ASS
But, her father urged her to leave. Mated with alpha Logan was better than having her here. She was past the age of the union and the fact she was still alone was a bothersome fact for king Amidas.
"He was a former beta, father. He has no royal blood. It's an insult for me to lower my status to be his mate." Rose was not happy with this arrangement. She wanted to know whose idea was this.
"It will be more insulting if you are still mateless when you turned twenty two." King Amidas saw the hurt in Rose's eyes. His voice softened. "King Dacre and alpha Khaos is in crossfire. You can't be with the alpha, more so, he has been promised to someone else."
"Promise me to alpha Khaos instead, so the king can control him."
King Amidas kissed her forehead. "I know you are smart enough to know why king Dacre chose luna Zuri to be alpha Khaos's mate."
Of course, Rose knew about that. It was an indirect insult for Khaos to mate him with his own deceased brother's widow. The king wanted to weaken Khaos's influence and power within the kingdom.
Xaden's attempt to stage a coup had left him with trust issue and he became a little bit paranoid that Khaos would do the same thing.
Obviously, if Khaos was trying to stage a coup, Dacre would have done for. Therefore, as a prevention, he acted up and now the two of them were in crossfire.
"Father, if alpha Khaos wanted the throne, king Dacre will not stand a chance against him. The alpha has been his advisors for years, he knows all of the king's weaknesses."
"I know that, my child. That's why you need to be there and observe the situation." King Amidas's eyes glinted with malice. "No matter who will be the king, the queen should come from our kingdom." He cupped Rose's face. "You know what I meant, right?"
Rose pressed her lips. Her father was betting between the two sisters right now. "I will leave tomorrow."
And because of the snow, Rose would arrive at the capital city within three weeks. During these three weeks, Dacre had sent reinforcement for the warriors in the River Creek pack. This time the order was to take down the pack and drag alpha Khaos to the capital city for his punishment for insubordination and misconduct.
"We need to kill them all before the reinforcement is here, alpha. That's the only way for us to win this battle," Rhett reported the situation to Khaos, while Elijah explained to the alpha that they were going to lose valuable magic users if the reinforcement was here.
"Two hundred thousand warriors. The number is too much for my a hundred magic users to handle, alpha," Elijah said. "It will be too late to handle all of them if they already reunited."
Khaos stared at the distance, where you could see flickering lights of their bonfire in the vast clearing area, outside of the fortress.
"Keep your eyes on them until my further instruction," Khaos said and then turned around to leave them. He needed to check on Zuri's training with Gayle.
It had been three weeks and even though the progress was not significant, you could see she was a little bit better.
Rhett and Elijah looked at each other, obviously was not satisfied with the order, but Caiden followed Khaos back to the pack house.
[You are provoking them. What is your plan?] Caiden mindlinked Khaos instead, though they were out of their earshot, but the member of the cult and the warriors of the River Creek pack were still around them. [Elijah is right, they could get killed. It will be our lost too if we lost those magic users.]
[Let them get killed.]
[What do you mean? You want them to be killed?]
[We can't handle a hundred magic users, but we can deal with half of them.]
It took a while for Caiden to grasp the meaning behind what Khaos said. [You don't trust them.]
[Do I look like I trust them?]
"Great!" Caiden looked relief when he heard that. "I don't like them either! I feel something fishy about them."
Sure enough, if Caiden could feel it, obviously Khaos was able to sense it too. Both of them then walked toward the woods, where they saw Zuri and Gayle in the distance, arguing about something.
"A week from now, Bryden and my father will be here. We will have more information about the golden stamp." Caiden's eyes then fell on Zuri, who glared viciously at Gayle. "When the three lycan legacies are already in your hand, are you ready for it?"
Khaos fixed his eyes on Zuri and when she sensed his presence, she rushed toward him, huffing and puffing, clearly annoyed with Gayle.
Khaos didn't answer Caiden's question, as he leaned over to kiss Zuri, who wrapped her arms around his neck, pulled him down for a kiss. She needed this to appease her anger from whatever annoying thing Gayle said to her during the training.
"We will carry out your plan tomorrow." Khaos wiped blood from her forehead. Their training could be a little bit... harsh. "I need you to be ready tomorrow."
Zuri grinned. She loved it whenever Khaos listened to her. This was the idea that she proposed
to Khaos when she saw carriages of food supplies were being brought to this pack from the
ships.
"Okay," she smiled sweetly. "I am hungry."
"Let's eat together."
Caiden greeted Zuri. "Hay! You look great!"
"Next time, I should train with you!" Zuri suggested.
"Nah, I am good. It has been a while since my last training, my body is rather stiff." Caiden cracked his knuckles and neck, pretending to be tired. "Gayle is the best warrior, if you could kick his ass, I will not stand a chance."
"She did not kick my ass!" Gayle grumbled.
"Oh, yeah, I did. Thrice." Zuri smirked.
