Chapter 109: THE RUMOR AND THE KING'S PLOT

The next curse...

"Did she know what happened?" Khaos asked, he could see how Zuri became agitated because he talked with Rhett without including her, as if they were keeping a secret from her, which was true.

"No. Not really." Rhett waved at Zuri, but she was not happy with the gesture and ignored that. She became easily annoyed by little thing and Rhett must have felt the change of her personality. This was one of the side effects of the curse after all. "We sealed her memories about it."

Obviously, or else, Zuri wouldn't see Rhett with adoration and still think of him as her favorite brothers. She would have done something to avoid Rhett.

"I will take Zuri for three days. This time, we will try to put four curses at the same time." He contemplated it for a while. "Last time, she could take three curses. I think her tolerance is rather high right now."

Khaos's expression was hard to read. "That's risky." He commented about it briefly.

"Yes," Rhett agreed. "But, we can try." There was no amount of regret when he talked about inflicting curses on his little sister, as if this was the most normal conversation. "Let's see what we can do. You don't need to worry, alpha. I will make sure everything running smoothly. You can meet with the other devotee after we put the curses, with that, you will strengthen our belief to the old dynasty."

Rhett and the other devotee that he was talking about was not loyal to Khaos, but they were close enough to worship him.

"I will come with you to see the process," Khaos said. He looked at Zuri, who was being impatient and then approached them. "I will be there in the process."

Rhett looked surprised, he looked like he wanted to advise Khaos against the idea, but Zuri was already there and the conversation was cut short.

"What the two of you were talking about?" She furrowed her brows, was not happy because she was being left out. She became a little bit clingy now and Rhett noticed that too.

Zuri originally was very bright, she was independent and had a strong opinion.

Logically speaking, someone meek and spoiled wouldn't be able to bring glory to the pack behind the scene. However, right now Zuri was nothing, but looked like a puppy in Khaos's palm, she would follow him everywhere and demanded attention from him.

Going on without medicine for so long had completely messed up her mind and it changed her personality.

Rhett was rather sad to have his brilliant sister to become like this, but then their main goal was not to enrich the pack and develop Zuri's potential, his sister's fate was to help them to revive the old dynasty, which was more important than to build one pack.

"Nothing," Khaos said, he smiled at her and kissed her forehead to appease her and Rhett could see the way the alpha treated his sister gently and how Zuri's eyes lit up.

He wondered whether the alpha was being genuine with her or it was only an act.

In one of the scriptures, it was mentioned that the Shell would have a strong connection with the lycan, who took care of them, they would favor a lycan during the whole process, since after so many curses, they would be emotionally fragile.

The Shell usually would feel isolated because of the whole hallucination thing that they had to go through, more so, building an emotional connection with the lycan was important for the succeed of the beauty blood.

In that case, because Khaos was the last lycan, obviously, Zuri could only favor him.

This was also one of the reasons why Rhett immediately thought Khaos was the last lycan. Zuri had never acted this way with anyone else, not even when she was with Xaden. Yes. Rhett kept his eyes on her.

"Zuri, let's go on our trip together. It has been a long time we didn't do it, right?" Rhett immediately chimed in to lure her to follow him like usual.

Yet, Zuri shook her head. "No. I don't want to go." She frowned at her brother. "I want to stay here." She held Khaos's hand.

"Alpha Khaos will come with us too. Don't you want to go?"

Zuri blinked her eyes and then lifted her head to look at Khaos. "You are going to go too?"

"Yes." There was no hesitation when Khaos answered that and a beautiful smile bloomed on her face. She suddenly looked excited.

"Okay, let's go together!" Zuri was thrilled to have Khaos and Rhett on this journey. She was relief because the two of them got along really well, despite the fact that their first meeting didn't go really well.

And the next day, they prepared to leave the pack house incognito, Rhett didn't tell Zuri where they were going to go, which was not weird for her, since he used to surprise her.

However, the day when they left, the rumor about Khaos's greediness to take the reign of the River Creek pack started to become more and more heated. The nasty rumor spread like a wildfire and the king's hands were tied to help his brother.

From what the rumor said, the elders in the palace had been demanding for the king to take action for Khaos's brazen attitude. This could be addressed as an act of treason.

Therefore, when the king sent Silas with a hundred thousand warriors, people didn't have anything bad to say. They supported the king.

Khaos shouldn't have been so greedy to take rule over two packs, that was wrong and that was an act of treason. Khaos's name had been dragged through the mud with the fact he was going to have Zuri as his mate. She was the traitor alpha Xaden's mate!

The only thing that the people was afraid of was if a civil war broke out, since alpha Khaos was not an easy opponent.
