Chapter 519: Chapter 361: The Red Silver Dragon’s Compassion

The biting cold wind carried with it flurries of snow, transforming Dragon Valley into a silent world draped in silver.

The body of the Red Silver Dragon Deborah stood steady on the lookout tower of Burning Steel Castle, her scale armor reflecting a cold, beautiful light under the snow. The petite Elf Dragon Vera was also there, arrayed and listening attentively.

"Vera, listen carefully."

Deborah’s voice pierced through the wind and snow, carrying a hint of mischief, as she asked, "A dwarf walks into a waist-deep river and ends up drowning. Why is that?"

Elf Dragon Vera immediately halted her flight, suspended in mid-air.

She held her little chin with her claws, her brows knitted in deep thought.

A few moments later, her eyes lit up, and she performed an agile somersault in the air, crisply announcing the answer.

"I got it! Because he slipped and choked on the water! Or... the river had a big fish he disturbed, which angrily knocked him out!"

She was very pleased with her answer, flapping her wings triumphantly.

The Red Silver Dragon blinked, her dragon’s kiss slightly moving, correcting, "Vera, that’s two answers."

"It’s not fair to cheat; think carefully and give me the most fitting answer."

She held up one hooked toe, waving it in front of the Elf Dragon.

The Elf Dragon straightened her tiny chest immediately, putting on a serious face, and said, "One answer? No problem at all, the clever Vera can’t be stumped!"

She cleared her throat, and with perfect articulation said, "The dwarf was first knocked out cold by the furious big fish, and then he slipped at the bottom of the icy river, which is why he drowned!"

Finished, she nodded with satisfaction, as if the answer was flawless.

But, how was this different from earlier?

The Red Silver Dragon rolled her eyes but, seeing Vera’s expression, did not reproach her, just sighed lightly; she had grown accustomed to the little Elf Dragon’s elusive train of thought.

"Am I right? Deborah, am I right?"

Vera asked eagerly, nearly pressing up against the Red Silver Dragon’s nose.

Deborah shook her head slowly, "No, Vera, the reason is simple—"

She paused, seeing the Elf Dragon perked up, before revealing the answer.

"Because naturally short dwarves, their height doesn’t reach others’ waists, waist-deep water is already enough to cover their heads."

The Elf Dragon suddenly realized, patting her little head, "Oh——! So that’s it! The dwarf was too short!"

She let out a crisp exclamation, providing Deborah with considerable emotional satisfaction.

Deborah was very pleased with the Elf Dragon’s reaction, which made her tail swing gently with joy, weaving a graceful arc through the air.

"Now it’s your turn to ask a question."

She said.

Elf Dragon Vera did not immediately speak.

It seemed as if her little mind was engaged in an intense computation, after contemplating for a few seconds, she tossed out a seemingly simple question.

"Giants, everybody knows, they are many, many times larger than ordinary humans, right? So, Deborah, if in the world, there exists a creature called a Giant Dwarf..."

She dragged out her tone, her eyes shimmering with a mischievous light, and asked:

"Do you think it would be bigger or smaller than an ordinary person?"

Deborah nodded without hesitation, "Of course, a Giant Dwarf would definitely be much larger than an ordinary human."

As soon as the words left her mouth, the Red Silver Dragon’s heart sank sharply.

She had answered too quickly, now something felt off.

"Aha! You made a mistake, Deborah! You made a mistake this time!"

Just as she finished speaking, Elf Dragon Vera, as if seizing a rare opportunity, spun around excitedly, letting out bell-like laughter, eagerly proclaiming her victory.

Such mistakes from the Red Silver Dragon Deborah were truly few and far between.

In the various riddles and mind games with Vera, the Elf Dragon was most often the perennial loser.

However, though Vera fought and lost repeatedly, she never tired of it, each small victory enough to make her cheer with joy.

Fearing Deborah might have room to regret or correct, the Elf Dragon immediately rattled off the answer like a string of firecrackers.

"Giant Dwarf, it is called ’Giant Dwarf’!"

"The focus is on the word ’Dwarf’! He would only be even shorter than an ordinary dwarf!"

Finished, she brazenly extended her little claw towards the Red Silver Dragon, gestured with her finger, her face beaming with the joy of victory.

"Vera, not bad, this question was very confusing, you’ve improved quite a bit."

Deborah praised.

She extended her claw, rubbing out a gleaming gold coin from the scales on her neck, then tossed it into Vera’s happily outstretched little claw.

This was the rule of their game.

When Deborah won, Vera didn’t need to pay; when Vera won, she would receive a shiny gold coin.

"Gold coin! Shiny gold coin!"

Vera, clutching the precious, heavy, shiny treasure, let out a series of jubilant shrieks, flying circles swiftly around the enormous form of the Red Silver Dragon.

This was her way of expressing joy.

A moment later, she carefully hid the gold coin in a secret loft in Burning Steel Castle that belonged to her.

Soon she spiritedly flew back to the lookout, hands on her hips, and made a declaration full of ambition to Deborah:

"Deborah! Just you wait! I’m going to win all your wealth, coin by coin! King Vera’s treasure vault is going to rise!"
