Chapter 498: Chapter 356: Father, I’m Here to Kill You!
Sel Wilderness, Celestial Pit Territory.
In the sky above, a massive shadow tore through the expanse, with the blood-red scale armor reflecting a chilling sheen.
"My dear Letitia, my treasure, are you unwilling to come out to greet my arrival?"
Red Dragon Gorsas circled high above, each beat of his wings stirring up gusts of wind.
He lifted his head and let out a thunderous roar, a deep and oppressive dragon’s cry reverberating through the air. Then, he suddenly folded his wings, diving swiftly from the sky, unleashing an overwhelming Long Wei.
Accompanied by a deafening boom, he crashed onto the ground, sending up clouds of dust and leaving a bottomless pit in his wake.
As the dust settled slowly, it revealed the fierce and majestic figure of the red dragon.
He shook his head, his fiery red eyes gleaming with a dangerous light.
Almost simultaneously, a dragon shadow shot out from the largest nest.
Iron Dragon Letitia stopped in front of the red dragon, her muscles tightened with high alertness, her Dragon Eyes full of vigilance.
She demanded, "Gorsas, what are you doing here suddenly, leaving your own territory? What’s your purpose?"
The red dragon flicked his tail, looking around nonchalantly as if merely strolling.
"Relax, Letitia."
"I just want to catch up with you, why so tense? Could I possibly hurt you? Impossible."
His tone was flippant, yet his burning Dragon Eyes continuously searched for something.
Suddenly, his gaze swept around, his tone changing.
"I remember this Celestial Pit Territory once being barren, scorched ground everywhere, with the searing breath of meteors’ fall lingering, even the hardiest thorny grass struggling to survive."
His gaze passed over the lush vegetation now present, continuing, "Yet now, it’s become so vibrant and verdant. It seems indeed, Letitia, you put in endless effort."
"I must admit, this soft green, though not to my taste, does have its unique charm."
Red Dragon Gorsas flicked his thick tail with interest, saying, "Why not show me around? I don’t think I’ve ever truly appreciated the scenery of this territory."
Hearing this, Letitia’s gaze flickered slightly, already suspecting Gorsas’s true motive.
Her claws involuntarily tightened, embedding into the rock beneath her.
The plan Solrog proposed about luring Red Dragon Gorsas with news of the Madfire seemed fruitful, having drawn in their target.
Evidently, even mere rumors wouldn’t be overlooked by Gorsas, with his obsession and regard for Madfire, he’d have to investigate personally regardless of truth.
Moreover, the Madfire originally appeared when the meteor fell around here.
Even if not fully collected back then, some remnants could remain.
This reason was sufficient.
"Gorsas, there’s no need to beat around the bush."
Letitia sneered, directly exposing the red dragon’s true intentions: "You’re here for the Madfire, aren’t you."
The red dragon was initially stunned, then burst into loud laughter that rustled the surrounding leaves: "You truly understand me! To this world, you’re always the one who knows me best, Letitia."
He stopped laughing, asking, "So, my dear Letitia."
"Have you seen any trace of the Madfire? Even just a hint?"
The red dragon Gorsas seemed emotionally steady at the moment, without showing clear malice.
He even maintained a friendly demeanor, which only made Letitia more wary.
Letitia knew his nature was capricious and unpredictable, this surface calm likely a facade before the storm.
Should he not get a satisfactory answer, this mad dragon might erupt at any time.
The immediate task was to stabilize him without letting on anything unusual.
The Iron Dragon’s thoughts raced, silently calling her descendants and offspring while displaying open disdain, scolding, "Look at yourself now, Gorsas! Madfire has nearly driven you insane, turning you into a beast acting on mere instinct, with no trace of wisdom left!"
"What’s left in your eyes besides the raging flames?"
She stepped forward, her voice carrying restrained anger: "Even so, you still seek more Madfire? You’re hopeless, utterly foolish! Must you let those flames consume you completely to be satisfied?"
This reaction risked provoking the red dragon, but it was Letitia’s true behavior.
Being too meek and compliant might actually arouse the red dragon’s suspicions.
Facing such blunt and disdainful reprimands, the red dragon’s face instantly darkened.
His Dragon Eyes glinted dangerously, the surrounding air heated by his anger.
However, as if realizing something suddenly, his violent expression gradually faded, returning to a broad smile, undeterred.
"You’re wrong, Letitia."
"The Madfire is something I’ve completely mastered and controlled, and now I’m stronger and clearer than ever."
"Now, I just refuse to be bound by anything, no longer wanting to disguise anything."
He spread his wings, displaying his robust form: "Doing as I please, unrestrained, without limits... This is the life I’ve always yearned for, that boundless freedom you order-abiding, rule-following Iron Dragons can never understand."
