Chapter 2715: Chapter 1837: The Worst Start
"Well done."
Standing in front of the stone coffin, Duanmu Huai still looked beaten and bruised, yet appeared refreshed. Although he had been severely beaten by Brutal Wrath, he had managed to turn things around this time. Moreover, after Duanmu Huai shattered Brutal Wrath’s form, the portion of divine position related to war had completely fallen into his hands.
From now on, he would be able to become stronger as he fought, and fight as he became stronger, just like Brutal Wrath. As long as there was battle, whether against anyone, he could draw strength from the act of "conflict."
However, like the God of Destruction, Duanmu Huai also limited this divine position to only be effective against human enemies. As for internal human conflicts, he neither cared nor worried about them.
Although a broader range of divine position could absorb more divine power, conversely, it also became a double-edge sword. Why was Brutal Wrath always loyally twisted? Because no matter whom it fought, it was all the same, whether enemy troops or friendly forces, even internal conflicts; as long as there was battle, it would please this God of Fury. Duanmu Huai did not want the Tribunal to become a twisted loyalist organization that stabbed friendly forces in the back, so he limited the divine power to only function against human enemies.
Of course, just like how a flashlight becomes stronger when focused, the power generated by this divine energy is much stronger than that of a universal approach.
But the issue wasn’t nonexistent, that was, Duanmu Huai abandoned other divine positions in the domain of conflict and only focused on human enemies, meaning other deities could easily acquire this portion of divine position and power. But that’s not something Duanmu Huai needed to concern himself with, worst-case scenario, he’d step in and beat them up again.
After this, Duanmu Huai received a notice from Mary and then came here.
"Cunning Deception is playing the same trick again, it really is out of moves."
Looking at the coffin sealing the Star God in front of him, Duanmu Huai sneered coldly, while Mary tilted her head in confusion.
"The same trick?"
"Exactly."
Duanmu Huai nodded and then looked at Mary.
"Let me tell you a story."
As he spoke, Duanmu Huai began to narrate.
"During the Imperial Great Expedition, The Emperor returned to Terra to tinker with his useless Golden Throne and Net Path, then Horus was seduced and betrayed by the Evil God. The Imperial’s extraordinary wise Magnus learned of this, and he hoped to notify The Emperor as soon as possible so he could prepare. So he used spiritual energy to enter Subspace, intending to contact The Emperor."
At this point, Duanmu Huai couldn’t help but laugh.
"And back then, The Emperor was busy tinkering with the Golden Throne connected to the Net Path outlets, completely unable to hear Magnus’s calls, the Net Path blocked their spiritual link. So, in desperation, Magnus accepted Cunning Deception’s suggestion and help, using his own power to break the wall of the Net Path—you know, the Net Path isolated Subspace, so once Magnus broke it, tens of thousands of Demons surged in like bulls let out to pasture. If not for that old salt of the earth’s quick thinking, sitting on the Golden Toilet, Terra might have exploded right then and there, and our Milky Way would have gained yet another Eye of Fear."
As he spoke, Duanmu Huai reached out and patted Mary’s shoulder.
"It turns out, you’re much smarter than Magnus. Of course, it’s not often you see someone as foolish as him."
"So... that’s Cunning Deception’s plan?"
Mary frowned.
"It wanted me to open the seal and release the Star God?"
"I suppose, I’m not exactly sure, who cares, maybe it itself isn’t clear either."
Duanmu Huai shrugged.
"Luckily you didn’t release it. At the time, Brutal Wrath and I were evenly matched; any external intervention would have broken this balance. Especially a piece of Star God fragment... Hmm, I don’t know which Star God’s fragment it is, and I don’t want to know. Anyway, since it’s in my hands now..."
As he spoke, Duanmu Huai reached toward the stone coffin, then squeezed tightly. In the next moment, Mary saw several thick tentacles emerge from the shadow beneath the coffin, tightly wrapping around it, and with a strong pull, dragged it into the shadow below.
"Is it okay?"
"In the past, maybe not, now it’s fine."
Duanmu Huai nodded; having acquired the divine position of war and battle, he was now stronger than before. These sealed Star God fragments were no longer able to pose any threat to Duanmu Huai. So he manipulated the tentacles to pull the Star God Stone Coffin into his domain, then hurled it straight into the star... subsequently, as the sound of raging roars emerged, a streak of green light appeared and vanished.
"Hmm?"
Duanmu Huai raised an eyebrow.
"It turned out to be a fragment of Night Embracer... Good thing you didn’t release it, or this battle would have been even more chaotic."
Night Embracer is one of the Star Gods, also the most brutal and combative, in its eyes, only death and destruction mattered.
One can only imagine, with Brutal Wrath, the God of Destruction, if a Night Embracer that likewise governed death and slaughter joined in, how disorderly things would get.
Of course, Duanmu Huai could envision that moment when Cunning Deception would surely laugh and clap its hands, gleefully proclaiming "Everything is going according to plan."
To the Lord of Change, whether good or bad, so long as it was change, it delighted.
