Chapter 598: Graduation Season
The kids found some work to do and decided to stay here for now. Xu Mumu saw that they were getting the hang of things.
Xu Mumu didn’t disturb them as the two professors were still teaching. Xu Mumu started to focus on her brother’s affairs.
Xu Minghui and the others were now preparing to get their graduation certificates, and Xu Mumu attended their graduation ceremony.
Seeing each of them dressed in their bachelor’s gowns and taking photos together, they were all so joyous.
Xu Mumu strolled around the campus with the little one. The school had many new constructions, especially those two new lab buildings. Xu Mumu heard from Yin Yang that he had invested some money into them.
The little one joyfully watched people walking around the campus.
When the students were taking photos, the little one, though not fully understanding, showed great interest.
Xu Mumu felt like laughing; this little one was so spirited every day.
After a round outside, Xu Mumu took the child to find Professor Song and the others.
Meanwhile, Xu Minghui and Jiang Yuxiu, both rejected the jobs assigned by the school.
"The school offered you such a good job at the steel plant? Why did you reject it without thinking?" Their advisor looked at the two of them, exasperated. The positions they were offered were technical jobs with hefty salaries.
"Teacher, we’ve started our own business and don’t have time to work in the factory. Let’s leave this opportunity for classmates who need it," Jiang Yuxiu said with a smile. They really didn’t need this chance, as the big supermarkets had plenty for them to handle daily, and the money they made in a day was equivalent to months of work in a factory.
"Business?" The advisor raised an eyebrow. Since last year, Xu Minghui and the others had resigned from their class positions and were often busy, so he hadn’t paid much attention.
"Yes, we opened a supermarket, Huifeng Supermarket. You’ve probably heard of it, right?" Xu Minghui nodded with a smile.
"That’s your store?" The advisor was surprised. That supermarket was huge and well-known in the provincial city. The goods were diverse and affordable, so many often shopped there; he had visited a few times with his family.
"Yes, Minghui opened it himself. Now that we’re married, there’s more to do at the supermarket, so I need to help out," Jiang Yuxiu said with a smile, looking at her husband and thinking how outstanding he was.
"Alright then, since you both have your plans, let’s leave it at that." The advisor nodded, no longer persuading them to work at the factory.
After leaving the advisor’s office, the two went to the school’s auditorium to receive their degrees.
Once they finished and got their graduation certificates, Xu Mumu was already waiting for them with the sleeping Doudou at the convenience store.
It was hot now, and Xu Mumu dared not let the child be cooled by a fan, so she waved a small fan at him instead.
The little one looked so cute asleep. While holding the child, Xu Mumu read the newspaper.
Recently, the kids had gained a lot of attention, with many sections in the newspaper dedicated to them.
The kids were diligent and managed to win many awards. Their backgrounds and achievements were very inspiring.
"Sweetie, look, how do I look in the newspaper?" Li Caixia approached with a newspaper and asked softly. Ever since the interview, she bought newspapers every day, and despite going through them multiple times, she was still excited.
"You look great, mom, the best," Xu Mumu said with a smile. She had answered this question hundreds of times, yet her mom never tired of it.
"If I had known there’d be an interview, I would have worn that dress you bought me last time and put on some makeup. It didn’t turn out so photogenic," Li Caixia touched her chin. If she had known her son was so capable, she would have dressed up glamorously before coming.
Xu Mumu twitched her mouth; her mom couldn’t get enough of this.
Fortunately, Xu Minghui and the others arrived. "Bro, sis-in-law, did you get the graduation certificate?"
"We got it. You wouldn’t believe how our teacher kept persuading us to work at the steel plant," Jiang Yuxiu laughed, covering her mouth, and took out their certificates for Xu Mumu to see.
"Wow, is this a university graduation certificate? So nice," The certificate was wrapped in a red cover, with their photos and some information, like enrollment date and years spent, inside.
Though it wasn’t as good-looking as hers, her mom really liked it.
Li Caixia clung to the certificate, immediately pulling Madam Chen and Xu Hai next door to admire it.
The little one was asleep, so they could talk a bit louder next door.
Xu Mumu was amused by their expressions and stayed behind chatting with Jiang Yuxiu. When it was close to noon, Yin Yang arrived.
After telling her mom, Xu Mumu left with her son.
The little one slept through being carried away.
Back home, just as she was about to lay the little one on his small bed, he woke up.
Xu Mumu twitched her mouth; luckily, the little one didn’t cry because hearing him cry gave her a headache.
She picked him up and let his dad take care of him.
Madam Chun’s cooking was as excellent as ever. Since she stopped breastfeeding, Xu Mumu was less picky with food and could eat freely.
After lunch, the weather got stuffy, and it took a lot of effort to coax the little one to sleep again, making her sweat.
She took a bath and felt much better. The sky outside was dim, probably about to rain again. The room was stuffy, only getting better after turning on the air conditioning.
"I read the weather forecast; there will be heavy rain in the coming days," Yin Yang said not far away, reading a book.
"Heavy rain, huh? We can’t go out again," Xu Mumu nodded and wasn’t much affected by the thought of rain. She just hoped Doudou could grow up quickly. Taking care of him daily made returning to the lab to work on her drawings impossible, delaying her work for months, and she just wanted to cover her face.
"Mhm, if there’s any book you want to read, I can get it for you," Yin Yang said warmly, putting his book aside to hold his sweet wife for a nap.
"There actually is," Xu Mumu burst into a smile and told Yin Yang the name of the book she wanted to read.
