Chapter 2538: Chapter 2538: A Small Request

"Prince Galo, your esteemed presence here is my oversight," Dan Hanjie’s eyes flickered as he spoke softly.

With the words exchanged, it marked the end of the first round of their contest.

The two were evenly matched, with neither outdoing the other. However, since Galo spoke first, he seemed a bit at a disadvantage, but holding Youyou gave him an additional bargaining chip against Dan Hanjie.

"Uncle Jie, I want a hug!" Little Youyou in Galo’s arms kept squirming, wanting to get out of his embrace, looking earnestly at Dan Hanjie sitting before her, her big, sparkling eyes filled with a gleam of pleading.

She wanted Uncle Jie to hug her, and when she got to Uncle Jie, she wouldn’t have to be afraid of the bad uncle!

"Youyou is still young. There’s no need to involve a child in adults’ matters. Prince Galo, having come from afar, you must be tired. Why not hand Youyou to me first? Whatever there is to discuss, let the child rest in her room first."

Dan Hanjie extended his hand, waiting nonchalantly for Galo to give Youyou to him.

"Youyou just woke up; she won’t feel like sleeping at this time. I only found out today that I have such a lovely little niece, and I wish to get closer to her. Surely, Mr. Jie wouldn’t be unable to grant me such a small request?"

Galo deftly tossed the issue back to Dan Hanjie, both engaged in this tug-of-war over who should be with the child, neither willing to retreat an inch.

Youyou was the key to their negotiation. This was a private villa, Dan Hanjie’s territory, and even a mighty dragon fears the local serpent.

Galo knew that if he wanted to take Youyou away, the hardest hurdle would be Dan Hanjie!

"I want Uncle Jie to hold me! Put me down, you’re so annoying!" Youyou pouted high.

Her unhappy tone made even the adults pause.

Galo knew the little girl’s temper was unusually stubborn, but he underestimated the trouble that stubbornness could cause him.

At her words, even wanting to hold her by force would make Galo seem too excessive.

Before Galo could think of the most advantageous solution, Youyou impatiently slid down from his arms, ran across to Dan Hanjie, and with a thud, threw herself into his embrace.

"Uncle Jie, I like you the most!"

The little girl’s sweet words melted everyone’s hearts.

Dan Hanjie’s cold face showed a slight surprise, followed by a smile at the corner of his mouth as he pinched her little cheek with his long fingers.

"You little rascal."

"I’m not as much of a rascal as Tingye. He wouldn’t let me ride the snow wolf, which I really, really like. Uncle Jie, can you let me ride it, please?" Youyou was still thinking about the mighty Da Bai, seizing the chance to beg Dan Hanjie coquettishly.

The atmosphere in the living room warmed with her innocent voice.

"You mean Da Bai?" Dan Hanjie furrowed his brow, lifted her soft little body onto his lap. "If you like it, I’ll take you to try it tomorrow, see if Da Bai will play with you."

"Oh yes, oh yes!"

Youyou clapped her little hands with excitement upon hearing Dan Hanjie agree to let her near Da Bai, her pretty eyes and brows smiling sweetly.

Her delicate, rosy little face was indescribably charming.

"After a day of fussing, aren’t you tired? Go sleep with Miss Meimei now." Dan Hanjie’s eyes glinted as he spoke softly.

His calm tone bore no deliberate intention, sounding like a typical elder’s greeting.
