"There’s nothing else for now; it’s getting late, and I should head back. I still need to pick up Meimei." Ye Mingmei glanced at the time, realizing that they had unconsciously chatted for hours.
After snapping out of her thoughts, she realized her work was still pending, and it was almost time to pick up Meimei.
"I’ll take you home. We’ll stop here for today, and I’ll come back another day to ask for your advice, Miss Ye." Hearing her mention Meimei, Bai Zheng stood up gracefully from his seat, walked over, and pulled out a chair for Ye Mingmei.
"No need, I drove myself to work today..."
"You’ve done me a big favor today; I insist on taking you home. Plus, I can take the chance to visit Meimei. I haven’t seen her for a while and quite miss that quirky little girl."
Bai Zheng’s deep eyes suppressed the longing for his daughter as he took the bag from Ye Mingmei’s hands and casually followed her out of the restaurant.
Seeing his insistence, Ye Mingmei couldn’t refuse. She called her secretary to brief some work and then got into Bai Zheng’s car, heading to the kindergarten with him.
With Ye Mingmei by his side, Bai Zheng didn’t worry about not seeing Meimei when they arrived at kindergarten.
But upon arrival, they were told that Meimei had already been picked up by someone sent by Ye Zhanxing.
"Miss Ye, Mr. Ye ordered that things aren’t quite stable lately. For Meimei’s safety, bodyguards will be picking her up from school from now on, so you won’t have to make the trip yourself and be weary."
Meimei’s class teacher stood at the door, respectfully explaining to Ye Mingmei.
"How come this happened so suddenly? I haven’t received any calls, and my dad just picked Meimei up?" Ye Mingmei was stunned, looking at the teacher in surprise.
"These are Mr. Ye’s instructions. If you have questions, Miss Ye, you could call Mr. Ye for verification. Mr. Ye personally picked Meimei up just now."
Seeing Ye Mingmei’s face change, the class teacher quickly said.
Ye Mingmei paused for a moment, quickly took out her phone, dialed the Ye Family Villa, confirmed that Meimei was indeed picked up by Ye Zhanxing, and finally exhaled deeply.
"It’s alright as long as she’s safe. Since Meimei has been picked up, I’ll take you back to the Ye Family then." Bai Zheng’s eyes darkened, looking at the empty classroom; he lowered his gaze.
"No need, I’ll just take a cab home." Ye Mingmei put her phone into her bag, worried about her daughter and, before Bai Zheng could say more, hurried out, flagged down a taxi, and gave the Ye Family’s address.
By the time Bai Zheng approached, her taxi had already left.
Watching her departure direction, Bai Zheng’s face slowly sank.
He took out his phone and quickly dialed his assistant.
"Master, I’ve completed the task you assigned. The Yu family has been taken by the police, and now the Yu family is in chaos." The assistant’s eager voice was distinctly conveyed over the phone.
After a pause, he added.
"However, something strange happened when I went to the Yu family graveyard. Shortly after I left, Dan Hanjie’s men went there and caused quite a stir outside the graveyard. But they didn’t have any conflicts with the Yu family, made some noise, and then left peacefully. I checked afterward and found nothing."
"Who did you say went to the Yu family graveyard?" Bai Zheng’s grip on the phone tightened, his eyes reflecting a dark light.
