Chapter 2493: Chapter 2493: A Story of One Who Found Their Way Back (Part 4)

Ye Mingmei unexpectedly looked up, forgetting to put down her phone.

She had been avoiding Bai Zheng for several days, and Bai Zheng seemed to have disappeared too, with no trace of him these days.

He suddenly appeared, and Ye Mingmei was completely taken aback.

"It’s been a few days, and it seems Miss Ye has already forgotten me. Hearing my name, you seem so surprised." A deep, magnetic voice suddenly came from the doorway, and as soon as the voice fell, Bai Zheng’s tall figure appeared at the door.

His mischievous eyes stared unwaveringly at Ye Mingmei at the desk, greedily watching her every expression.

After not seeing her for a few days, she had become even more slender, with barely any flesh visible on her body.

A slender figure, a waist that could be easily grasped, and a slightly pale complexion... she hadn’t been doing well these days.

Bai Zheng squinted his eyes, hiding the heartache in them, and walked forward.

"I’m sorry for coming uninvited again." Bai Zheng raised his wrist, glanced at the time, "It’s just about lunchtime now. I wonder if Miss Ye would do me the honor of having lunch with me, so we can talk about our upcoming collaboration as well."

"I’m sorry, I’ve already delegated everything regarding the collaboration to others..."

"The collaboration I need Miss Ye’s help with is a different one, and only you can provide me with precise advice." Bai Zheng interrupted her words calmly, his gaze fixated on Ye Mingmei.

His deep gaze was like a deep pond, capable of drawing people in.

Ye Mingmei swallowed, the words of refusal on the tip of her tongue, but suddenly, she didn’t know how to say them.

"I don’t understand what you mean."

"I know you’re curious about what kind of collaboration can only involve you. If possible, I’d like to tell Miss Ye a story, and perhaps after hearing it, you’ll understand my intentions."

Bai Zheng extended his hand, making a polite inviting gesture.

"I wonder if I have the honor to have Miss Ye join me for lunch and listen to this story."

Ye Mingmei looked at his hand, hesitated for a few seconds, then stood up from her chair, reaching for her coat and bag.

"All collaborations of the Ye Corporation need to be reviewed by the relevant departments. Even if we are to collaborate with the YX Group, I don’t have the final say; I can only listen to your story."

"As long as you’re willing to listen to this story, that’s enough." Bai Zheng retracted his mischievous gaze and walked out of the office first.

Bai Zheng didn’t choose a faraway place but went to the western restaurant right across from the Ye Corporation.

After the two sat down, before Ye Mingmei could speak, he ordered a cup of hot milk for her.

"Drinking coffee for long periods to stay alert isn’t good for your body. Actually, milk has high energy, and once you eliminate psychological dependence, drinking milk when tired is better than coffee."

"..."

Ye Mingmei looked at the domineering Bai Zheng, uncomfortably furrowing her brows.

Looking at his familiar face, inexplicably, such domineering words coming from his mouth seemed not out of place at all, as if it had always been this way.

Ye Mingmei’s hand holding the milk cup tightened slightly. After a moment of silence, she spoke, "What story does Mr. Bai want to tell?"

"A story about someone who made mistakes and then found their way back." Bai Zheng looked at Ye Mingmei sitting across from him, his thin lips slightly parted, his gaze flickering, "Let’s eat first. Not eating on time is bad for the stomach. After the meal, I’ll slowly tell you the story."
