Chapter 2471: Chapter 2471: The Key to Opening the Yu Family Graveyard (Part 3)

The assistant stepped forward to inspect once, then returned to Bai Zheng’s side.

"What about the windows on the balcony?"

"They’ve all been checked, and they’re all tightly shut. This kind of security setup seems like the work of the Dan Family. I heard that after Miss Ye’s accident back then, Qin Youxuan had the whole place remodeled to enhance the security features just like a private villa."

The assistant explained respectfully.

"..."

Bai Zheng walked forward, brushed his hand over the painting on the door, his heart stirring slightly.

Unable to break in, his only way now was to get the keys to this apartment from Ye Mingmei.

Given Ye Mingmei’s current aversion to him, that wouldn’t be easy.

But he still had a little spy.

"To the Ye Family."

Bai Zheng turned around decisively and left.

The car cruised steadily down the road, with him propping his head with one hand. His alluring face revealed no excess emotion.

"Mr. Bai, we’ve arrived. There are puzzles and art supplies you previously prepared for Meimei in the trunk. Should we bring them along?" The assistant turned around to ask as he parked the car outside the Ye Family Villa’s gate.

Bai Zheng narrowed his eyes, opened the door, and with long strides descended from the car. Before the assistant could move, he strode to the back and picked up the gifts from the trunk.

Looking at the boxes in each hand, his gaze deepened.

Meimei was three years old, and this was the first time he was giving his daughter a present. He didn’t know if the little girl would like it.

These items were personally selected based on Meimei’s preferences which he had the assistant inquire about at the kindergarten. Now, at last, he was handing them to her, and Bai Zheng felt as nervous as if he were going to meet his first love.

He feared his little princess might not like the gifts he had personally chosen.

"Mr. Bai, let me carry them..."

Before the assistant could finish speaking, Bai Zheng was already striding with the gifts towards the Ye Family’s gate.

"Mr. Bai, I’m sorry, but both the young lady and the little miss have already gone to bed. It’s not convenient for them to meet guests today." The guard, after going inside to report, politely declined Bai Zheng’s visit.

Bai Zheng tightened his grip on the gifts slightly, surprisingly looked up, "It’s only eight-thirty. Is it this early for them to sleep?"

"Yes, the little miss played all day today, and went to bed very early." The guard’s eyes were somewhat evasive. Meeting Bai Zheng’s imposing demeanor, he stumbled over his words, forced himself to finish, and then guiltily lowered his head.

By the look of the guard, Bai Zheng didn’t need to ask further to know what was going on.

"Meimei is asleep, but Miss Ye is also asleep this early? I can also hand these gifts over to Miss Ye. Just passing on a gift won’t take much time."

Bai Zheng spoke with a detached tone.

The guard hesitated, "Then please wait a moment, Mr. Bai, and I’ll go inquire again."

After the guard’s figure disappeared, the assistant stepped forward, lowering his voice, "Mr. Bai, it seems someone doesn’t want you to see the little miss."

"I know. I’m just curious whether this order came from Ye Zhanxing or Mingmei." Bai Zheng lowered his gaze, deep contemplation in his eyes.

The guard’s earlier reaction confirmed that Ye Mingmei was not asleep at all, yet still refused to see him.

Perhaps he was overthinking; although Ye Zhanxing asked him many questions today, he shouldn’t have sensed anything unusual.

"Mr. Bai, should we continue to wait? It seems that Miss Ye won’t let us see the little miss today." The assistant asked worriedly.
