Chapter 141: Making a move on Bai Haoran (Part - 2)

Bai Haoran frowned and his grip loosened over the hilt of his sword.

He glared at Gu Fan and scoffed at him as if he had heard a joke, "Every single person in Poison Valley Town already knows about our financial struggles, so do you really think you are being very smart by just coming here and pointing out the obvious? We can’t hide it even if I want to."

"Well..." Gu Fan shrugged his broad shoulders lazily, "While everyone in the valley definitely knows that you are bleeding out, and most of them are rejoicing in it , even those in your clan... How many of them know the reason you guys are in this pathetic, miserable state?!"

Bai Haoran’s eyes instantly narrowed into dangerous slits, his breathing growing slightly heavier as he leaned forward across the table, demanding in a scary voice, "And I suppose you do?"

Gu Fan did not reply right away as his lips curled up in a mischievous smirk.

"Let’s just take a step back and look at the big picture," Gu Fan began to narrate smoothly as he locked his eyes onto the Patriarch’s desperate face.

"What is the first question that should come into your mind?" Gu Fan asked, but without giving Bai Haoran the chance to reply, he continued.

"How?"

"How did it all begin?"

"And this will take you to that specific incident a month back."

"It all started with Chen Long’s assassination," Gu Fan said, "And who was blamed for it?"

"You guys..." Gu Fan said.

"So ask yourself, who was the very last person seen interacting with him during that banquet?"

"Who found him dead, hanging naked on Gu Clan gates?"

Gu Fan let the questions hang in the heavy air for a second, giving Bai Haoran the chance to think.

"Who would reap the most benefits by stirring trouble between the two clans?"

"Who exactly wanted to wildly outshine every single genius in the valley during the recent hunting competition?"

"Who would have the last laugh if there was no Bai Clan in this town?"

Bai Haoran’s face began to turn ugly with every question Gu Fan asked as the puzzle pieces began to snap together in his mind.

Finally when Gu Fan stopped talking, Bai Haoran softly whispered as he looked at Gu Fan for answers.

"Gu Chen..."

"I didn’t say anything," Gu Fan stated casually, holding his hands up in a fake gesture of total innocence while enjoying every subtle change of expression on Bai Haoran’s face

"Still..." But Bai Haoran shook his head, "This makes no sense... even if what you say is the truth, why should I believe you?"

"Why should I believe a single word coming out of the mouth of a bastard?"

"First of all... Call me bastard again and you won’t live to take the next sip of your evening tea," Gu Fan’s expression changed in an instant and for a brief second, even Bai Haoran felt his hair stand up.

But the very next Gu Fan smiled as he clicked his tongue in disappointment, and he leaned forward.

"If you don’t want to believe me, it is your choice. I am not the one on the verge of life and death here."

"But then how exactly do you think I managed to so effortlessly beat your precious son to a bloody pulp?"

Hearing his son’s name being mocked so casually, Bai Haoran’s face instantly twisted as he bared his teeth. His son was the sore point that hurt him even more.

"It is nothing personal between us, actually," Gu Fan just waved his hand dismissively, "So don’t take it to heart."

"You need to understand that there is someone who is very interested in the Gu Clan," Gu Fan started to weave the last of his trap.

"My master has a very deep grudge against the Gu Clan, particularly my dear father."

"He will do anything and everything necessary to bring down Gu Yangtian and entirely burn his precious clan to absolute ashes."

Bai Haoran stared at him, still highly skeptical of this supposed hidden powerhouse, but before he could demand any more proof, Gu Fan casually flicked his wrist over the stone table.

With a bright, blinding flash of spatial light from his Void Band, Gu Fan pulled out exactly ten thousand Low-Grade Spirit Stones and one thousand highly compressed Medium-Grade Spirit Stones as he dumped them all in front of Bai Haoran in a shining mountain.

And along with the spirit stones, there was also a wooden crate completely filled to the brim with Mortal-Grade and Spirit-Grade herbs.

In no time, the scent of high-tier spiritual medicine instantly flooded the quiet courtyard.

"My master is formally extending his hand in cooperation, and this is just the tip of the iceberg that he is willing to offer," Gu Fan declared, leaving no room for further discussion.

"So you better not be blind and foolishly bite the hand that is actively trying to pull your drowning clan out of the deep mud."

"Because with you or without you. The Gu Clan is going to burn."

Bai Haoran sat completely frozen in his chair, his eyes darting wildly between the absolutely staggering fortune resting on his table and the supposedly crippled bastard sitting across from him, his mind completely unable to process how a bullied bastard had secured such a terrifying backing.

He had a million frantic questions burning in his throat, but as he stared at the glowing spirit stones, he was barely able to choke out the most pressing one, asking with a trembling voice.

"But why are you doing this... why are you so eagerly betraying your own Gu Clan bloodline?"

Gu Fan just sneered, and a malicious hatred flashing in his eyes as he perfectly played the role of the vengeful outcast, leaning forward to spit his final, highly convincing venom.

"Because I was never respected a single day in the Gu Clan, treated like a pathetic bastard son who was valued far lower than the dirtiest servants," Gu Fan stated ruthlessly, his voice dripping with pure, uncut malice.

"My mother died, but Gu Yangtian didn’t even show up at her burial."

"I bet he doesn’t even know that she is dead."

"No... I have endured enough... my mother suffered enough... now it is time for Guaranty Yangtian to suffer."

"He has to suffer a fate worse than my mother..."

"It is finally time for Gu Yangtian to pay back every single ounce of humiliation he owes me."

"Only after that will I let him... My dear father die."
