Chapter 59: Luna Stays

When Ren made the statement to get serious, they all swallowed hard.

"You came into this forest with a singular notion, to see the dragon, to see me." His tongue was laced with venom at this moment. Every word he said was like a stab to their hearts.

They had indeed come with such intentions. Never did they think that they would have to face the dragon one on one.

"If you had found me in a vulnerable position, you would have come for my head, no doubt. I cannot blame you for that because that is the pre-existing pattern.

But no more. You are not allowed to recklessly attack monsters inside my territory, especially the ones that are under my wing. So I want to use you lot as messengers to whoever sits above you all.

Stay away from us, and we will stay away from you. I have no plans to chase after humans, but I will for sure kill you the moment you try to trespass." He finished saying that and then broke into a smile.

"Also, I’d like to foster some sort of relationship with you and your town soon, just to see and get used to your next-door neighbors. Which means, at any given point in time, I’ll come have a visit." He made the statement and made sure that it was clear it was not an ask.

The adventurers swallowed hard. They had no real say in this. Most of them were two-star ranked, and the highest were Leon and Gerald, and even they were a measly three-star.

They had seen the power of Ren. He might not be able to destroy the kingdom, but he for sure could bring down Raventown, their home, and burn it into rubble.

"If we are good on these few things, then that’s the end for now. I have other pressing issues I have to attend to, sadly. I would have loved to talk and get to know you more.

You can choose to stay here and eat and have some fun while I’m working, though," Ren suggested.

"Oh no, no, no, we could never. We have taken up enough of your time and your resources already," Leon said and bowed his head.

Ren allowed his gaze to linger on him for a few seconds as if watching something interesting before finally speaking.

"That’s fine then, let’s get you on your way," Ren said and got to his feet.

Everyone got up and left the house. The moment they did, they saw all the adventurers running towards the house, not as an attack, but with fear in their eyes and their bodies heavily bruised.

"Sir Leon, please, we have to leave, waaaaah!" a grown man cried out as he begged Leon.

Leon looked at all of them in utter confusion. He even saw his own assassin, who barely showed any emotions. He saw him shaking and trembling by the side like he was about to die.

"What happened?" Leon asked, but then he felt a terrifying presence. He looked up and saw Ezra walking their way, covered in a sinister aura and a frown on her face. Riker was at her side, hands behind his head and swinging his legs casually.

When they all felt her presence, the adventurers shivered in fear.

"Hey! The sparring session is not yet over!"

Ezra’s voice thundered, and they all shuddered in fear.

Leon looked on in shock and a bit of fear.

Ren, on the other hand, was stunned.

What could she have done in such a short time that has caused them this much fear of her? Sheesh, she is a unit.

"Ezra, I’m sure that whatever sessions you were having with them were pretty good, and they can end now. They have to leave," Ren said.

"Tch, Master, they could not even hold up," she spoke, evidently pissed at their incompetence.

"Don’t be too harsh, Ezra. You could break them," Ren said and then turned to Gerald and Leon.

"I am deeply sorry about this. She is very enthusiastic about stuff."

"Oh no, no, no, no need to apologize. It was a sparring session. It was good for them as well," Leon said.

"Oi, ya lot should get ya asses off the floor and let’s leave," Gerald yelled.

The adventurers got themselves up and dragged themselves towards the outskirts of the settlement. Ren followed behind until they had made it out.

Luna stood by his side and refused to budge past that point.

Ren looked at her.

"Are you sure that you want to stay here, surrounded by monsters?" he asked.

"Luna will stay. Luna does not like humans either. Humans killed Luna’s family."

After she said that line, she grabbed onto his hand and tucked her head in.

Ezra saw this and was seething, but Riker grabbed her shoulder and gave her a look that said she should calm down.

Ren heard what she had said, and it brought thoughts to his mind. Luna definitely had a past that was less than decent. He was not going to ask about it, though. Everyone had the right to their own privacy.

With the humans gone and out of sight, he turned around and walked back into the settlement.

"Alright, Ragna, we are heading to your home now. Let’s get the orcs and other races properly under us now. We could use all the help to build faster."

*The humans will definitely not take lightly to what I’m doing. They’ll see me as a threat for certain, and they’ll come for me even after warnings.

When that happens, I have to find the best way to defend and deter them. What I have built will not be pulled down by the egoists that are humans and their inability to stomach change.

That being said, my only threat does not lie in the hands of the humans but also in the depths of this forest. Tch, the other Forest Lords still exist, and so does that figure in black. I’m sure they will be trouble for me.*
