Chapter 1693 Incident

Xiu Jie frowned deeply after hearing what Gu Chaoyan said to him. He almost collapsed. “I will go and visit her.”

“Xiu Jie, Qing may have no eyes or mind for anything else or anyone else. She is stuck in her own fantasy. You have to be careful about this. You have not served me for dozens of years, but you are working for me and I want both of you to be well,” Gu Chaoyan said to Xiu Jie, her gaze on him.

Xiu Jie had never told Gu Chaoyan the truth explicitly, and Gu Chaoyan would not reveal it to his face either, but she understood what was going on with Xiu Jie, so she told Xiu Jie what he should know.

Xiu Jie had a resolute expression, as he said to Gu Chaoyan, “Elder Miss, I know what I am doing. I would very much like to see her.”

Gu Chaoyan let him go after hearing what he said.

She walked along the path in the mansion and saw the newly-planted Immortal Flower tree.

There were a few side-yards next to Xinlin Mansion. Gu Chaoyan found them very good so she asked Xiu Jie to purchase them all. She had been thinking that when her maids were old enough to get married, they could find the suitors that fitted them, and she would marry them off as her own sisters. She could serve as the family that always protected them, whenever they ran into trouble.

What happened to Qing was so sudden that she had not been prepared with a good solution. Even now, she was feeling quite distressed.

Hopefully, Qing could successfully reflect on the matter.

Gu Chaoyan walked along the path where the Immortal Flower trees were planted, then she went back to her own room, took down a book and started to read as she sat in the rocking chair.

She loved reading, all kinds of stories, anything interesting and bizarre. They were a lot of fun, but she could not even concentrate at the moment.

It was not until Sword One and Lingyun returned, that Gu Chaoyan put down the book out of relief, turning to Sword One.

Sword One said carefully, “Qing did not want to stay at the temple. Lingyun told her to stay there, so Qing dropped her protests. She said nothing to counter us, but she looked sad. Xiu Jie joined us later. He said that he will take care of Qing for a couple of days. So we came back here.”

“…”

“Elder Miss, it is fine. We will visit her often these days. Don’t worry about her, take a good rest, you are not looking well.”

Gu Chaoyan nodded.

She laid down.

Sword One massaged her head so she could relax.

Gu Chaoyan fell asleep soon after her eyes closed.

Sword One felt very concerned about her Elder Miss, who had lost much weight due to all kinds of trouble going on around her. Elder Miss looked cold, but she actually had the warmest heart, both for the civilians and for her servants. Elder Miss bore everything in mind.

If only Qing didn’t have this relationship trouble. Everything would have been so good.

Gu Chaoyan slept until the following day, and woke up with a slight headache. Then she sensed something was wrong. She summoned Sword One in and asked. “Sword One, what is going on outside?”

Sword One was startled at the question.

She had not wanted to bother Elder Miss about this, since she hoped that Elder Miss could take a longer, quieter rest, but Elder Miss already sensed the strangeness.
