Unable to bear her confidence and dares, he picked up his phone to call her.
As soon as she answered the call, he started to berate her.
"Mikayla, did you not think properly before deciding to tail me? What if someone that knew of our relationship saw us together at that mall?"
As soon as it looked like he was done scolding, Mikayla started to cry. "what did I do so wrong for you to scold me in this manner which you have never done before?"
Hearing her croaking voice, Zhang Mingyu got more annoyed. He was the one that called, why is she crying when she did something wrong?
Without waiting for his response, she sniffed as she allowed her eyes turn teary. Since he couldn't see her, she didn't bother to make any more effort to let her tears flow.
"I told you I had something important to talk about so I couldn't wait. I had followed you in hopes that I would immediately run to you as soon as you were done with your meeting with the person you had to see, but who knew it was some other girl."
Immediately, he interjected. "Mikayla, do you have a problem with me going on a date with my fiancée. Even if you are thinking about that, what right do you think you have? Do you want our relationship to end?"
Hearing that, she choked on her tears. "Mingyu, how could you be so heartless because I made a mistake which I have never done before, I..."
"It's exactly because you don't make this kind of mistake, that's why I'm mad at you." Zhang Mingyu quickly chipped in.
He didn't care if she loved him so much or missed him to the point of monitoring his movement. None of that mattered to him.
Her actions had annoyed and that was what was more important.
Knowing how angry he was, Mikayla tried to get his pity while pretending to be so hurt by him.
"Mingyu, I'm very sorry. I didn't know you wouldn't like it. I only did it because I had no choice. I really had that important news to tell you. I was in state where I needed you by my side, but instead you lashed out at me in the public restroom area."
Saying that, she scooped a spoon of ice cream and sent it into her mouth as she moved her phone away from ear and put it on hands-free mode.
Knowing that he would want to say something in return, she used that opportunity to enjoy her Ice cream a bit while sitting on her bed.
"Mikayla, you didn't need to tell me anything concerning that matter. We had only agreed to see each other secretly with nothing like a child ruining our relationship. You should get rid of it if you want to continue this relationship peacefully."
How could she be pregnant after all the precautions they have been using for over a year, was she kidding him?
Even if she accidentally fell pregnant, why did she have to tell him first when there was a clear rule from their onset of their dating in the early days?
Swallowing the lump of ice cream down her throat, Mikayla faked breaking out in tears. "Mingyu, I know we had an agreement between us, but how could you be so mean to me? You should at least try to comfort me for what I'm going to do next but instead you are telling me off. You are so mean!"
Screaming the last part into his ears, she tapped the red icon to end the call immediately.
Pushing the phone aside, she focused on her ice cream without a care.
On the other hand, Zhang Mingyu was still trying to get over the fact that she had ended the call on his face.
"She is becoming daring now." He mumbled to himself as he tapped a few bottons on his phone before placing it on his ear.
After several rings, there was no answer.
"Is she ignoring me now? Damn it!" He cursed angrily as he got ready to fling his phone away, but the soft knocks sounding on his door cursed him to think twice about it.
'Who could it be?'
Without confirming who the person at the other side of the door was, he walked over and opened it.
Seeing the person standing there, he called out, "Mum."
"Can I come in for a bit?" Though Shi Wenqian sounded like she was seeking his permission before walking into the room, she was only saying it when she had walked in already.
Letting her gaze glance over the items in the room, she turned her smiling gaze to him.
"Why haven't you changed your clothes? I was afraid you would already be in the shower by this time but who know, I got lucky."
In disguise, she was asking him the reason he still hadn't changed out of his clothes even after it had been a few minutes since he stepped into his room.
"I was tired and needed to rest." Just as he said that, her gaze travelled to the bed that didn't look like anyone had laid on it.
Following her gaze, he saw that she had found that he was lying and quickly added, "I also had to make an important call."
Still withy a smile on her face, she turned to meet his gaze. "How was your date with Emma?" She inquired with interest.
Since she was the one that made him go on the date, she needed to find out how it went.
"That girl is just one weird one." Being reminded of the way Emma Ong acted, he went to sit on his bed with an annoyed expression on his face.
"How is she weird?" immediately, she followed him to the bed to sit beside him.
"She doesn't speak a lot. She is not interesting and she has this sense of superiority. Mum, I would hate for that kind of woman to become my wife. How can I raise my head up high when she is already acting so haughty?"
'Mikayla is more submissive than she is. No, she is not even submissive.' He said to himself, refusing to voice that thought to his mother's hearing.
Hearing his complaints, Shi Wenqian's facial expression did not change. "Is normal. In fact, I'm not surprised. Mikayla is the only child of her parents, and she had been spoiled silly with their wealth. She is already used to looking down on others."
"Wait a minute. Mum, are you supporting her actions and ridiculous behaviour? I am your son here, shouldn't you be supporting me?"

Having mad ethics list that forced him to get into a deep thought, she probed, "Now, do you still think that you are any better than her?"
Zhang Mingyu was silent for a while before speaking for himself again.

The only reason I allowed your father push you to marry her is because that is the only way for you to your rightful position at the company and also get a hold of the shares he promised to give you if you married the person of his choice."
