"Look at you getting ahead of yourself," Fang Bingwen teased.
He could tell how proud she was of her little accomplishment and now, she was not going to give him a break.
"I worked hard for this little empire of mine," Zhang Liling said gesturing with her hands.
"Yes, you did..."
Just then, four people walked up to them.
"Bingwen," Mr. Shu called out with a smile as he made his way toward them with his wife, Shu Rushi and two of her friends.
"Uncle Shu." Fang Bingwen acknowledged as he and Zhang Liling stopped in their steps.
'This is an entire entourage.' Zhang Liling noted as she watched the family walk up to them.
What surprised her more was the eye roll Shu Rushi secretly gave to her before shifting her gaze to Fang Bingwen and then flashing him a full smile.
'What in the wor...'
"Brother..." Shu Rushi was still about to add Fang Bingwen's name when he turned to glare at her, forcing her to stop right there.
Aware that he was annoyed about her addressing him that way, she quickly changed her approach.
"Hello, Mr. Fang."
It was only now that Fang Bingwen looked away from her, seemingly satisfied that she was smart enough to correct herself for the mistake she was made.
Seeing the interaction between them, Zhang Liling smiled, revealing her happiness thereby infuriating Shu Rushi.
To Mr. Shu and Mrs. Shu, she was only smiling at them out of respect, not knowing that she was making fun of their daughter.
"This was a lovely event," Mrs. Shu said in admiration as she glanced at Zhang Liling.
The woman already looked happy to see someone as young as Zhang Liling doing something like this and without prejudice, she complimented her without reserve.
"Thank you," Zhang Liling replied as she shook hands with her.
Mr. Shu wasn't left out with complimenting her which made Zhang Liling smile from ear to ear as she could already see Shu Rushi gritting her teeth from her peripheral view.
'She must be dying seeing her parents compliment my accomplishment.' Zhang Liling thought to herself as her gaze moved from Shu Rushi's head and down to her toe.
Seeing the bold and eye-catching dress she put on while coming to her event, she could only shake her head inwardly.
'What a joke.'
Mrs. Shu being interested in the beauty sector and in Glint, asked Zhang Liling a few questions before her husband took over.
Glancing at Fang Bingwen who stood there without saying anything, Mr. Shu decided to pull his attention away.
"Bingwen what about your mother? I have searched for her all over as I had something to ask her in person..."
"She just left."
"Oh... Then, can you give me a minute?" Mr. Shu inquired while gesturing to him.
He wanted them to step aside and talk about something private which he agreed to.
Tilting his head to the side, he said to the woman next to him. "Liling, give me a minute, I will be back."
Just in case Mr. Shu had the idea of taking more than one minute, he was letting him know that he has already promised his woman to return in a minute.
So he could take this idea to make his statement fast otherwise he would leave him behind.
"Okay," Zhang Liling nodded and watched him leave with Mr. Shu and his wife.
Seeing that her parents had left, Shu Rushi turned her full attention to Zhang Liling along with her friends.
The innocent smile on her face that was there when she saw her cousin completely disappeared now that she was all alone with her.
"Zhang Liling, you must think that you are really something."
A smile turned up on Zhang Liling's face as she folded her hands below her chest, propping them up in the process.
Her eyes, meeting her gaze head on while waiting for her to finish what she had to say.
"Do you think you have made it in life just by this?" Shu Rushi asked while gesturing to the hall.
Her face was contoured into a disgusted look, showing the full blown jealousy she couldn't even hide.
"Let me tell you, anyone can do this so don't get cocky about it." The young lady at Shu Rushi's left side said with all confidence.
Hearing them attacking her out of the blue Zhang Liling scoffed. "If anyone can do what I have done, what happened to you trio?"
She really wanted of know if the bird brain they had was now bad that they have lost their senses.
"Of course we can do it. We are unlike you who had to ask a lot of wealthy people for help before creating a brand for yourself!" The other girl at Shu Rushi's right side slammed while pointing a finger at her.
"You are the ones that are cocky! Are you afraid of getting photographed by the press?" Tungmei asked as she walked over with a frown on her face.
Seeing her friend left alone with the blood-sucking humans, she immediately came to defend her.
"And who are you?" Shu Rushi asked rolling her eyes at her. But before Tungmei could react, she added with a disgusted look on her face.
"Ah! You must be Zhang Liling's underling. No wonder you can't help but tag along."
Immediately, her friends chuckled out loud. They all looked down on Tungmei more than they did to Zhang Liling.
Seeing them making fun of her friends, Zhang Liling felt like slapping down as her anger rose up the meter.
"You three are indeed birds of the same feather. I can see that you are jobless enough to parade around like helpless fools!"
Zhang Liling was not going to give them a chance to insult her friend when she was there. She was going to make them swallow their words.
"What? Who are you calling fools?" One of the girls asked, while literally puffing out smoke from her lips.
She was almost on the verge of attacking her.
As for Shu Rushi, she was not calm either, but she seemed to be in a better state than her friends since she understood the particular Zhang Liling called fools.
